If there’s one thing I can tell you for certain, without having even seen The Devil Wears Prada 2, it’s that a million girls would kill for the wardrobe. Nearly 20 years after the original, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are stepping back into their iconic roles, and if the first looks are anything to go by, the fashion—if not groundbreaking—is certainly breathtaking.

To say the sequel has a lot to live up to would be a gross understatement. The original gave us one of fashion cinema’s most iconic style transformations—second only, perhaps, to The Princess Diaries. As costume designer Molly Rogers put it: “In the first film, she’s a true fish out of water, and watching her evolution—especially stepping into pieces like the Chanel thigh-high boots—was everything.”

While the early reviews are already promising, there’s one thing I’m far more interested in dissecting: the wardrobe. So far, Andy Sachs has been spotted in an impossibly chic all-white look anchored by a Phoebe Philo tee and Nili Lotan barrel-leg denim, a razor-sharp vintage Jean Paul Gaultier suit, and a patchwork linen dress by Gabriela Hearst that feels destined to dominate summer moodboards. But, while Andy’s transformation may be complete, her relaxed, slightly undone edge is still very much intact, whether through easy barrel-leg jeans or the return of that oversized Coach messenger bag slung over her shoulder. Sure, It’s a far cry from the girl in the frumpy cerulean sweater, but there’s still a trace of that same undone charm—what 2026 has since coined the “messy girl” aesthetic.

Miranda Priestly, meanwhile, remains exactly as she should: impossibly polished. The foundations of her wardrobe are still there, in razor-sharp tailoring, floor-sweeping coats and elegant midi skirts, but this time, they’ve been reworked with a fresher, more contemporary lens. Of course, it wouldn’t be Miranda without an impeccable lineup of designer bags. From classic Chanel messenger styles to Bottega Veneta’s coveted Andiamo, the sequel is filled with both vintage gems and new-season icons, all sourced via Fashionphile.

If the first film captured the fantasy and playfulness of a before-and-after style transformation, the sequel looks set to explore something far more interesting: what great style looks like once you’ve fully grown into it.
Don't default to black shoes this spring. Instead, take your styling cues from New York's chicest and enliven your outfits with the energetic shoe colour trend that always elevates. Taking my styling cues from one of the chicest over-50s on the scene, I spotted Meryl Streep swapping a ubiquitous pair of black heels for a spring-ready shade of red this week.

Working with the red accents already woven into her outfit, she built a cohesive palette around a letterbox-red Nour Hammour Croco Embossed Day Jacket (£1925), red-framed sunglasses and a tonally striped Lily Silk Oversized Striped Silk-Twill Shirt (£159). Her pointed-toe heels, finished with the season’s coveted high-vamp cut, added depth and polish without overwhelming the look—playing into the vibrancy rather than competing with it.

Peeking out beneath relaxed white trousers, the sharp silhouette of the shoe brought a refined contrast to the fresh neutral base. That said, this vivid shade isn’t limited to lighter tones. It pairs just as well with classic blue denim or deeper hues, injecting a sense of warmth and energy that feels entirely right for spring.

Ready to get ahead of the curve?
It's been 11 years since The Devil Wears Prada was first released, but we're still not over the cult movie. Now, fans finally have something new to obsess over. In a just-released video, Meryl Streep arrives at the real-life Vogue offices to sit down with Anna Wintour herself, and the first scene plays out exactly like Miranda Priestly's arrival to the fictional Runway magazine. Translation: The assistants are flipping out and perfecting every last detail of the office.

The duo also hint at the movie during their interview. Wintour asks Streep about the most challenging woman she's ever played, and she hints that it may have been Wintour herself (since she was the inspiration for the Priestly character). "No, we're not going there, Meryl," Wintour said with a laugh. "That wasn't [challenging] anyway, that was fun," Streep replied. Excuse us while we watch this video on repeat for the rest of the day. Head over to Vogue's website to see Streep's stunning new cover for the glossy, and watch the video below.

Next, see our round-up of the best fashion blogs you should bookmark, right now.
We love the fashion world, but we can't help noticing that there are many misconceptions about how it works. For example, Fashion Week isn't all endless parties, not every job is straight out of The Devil Wears Prada, and yes, we do definitely eat. Harper's Bazaar editor Lauren Fisher tackles these myths here, but below, read some of our favourites from her list:

On Fashion Week: "While Instagram may make it look like nothing more than a stylish celebration of glamorous front rows, celeb-studded afterparties and carefully curated street-style looks, there's actually a lot of behind-the-scenes hard work that goes into Fashion Week... The biannual events involve a lot of running, hustle and very little sleep. (But we won't lie: there's a little bit of celebrating and champagne, too.)"

On dieting: ???"While we may love our kale and juice cleanses, we also know the importance of carbs. Case in point: the line at Hearst Cafeteria for pizza or burgers and the dessert station always outweighs the line for the salad bar."

On The Devil Wears Prada: "The myth that everyone working in fashion is a complete bitch has stood the test of time. Like any other industry, there will always be catty people, but just because we're well-heeled doesn't mean we automatically have a nasty attitude to go along with it."

Scroll
