From split ends to fuzz around the hairline, breakage is a sign that hair needs a little—or a lot of—TLC. Pretty much everyone has experienced this hair concern at some point or another, so there are tons of products out there to help. We enlisted none other than celebrity hairstylist and NatureLab Tokyo brand ambassador Andrew Fitzsimons, go-to guy for the Kardashians, Adriana Lima and other A-listers, to help explain what exactly causes hair breakage to occur, how to prevent it, and what to do when it inevitably happens.

"We may not realise it, but we put our hair through a lot of damage with everyday pollution, chemical treatments and the use of hot tools,” explains Fitzsimons. "Lack of moisture and excessive sun exposure can also lead to breakage,” he adds. In other words: Some factors are unavoidable, but others are more under our control—at least to some extent. Of course, the longer hair is, the more likely it is to break or have split ends. 

How can I prevent breakage?

If you’re a fan of curling irons or other tools, remember to use protective products—and to take a break now and then. "You can prevent breakage by spraying on heat protection before using any hot tools, and by minimising your use of them,” Fitzsimons says.

Shave your head and start from scratch. Kidding! Focus on deep hydration to help rectify the damage. "The best way to treat breakage is to use a weekly hair mask or deep treatment,” recommends Fitzsimons. "Personally, I’ve been using NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Masque since going platinum a while back,” the hairstylist says.

Even if you’re not one to keep up, it’s natural for us all to be a bit fascinated by the Kardashian/Jenner family. They’re ubiquitous, successful, and, chances are, different from each of our own relatives. But while our curiosity has lead to substantial amounts of time spent reading stories and bios about the Kardashians on the internet, we’ll save you one Google search of many that you probably have for the famous sisters—their heights.

After all, when you’re bound to covet Kendall’s beach holiday wardrobe or Kourtney’s take on the cycling shorts trend, it helps to know a bit more about how a garment looks on a 5’10” frame versus a 5’ frame.

While we're not starting in height order, the eldest Kardashian sister does come in at the most petite. She confirmed her height via Instagram a couple years back while sharing a Monday motivational workout message.

Though it's been removed from her site now, Kim responded to an inquiry on her blog back in 2008 about her body measurements, including her petite height.

I have been saying for some time that Kourtney Kardashian's style deserves way more attention, and the outfit she wore this week shows why. Indigo denim with white stitching and a belted waist is one of the coolest denim trends for 2018, and Kourtney is making me want to rush straight to Mango and H&M to dive head first into this trend. One trend I can never understand is cycling shorts. In my opinion, these should only really be worn on a road bike (rather as a substitute for trousers). But the Kardashians have been trying to make cycling shorts the new leggings for over a year—something I was dubious of until I saw Kourtney Kardashian's latest outfit. Kourtney wore a pair of black shorts with a cinched-in denim jacket and pair of mesh mules by Yeezy along with a teeny-tiny Louis Vuitton handbag.

I never thought I'd believe that the Kardashians should have even more press coverage than they do, but bear with me. Here it goes: Why doesn't Kourtney Kardashian's style get more attention? Kim Kardashian West's and Kendall and Kylie Jenner's every outfit have at least five online stories dedicated to them, and they have broken into the fashion industry as a result of magazine covers and partnerships. But Kourtney is doing something just as interesting (if not more) with her styling.

Over the past year, Kourtney has seriously upped her game, graduating from her signature leopard-printed pieces and Birkin bags to a more adventurous look that is still in keeping with the overall Kardashian aesthetic.
