If you've paid any attention to fashion over the past two decades, Mulberry will be one of those British luxury brands that endures in the background of your memory. At first glance, the Boston feels familiar in the best way. It sits neatly alongside Mulberry favourites like the Bayswater and the reissued Alexa, but with a slightly more streamlined shape that feels very now. I have owned my Bayswater for over 10 years, and it is still one of the most reliable bags I own, so I do not take a new Mulberry launch lightly.

The Boston comes in two sizes, which immediately makes it more appealing. The regular Boston feels ideal for work, especially if you want a bag that looks great but still earns its keep. Despite its structured look, it's genuinely spacious, and I could comfortably fit a small laptop inside. The small Boston, on the other hand, is more compact and feels like an easy everyday option when you want something practical but not oversized.

Then there's the colour question, which is where I started mentally justifying this bag to myself. There are classic shades if you want to play it safe, along with a fern-green if dopamine-dressing pieces call you, but the chalk, heavy-grain leather is the one that keeps pulling me back. It feels fresh without being precious, and like it would work just as well with tailoring as it would with denim and flats.

It also helps that the Boston has already been spotted being carried by lowkey celebs such as Emma Roberts, which always gives a new bag a certain credibility. In short, if you're planning to add a new bag to your 2026 rotation, the Mulberry Boston feels like a very good place to start indeed.

1. The Chloé Paddington

Twenty years after the first release on the spring/summer 2005 runways, the Chloé Paddington bag hit the runways once more for autumn/winter 2025. The pull was instant, drawing in a long waiting list that mirrored the original's extensive pre-orders, with stylish people setting their clocks against the launch time of this long-beloved bag.

The original style was created under the then Creative Director Phoebe Phil, a name that will come up again in this list of returning It bags. Whilst Chloé was and still is often associated with soft silhouettes and delicate palettes, the bag was a tougher stance, relaxed in its slouchy form, making it instantly a favourite amongst the fashion crowd.

2. The Mulberry Soft Bayswater

One of the most iconic Mulberry bags to date is the Bayswater. First launched back in 2003, the classic appeal and spacious interior launched this bag straight onto the arms of It girls everywhere. Naturally, it never truly fell out of favour, and with a devoted following, Mulberry looked to reinvent the style for the modern day; enter the Mulberry Soft Bayswater.

Whilst many of the It bags on the list have received a serious amount of hype, the Soft Bayswater has quietly become the IYKYK bag that the original always was. Taking clear design details from its predecessor, the new Soft version maintains the striking handle motifs and flap shape, whilst gaining a more pared-back look, a more supple shape, and a serious dose of ease. The supple form of the leather is a nod to the original style, with long handles for over-the-shoulder wear and a slight east-west silhouette to update the bag for 2025 (and beyond).

3. Balenciaga City

Originally introduced as the Motorcycle bag in 2001, Balenciaga's It accessory broke away from the more structured silhouettes of the previous decade. The ease of the bag brought a vintage, well-loved feel to the style that, alongside the lack of distinct branding, saw the bag become an insider favourite fast, as supported by a series of sightings on celebrities such as Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. 4. The Miu Miu Metalassé

Rather than the return of a bag, has come the return of a handbag motif: Matelassé. First introduced on the 2006 autumn/winter runway, the pleated leather effect on the handbag quickly became an iconic feature of Miu Miu's designs, and now it's set for a return.

Be it clothing or accessories, there's a joy-filled vein that runs through all of Miu Miu's creations, and the tactile ruching of the Matelassé lends itself perfectly to the brand's aesthetic. For 2025, the soft ruched motif has been applied to a series of new and returning icons. The Wander and the Arcadie are gaining traction with every day, both of which feature this pleated treatment. 5. The Fendi Spy Bag

As soon as the news arrived that Fendi was reissuing the Spy Bag, I knew I had to get my hands on it. A few months ago, I took the bag out for a day, and fell in love, once again, with the playful yet elegant appeal of the style.

First unveiled on the spring/summer 2005 runways, the Fendi Spy Bag quickly grew a cult following that launched the bag into the same stratosphere as the beloved Baguette and coveted Peekaboo. The dumpling shape is iconic of the bag, with double handles moulded from the bag's body, and a flap closure with a secret. Inside, a hidden pocket can be found, storing your most treasured possessions close to hand.

Whilst the original Spy bag came in a series of neutrals, bold shades and pattern mixing, the new version feels like an elegant older sister. The leather has been smoothed and softened, the handles less textured, taking on a twisted effect instead. The colourways, too, show the evolution of the style, ranging from classic black to rich burgundy.

6. The Louis Vutton Speedy

The Louis Vuitton Speedy bag has a long history dating all the way back to the 1930s. First presented as a travel tote, the luggage brand expanded into everyday accessories, updating the Speedy along the way. The original was made in size 30, then came the variety in sizes to offer more versatility to the wearer. With the iconic Louis Vuitton monogramming, the bag was eye-catching, a nod to its luxurious and well-crafted origins, notes that continue with the current styles.

The Speedy has maintained its prominence in the handbag world over the years, with popularity rising every so often alongside noteworthy collaborations. The early 2000s saw the first time that Louis Vuitton collaborated with Takashi Murakami, bringing rainbow monogramming to the beloved Speedy bag and once again igniting fashion's adoration with the style. It came to define the decade, spotted on a series of celebrities, in films and featuring on wish lists across the globe. Twenty years on, the second drop arrived, and the Speedy once again was thrust into the limelight.

Whilst many counted down to the release of the second Louis Vuitton X Murakami collaboration, the appeal of the bag in its original colourways also returned. Over the past few months, stylish people have been adding the Speedy to baskets, unboxing their originals and searching resale sites to add this iconic style to their outfits.

7. The Celine Luggage

In the 2010s, it was rare to go a day without spying a Celine Phantom bag. Welcoming in the new decade, creative director at the time, Phoebe Philo, brought a sophisticated, structured tote to market, and the fashion crowd took note. Much like many of the It bags on this list, it was understated, elevated and had all the hallmarks to cement its place in the best designer bags list for a lifetime. Decades on, the current creative director, Michael Rider, has decided its time to bring it back.

Now named the New Luggage, the bag is returning for 2025, bringing with it the distinct elegance and ease, but with a twist. It's clear by now that 2025 is the year of the revived It bag. From the lightweight Puzzle bag to the Fendi Spy, this year, fashion houses are taking a nostalgic approach to new releases, and now another icon is set to return. After spotting a few original '00s versions at Copenhagen Fashion Week, it feels serendipitous that Mulberry's Roxanne bag has just been relaunched.

First introduced back in 2004, the Roxanne quickly became an iconic bag for the brand, going on to nestle itself between the Bayswater and Alexa in Mulberry's It bag lineup. The Roxanne was a bold style, featuring thick straps, a belted centre and large patch pockets on the outside, finished with embellished buckles and studs. It was completely fitting for the time, balancing style and practicality with a punky British edge and was spotted on the arms of style icons such as Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Mary-Kate Olsen. Now, for 2025, the Roxanne returns with the same charm it held before, but in a new, grown-up form.

Through the fantastical lens of Tim Walker, Cynthia Erivo brings the London girl edge to the relaunch of the Roxanne bag. For 2025, the bag returns in four distinct iterations. Closest to the original shape are the small and mini Roxanne, offering leather handles to carry in hand, as well as a longer strap for shoulder and crossbody wear. This silhouette is joined by a new shape, which completes the set: the Roxanne shoulder bag and mini shoulder bag. The new form has a single strap for shoulder wear, with gold hardware to complement the design of the bag. The bags come in an array of classic shades from reliable black to autumnal brown suede, crafted from leather sourced from environmentally accredited tanneries.

The same centre belting can be found alongside the front buckled pockets of the bag, whilst the added embellishments have been softened for a more streamlined silhouette. Still, the bag retains its iconic look, though with an updated refinement. It's a handbag that brings together practicality and style, and no doubt will follow the original in becoming a firm feature on stylish people throughout the new season, and for many years to come.

2025 has officially arrived, and I for one used the Twixmas period as a time to reset.

I've deciphered the pieces that served me most over the past year, explored some new outfit inspiration and identified the gaps in my wardrobe that are ready to be filled. When it comes to fashion people, we all tend to have our niche. Whilst I can appreciate all categories from an exquisitely made coat to a refined pair of boots, handbags are my real obsession.

The first designer bag to join my collection was in fact, a Mulberry Bayswater. Classic, understated and of course, beautifully made. That was over ten years ago, and right now my adoration of the bag has been revitalised thanks to its latest redesign, and I'm already predicting that this will be the It bag of 2025. In the midst of the shift towards elegance, Mulberry has taken an even more refined approach when updating the Bayswater for 2024. Of course the original still has great staying power, and that can be seen from the design details that are carried over into the Soft Bayswater's creation. For example, the panel detailing that leads from the straps all the way down the front of the bag, or the signature flap closure.

Where the design deviates from the original blueprint is subtle. The straps have been elongated, ready to be worn over the shoulder, as well as cupped in the crook of an arm as needed. From Alaïa's Le Teckel to The Row's EW Margaux, the defining silhouette of the moment is an elongated east-west shape, and the Soft Bayswater's stretched shape is subtle, thanks to the exposed side panels that further accentuate the shape.

Tassel details complete the bag, with a sweet touch of movement and texture on the sides. Unlike the Bayswater, the recognisable Postman's Lock has not been transferred over to the new style, but replaced with a simple foil embossing of the brand's name near the base, letting the design and quality speak to how high-end the bag is.

Currently, small Soft Bayswater is available in seven shades, though I have to say the black cherry version is my personal favourite and the one I predict will sell out first. Alongside, there's the regular Soft Bayswater, a larger style for those who look for extra room, or simply love the oversized look.

It was on my 18th birthday that I received my first designer handbag. As my mum handed over a large grey box embossed with a Mulberry Tree, so began my infatuation with this particular accessory. It goes without saying that here at Who What Wear, we always keep a keen eye on what Alexa Chung is wearing. From events to red carpets, the designer is often seen in the most covetable looks, inspiring many an outfit idea amongst the editors on our team.

If you’re a regular reader of Who What Wear UK, you’ll know that Alexa Chung has been our number one girl, right from the start. "Conceived in the 1930s, this handbag became an icon more than 20 years after its creation when Grace Kelly tactfully used it to conceal her first pregnancy. Available in two versions, the Sellier, which is structured and elegant or Retourné, which is softer, sporty, and less formal, a Kelly bag is a true icon that will suit everyone."

Forget about wearing your heart on your sleeve. It turns out that this season, it's all about wearing it on your ear, and unexpectedly, I'm very much into it. Though I'm usually highly reserved when it comes to my choice of bijou, jewellery is the trend I'm least likely to buy into. However, earlier this year, I was taken away for a fabulous nine hours in Paris where I fell in love, not with a French man who makes croissants but with a pair of earrings.

At the end of February, Mulberry invited me to come and see its autumn/winter 2018 collection in the City of Lights, and I said yes. (Or "OMG, are you serious?! Yes!" as my email history suggests.) Regardless, I found myself there, in the middle of Mulberry's showroom at 11 a.m. with a glass of wine in hand (It's France!), surrounded by some of the most beautiful clothing I've ever seen. All of a sudden, a fellow journalist squealed with delight and said, "Just look at those earrings!"

There, sitting rather unassumingly on a pastel plinth, was a pair of heart-shaped, pearl-adorned earrings, which were soon to become the most-photographed piece on display. Like a puppy in the office, a gaggle of editors (myself included) cooed as they leaned in for a closer look. The earrings were nothing short of perfection.

However, like Cinderella, at the stroke of 17:15, we had to dash to catch our train back to London. I knew I had a six-month wait on my hands before I could be reunited with the heart-shaped earrings. So slowly, life went back to normal. Until Alessandra Rich's earrings came to my attention.

I saw them first on Net-a-Porter's fashion director, Lisa Aiken. Featuring faux pearls and oversized, shoulder-grazing crystal hearts, they were too gorgeous to ignore. But was I really prepared to cheat on my Mulberry baubles? With still three months until they were available to purchase, I'll admit that I was tempted. Then, it wasn't long before Who What Wear UK's very own Joy Montgomery got in on the heart-shaped action.

There seems to be a consensus among members of the fashion community that New York girls just do it better. Paris might still be the reigning fashion capital of the world, but there's a certain je ne sais quoi about the way NYC gals dress.

To help us capture that essence, we enlisted the help of Marissa Webb, our resident stylist and full-time New York City resident. We asked her: What is this magical formula NYC girls use to get dressed everyday?

"I don’t think there is a must-use 'formula,' so I use that term loosely," Webb says. "However, I do think having a few styling tricks up our sleeves helps us New York gals pull it together every day."

Have your accessories ready to go! Always have accessories top of mind for days when you need to pump up your look and you don’t have the luxury of time. They can quickly take a look from simple to fashion-forward."

Because the pace of New York doesn’t slow down, we city ladies probably give our shoes a lot more thought than one would consider to be normal. One trick is pairing comfortable shoes with something dressy, or the reverse: pair dressy heels with something casual on top.

Always think of opposites and contrast–an outfit usually looks more interesting with items that fall under different categories. Think long with short, dressy with casual, soft with hard, and masculine with feminine. This could be as simple as wearing a nicely tailored, straightforward suit and popping on a pair of dramatic chandelier earrings.

Know the proportions that work for you. Wearing heavy, slouchy layers on top? Style them over something slim on the bottom. If you're going slouchy and baggy on the bottom, pair it with something slim on top.

Have your third piece ready. New York City girls know you always need a third piece, even if it's 100 degrees out; once you walk into the office, you’re going to be freezing.

You should know when to go bold or go neutral with your makeup. My formula is one of opposites: If I’m wearing something bright and bold, I play down my makeup, and if I’m wearing neutral colours and need a pop, I’ll add a punched-up lip or eye.

Lastly, all New York girls know: when you're not sure what to wear and you're out of time, you can always rely on black or white.
