Back in 2012, Mansur Gavriel's debut handbag collection—simple, structured leather buckets at reasonable, mid-tier price points—changed the It item game forever. It was a period where "contemporary" fashion (that's basically anything that's above high street but below the thousands and thousands one might spend on traditional power designer labels) was blazing an agenda-setting trail through the retail scene. Suddenly, previously alienated girls like us could pick up the directional design without selling a kidney, and when the cost of luxury leather goods was scaling new heights, the design duo (Floriana Gavriel and Rachel Mansur) swooped in to fill an important gap.

While the brand's offering has expanded exponentially in the accessories department—you'll now find grosgrain satin mules alongside a plethora of handbag styles from ultra-mini totes through to circular handheld vanity cases—MG has just launched its inaugural ready-to-wear collection, proving that slow and steady wins the style race.

Remaining true to the pared-back codes this successful house has been built on, the clothing is just as covetable—and, hallelujah, useful—as you'd expect.

The fashion crowds have been waiting with bated breath until the sneak-peek Instagram posts could come to fruition—and we've heard that it's the coats that are already selling like crazy. Remember when Mansur Gavriel first gave us a peek at its first shoe collection, back in September? Well, your five-month wait has finally paid off. Net-a-Porter just stocked an exclusive assortment of gorgeous suede Italian-made mules from the brand (and a few bags!), and we’re guessing they’re not going to stick around for long. The designers explained the aesthetic of the collection to British Vogue: “The shoes dovetail with the bags in that they’re also sculptural objects in classic silhouettes, which allow us to experiment with colour and fabrication.” The mules, a style everyone is clamoring for right now, will soon be the perfect complement to your spring outfits, or with a pair of cool socks if you (like us) can’t wait until the weather warms up to wear these beauties.

I personally would invest in a great handbag. It’s something that you use every day and, in a neutral colour, will last you for many years.

You need a beautiful pair of flats and a classic pair of heels. Select pairs that give a bit of personality to any outfit, but at the same time can be paired with almost anything. I also like to make sure I have a great pair of flats that I can wear on the days I know I’ll be on my feet all day, but still need to look dressed.

The perfect trench coat will never go out of style and is easily incorporated into many looks. 

Another investment piece is a great-fitting blazer that easily takes you from day to night. There are just so many ways to wear it—I personally love it to dress up a pair of jeans.
