Maybe it’s the true crime podcasts I listen to while cooking dinner or the CIA-level sleuthing skills women seem to be born with, but I am particularly skilled at ID’ing the beauty products celebrities secretly use. Whether it’s the nondescript bottle left in the frame of a dressing room selfie or the half-concealed, label-free perfume hiding in a bathroom shot, I often use my overstuffed beauty brain to identify the skillfully disguised products (labels turned away, bottles half-cropped) from the packaging alone. All of a sudden, fashion people everywhere are swapping their time-tested black shoes for a chic spring shade—and I have to admit, I’m tempted to follow suit. As much as I adore the reliability of a classic black heel or flat, this week I’ve found myself repeatedly drawn to shop my own pair of the red shoes trend that so many of my favourite celebrities are suddenly backing.

Making the case for the elevated shoe, I spotted Laura Harrier out shopping in New York this week. Recently one of our favourite L.A. fashion girls spent the last few days of New York Fashion week, attending events. Of course, with her came a handful of awe-worthy ensembles, each one better than the next. You'll never hear me say a bad word about black heels. In my closet live about 20 pairs of heels, and if I had to guess, I'd say that 85% of them are black. Don’t get me wrong—I love my black flip-flops, and during the recent string of sweltering summer days, they’ve been the pair I’ve reached for more than any other.

I arrived at the Who What Wear UK office this morning to the realisation that the satin miniskirt trend is taking off right now.

Styled by two of my chicest colleagues—who act as my in-office trend radar—I suspected I'd landed upon something special. Confirming my suspicions, a quick scroll through Instagram led me to the inimitably chic Laura Harrier, who has also put her weight behind the trend. So far, all signs are indicating a key spring trend.

Stepping out after the Miu Miu autumn/winter 2025 runway show—in which the actor walked a cream satin minidress and a glossy pair of pointed-toe heels down the runway for the House—Harrier slipped into a two-piece that championed my new favourite skirt trend. We've seen midi and maxi satin skirts rule city streets for a while now, but this shorter, more playful cut hasn't broken through until now.

A little less serious than the pencil skirt trend that was reinvigorated by the "office siren" aesthetic, this elegant iteration welcomes movement and sheen into an outfit, leaving it with a lighter, brighter finish that feels just as polished.

Between fumbling with laces and a fast-moving security line, they’re not as effortless as they appear. Harrier’s slip-on boots, however, were a revelation. With a thick sole for extra cushioning and zero fuss when it comes to removal, they’re a practical yet stylish upgrade for winter travel.

When it comes to trainers, I like to keep my collection minimal and functional. Just as versatile as white, I'd actually go as far as to say it's even more so, as its knocked-back tone tends to blend with other hues more seamlessly than its stark counterpart.

Also able to withstand a little bit of dust or dirt better than white pairs, the recent popularity of grey kicks tells me it is set to take off as the new neutral trainer that stylish people will want to wear well into spring. While I would never go so far as to suggest that white trainers are "out", grey trainers are feeling more tempting by the day.

Though fall technically just started, one specific handbag has already established itself as the season's front-runner, and not just. There really is no competition (at least not yet). Saint Laurent's Le 5 à 7 hobo bag, with its slouchy shape and spacious interior, has been a fan favourite for a few seasons now, constantly showing up on the shoulders of A-listers like Hailey Bieber and Laura Harrier. It wasn't until the French fashion house released a calf-hair version printed with leopard spots that the slouchy yet structured style reached viral status, selling out in record time on Saint Laurent's website. Now, following an impressive showing during Paris Fashion Week, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that fall 2024's first true It bag is here, and its presence in this year's zeitgeist is nowhere near its peak.

Saint Laurent's of-the-moment hobo bag was first spotted on two of its most influential ambassadors, Zoë Kravitz and Hailey Bieber. Bieber carried the bag back in July during the latter stage of her pregnancy, styling it with an equally talked-about leather bomber jacket, black trousers, and her signature '80s earrings for a church service with her husband. With an all-black backdrop, the spotted nature of her purse stood out significantly, leaving fans of the Rhode founder's style to inquire about the anti-quiet bag from the get-go. When Kravitz was seen around the same time at a dinner with Saint Laurent's creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, at Sushi Park in Los Angeles, the leopard-print bag was also in tow.

Saint Mleux wore the handbag on two occasions during her stay in Monza, showing off its versatile qualities in the F1 paddock. On its debut, she styled the statement accessory with a white crop top and matching knee-length skirt, also adding gold-rim sunglasses and strappy, flat sandals to the mix. Two days later, after wearing a leopard-print coat for Quali day, she paired the bag with a simple, bateau-neck midi dress in black and an alternative pair of flat sandals for a walk in the paddock with the couple's dachshund Leo.

Style Notes: With the clearly popular bag selling out, another similar style—the Bea, which is larger and more tote-like but with the same elegant and practical appeal—quickly took its place. The oversize open-top bag, which features the same golden hardware and leopard-printed calf-hair exterior as the Le 5 à 7, was spotted not once, not twice, but three times in late September, first on Bieber, then again on Harrier, and last, on Kate Moss.

Bieber paired her Bea with a matching Toteme leopard-print coat, black trousers, and red Adidas Sambas for a church service with Justin in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Harrier and Moss both debuted theirs in Paris—Harrier at Charles de Gaulle airport, where she was spotted alongside her fiancé, Sam Jarou, sporting the same '80s-style leather Saint Laurent bomber jacket that Bella Hadid and Bieber can't stop wearing as well as black yoga pants, a hoodie, and Adidas sneakers, and Moss outside of the Ritz Paris, styled with a black cashmere sweater, leggings, and knee-high boots.

The concave haircut features graduating face-framing layers that create an inwardly rounded silhouette. It's similar to that of the C-cut hairstyle with those flicky layers that frame the face and add shape and movement through the lengths.

It looks particularly great on mid-length hair and longer hair lengths. And thanks to those face-framing layers, it take the heaviness out of the hair to give your lengths more movement and shape, even if you're just air-drying. Summer's sun is finally glaring down, and many of us are beginning to feel a little frazzled in the face of rising temperatures. Laura Harrier, however, has taken the warm weather in her stride and has been styling an enviable rotation of summer classics and rising trends over the past few weeks.

Taking to Marseille, France last week, the actor stuck to a warm weather wardrobe full of hero buys that she could rely on across her holidays. As colour combinations go, there are a few tried and tested pairings that fashion people come back to on repeat. This week, however, two of my favourite celebrities styled looks with the very same under-the-radar colour combination that's yet to hit the mainstream. Combining pale yellow with a warm camel shade, both Emily Ratajkowski and Laura Harrier opted for what I think makes for a very expensive-looking colour palette I predict will take off this season.

Stepping out in their matching looks within a day of each other, Ratajkowski styled hers in the form of a soft yellow leather jacket that she wore with a black T-shirt and high-waisted camel trousers. Harrier then wore a suede jacket in the same buttermilk yellow shade that she paired with a slouchy camel shoulder bag. Keeping the rest of her outfit chic and relaxed, the actor completed her look with a fresh white tee, ripped jeans and sleek black mules.

Whilst celebrities are warming to this colour combo, the runways have also dabbled in the pairing over the past few seasons. One example is MaxMara's S/S 24 runway show, in which variations of the pairing featured on repeat, creating a fresh shade duo that felt relaxed, grounded and very refined. You might not think you've seen much of this combo before, but it's actually been around for some time now, albeit quietly, in the form of the leopard-print trend.

Leopard-print motifs have been a favourite amongst fashion people for the past few months, and camel and yellow outfits are reminiscent of classic leopard tones—think of it as a deconstructed take. The soft yellow and warm camel shades work so well together, and a stronger pairing of brighter yellow and chocolate brown also delivers a high-impact look based on the same principles.

In my years spent writing about fashion, I've come to realise that it's the little details that can make an outfit, no matter how basic it might seem on paper, really jump off the page. Laura Harrier's latest look is the perfect example of this.

Stepping out in L.A. last night, the actor kept her fashion reputation pristine, constructing an elevated take on "jeans and a shirt" that's just become my template for chic daily styling. Putting a 2024 twist on her wardrobe staples, Harrier swapped out a classic tee or white shirt for an elevated button down in a dark black shade. Wearing her shirt partially unbuttoned just so, she allowed the fabric to drape in a natural and relaxed way, leaning into her signature effortless style. Tucking it in, she then cinched her look with a trending western belt that worked to bring in an extra 2024 flush to the outfit—all the while subtly nodding to the growing cowboy aesthetic we're seeing right now thanks in no small part to Beyoncé.

Opting for a casual, straight-leg jean with a slightly more relaxed fit than the norm from Frame, Harrier struck the balance between feeling current (without going full wide-leg) yet timeless. Whilst horseshoe style and puddle jeans are having a moment this spring, the classic straight-leg jean has been on the up for many seasons now, making it a cult-denim buy with real longevity. Shoe-wise, she chose a pair of '90s-inspired, pointed-toe heels for a sleek finish. And don't think her earring choice is an accident, either—note how her silver studs echo the metal of her belt buckle? It's details like this that truly elevate an outfit; something Harrier is proving herself a master at.

"Reminiscent of last spring's 'Boy Bob', this style is an androgynous and editorial look drenched in gloss and moisture and is incredibly practical to achieve," says Smith. The wet-look hairstyle is officially back for spring, and Smith says that this one suits everyone. "The shape can be tailored to the individual, working with their features to create a length that sits between the lips and the mid-neck, and then styling products are used to give definition and hold, making it a great style for those who like their hair to feel controlled and refined," he says. "Tucked behind one or both ears, this can be combined with spring's popular side partings or single strands."

The wet look is a great option for an evening when you want to make a statement, and another plus is that it's so easy to achieve. Before you go rushing out to buy hair gel though, Smith says that you can re-create the look with hydrating hair products that you likely already have. 

"Whilst nourishing leave-in creams such as Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother (£28) are ideal for the definition and hydration this style requires, a great trick for those who don’t find the time to do weekly masks or treatments is to simply style the hair with your favourite moisture mask," he says. "This will give the semi-wet-look effect and allow your hair to soak in goodness at the same time."
