As announced by VOGUE, the theme of the 2026 Met Gala is "Costume Art". As always, the theme is derived from the Costume Institute's spring exhibition. According to the centre's head curator, Andrew Bolton, the theme addresses “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection".

The museum reports that the exhibition will "pair garments with artworks to reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body". It continues, "from the formal to the conceptual, the aesthetic to the political, the individual to the universal, the illustrative to the symbolic, and the playful to the profound, these pairings are organised into a series of thematic body types that reflect their pervasiveness and endurance through time and cultures."

When it comes to the world of sport, style isn’t something that typically quantifies someone’s performance. But, when you look at someone like Serena Williams wearing a denim mini skirt at the US Open or Sha’Carri Richardson sprinting around the track in a full set of acrylic nails, you can’t help but pay attention. It’s precisely this reason why I’m keeping a closer eye on the pieces I wear when I’m working out. I’m not an elite athlete, let alone a novice one. (My exercise regimen starts with hot girl walks and ends with bi-weekly reformer Pilates classes.) But should that hinder me from looking considered and, dare I even say, chic when sweating?

Adanola is a viral activewear brand that shares this sentiment exactly. Founded over a decade ago, the Manchester-based label has quickly become one of the biggest go-to spots for sports bras and leggings in the UK for its softer approach to gym gear. Amongst exceptionally comfortable materials that offer both stretch and support, refined cuts that come in a wide range of sizes and a loyal base of celebrity adherents that include Kendall Jenner, you’ll notice Adanola thrives in creating modern silhouettes that are rendered in beautifully tonal shades.

Those who turn to brands like Leset for well-crafted and thoughtfully coloured wardrobe fundamentals and Aeyde for pared-back and intentionally textured footwear will find a kindred spirit in Adanola’s use of pigment. I’m not someone who typically finds myself endeared to finicky design elements like multiple zips, cross-body straps or waist-cinching boning, so having a brand that excludes these pieces from its offerings whilst maintaining an air of effortless elegance is really important to me as a consumer. Better still, the mutable palette means I can easily pull together a sophisticated workout outfit without thinking too hard. (Because an hour class is strenuous enough, let alone expending energy styling a look!)

What’s more, these are styles refined enough to wear from a mat class to my monthly brunch catch-up with my girlfriends. The fabric is designed to be moved in, which is great for days when I need to run errands after exercising, but still want to look smoothed and sculpted whilst doing so.

With all these factors in mind, it felt entirely right that I turned to Adanola to replenish my athleisure collection for 2026. But how did the brand live up to the hype? Ahead, I break down the pieces that piqued my interest most, review the brand’s best sellers and share my honest thoughts on whether the brand is worth the price tag. (But as my favourite instructor would tell you, it most certainly is, given how regularly I wear these styles.)

1. Ultimate Leggings + Ultimate Short Sleeve Top

My Review: Basics are the building blocks of any great ensemble. Once you’ve nailed the fundamentals, anything you layer on top of it will simply sing. When we’re talking about activewear, these flourishes usually consist of a pair of trending trainers and a functional bag like the bumbag-esque Pocket bag from Miu Miu. Still, the point remains.

In terms of the staple styles Adanola offers, you can’t overlook the brand’s Ultimate range. Particularly, the Ultimate Leggings and Ultimate Short Sleeve Top. As the name suggests, these pieces are the superlative style in Adanola’s entire collection and are designed for “doing everything, every day”, as the brand says on its website. Here, I’m pictured wearing both in a size medium. For context, I’m usually a UK 10 and stand at around 5’5” high, so you’ll typically see me cuffing, hemming or folding most trouser hems. Such was the case for these leggings.

Though it’s something I’ve become accustomed to, I want to caveat this for those who typically take their standard size, as I’ve found a few mixed reviews when it comes to leg lengths from my fellow editors who have also tested the brand. And, because Adanola doesn’t have any retail stores, you really are stabbing in the dark when it comes to selecting the correct size, especially since there are three lengths (regular, tall and ⅞) and eight sizes (XXS - XXXL) to choose from. In saying that, they do fit really well through the calf and thigh and also offer a compressing sensation that truly makes you feel more athletic.

As for the top, I didn't necessarily love the short sleeve as much as the leggings. As someone with a bigger bust, I found the t-shirt to be quite constrictive, which is saying something considering the fabric is designed to be skin-tight. I also found the seam along the shoulder to be cropped at an awkward angle, which led to a really stiff and strained feeling around the top of my bicep. I would’ve enjoyed it more if the tee had been cut more generously, as the fabric did sit quite heavily on top of my skin because of the taut finish.

2. Ultimate Wrap-Over Leggings + Ultimate Square Neck Bra

My Review: Another thing I really like about Adanola is that the brand really considers its designs. Instead of boasting superfluous design elements like a built-in holder for your phone, because whoever uses that slip that always appears on the side of leggings anyway, or panels that are designed to add an element of sex appeal where it’s not required, the shapes it puts out are intentional in working with your body’s natural curves and aiding movement.

The Ultimate Wrap-Over Leggings and Square-Neck Sports Bra are perfect examples of this. On the latter, I’m wearing a wrap top over it, as I found the neckline to be a little too risqué for my taste. (Cleavage at a 9 AM gym class is not what I had in mind for my activewear upgrade!) However, I did find the top to still be really supportive, despite my bigger chest size, and still kept my boobs sitting really nicely throughout the duration of a class.

The leggings also boasted this undulating curve, which is great for those who want to display a glint of skin. You’d think this wavy hemline would mean you’d be constantly adjusting throughout your workout, but I never found myself reaching to pull the band up once. Better still, it added an extra layer of support around my tummy, which was great for perfecting my form in tabletop positions.

3. Impact Seamless Racer Back Bra + Impact Seamless Leggings + Oversized Pocket Zip Through Fleece

My Review: The intersection of sports and style is always one ripe for innovation. Think: On’s CloudTec® technology for better strides, Nike’s Dri-FIT technology for sweat-wicking runs and even the way Adidas adopted the three-stripes as a signature branding tool. Now, Adanola has entered this cannon with a revolutionary new category launch: Impact.

Like Ultimate, this range is designed specifically for movement in mind. The main point of difference, as the name hints at, is the fact that these pieces are made for higher-intensity workouts in mind. Think: HIIT classes, spin, interval training and boxing. These pieces are made unique because of their bonded edges, contoured segments, a smoothed finish, and breathable panels. Intentionally seamless for a sleeker and more dynamic silhouette, the brand promises the new range “provides support through every rep and set, adapting effortlessly to every motion”.

Whilst I’ve always found Adanola to be supportive of my lower-intensity Pilates classes, this new Impact range certainly hit the mark for me on days when I wanted to break out into a bigger sweat. Thankfully, the fabric still felt buttery soft and lightweight, despite being compressive and contouring. I wore the Seamless Racer Back Bra in an XL, and although it was a bit low-cut, I enjoyed the fact that it had thick adjustable straps that could alter the level of support. I did think the buckle was slightly clunky and not as chic as the options available, so this is something to consider, as I regret not getting the tank top to layer over.

The leggings were really lovely, but I did have a slight gripe when my sock line showed underneath, a factor that comes down to their second-skin finish. The real star of the show was this ultra-cuddly fleece. With a lined interior and incredibly comfortable texture, this is the kind of thing that will make your weekend dog walks and early morning trots to get a takeaway coffee all the more enticing.

I've been lucky enough to get my makeup done by professional makeup artists a few times in my life. Whenever they ask if I have an ideal lash look, I practically shout, "Kendall Jenner!" I've always loved how long, fluttery and natural-looking her lashes look, regardless of whether she's snapping a selfie at home or walking a red carpet in full glam.

In the past, I've toyed with the idea of getting lash extensions to mimic the look, but I prefer a low-maintenance routine with minimal beauty appointments. Plus, I like to champion the no-mascara trend from time to time. So I turn to mascara.

L'Oréal Paris Extensionist Mascara

For context, I've only ever found two mascaras that help me achieve Jenner-esque lashes. The first is Refy's Lash Sculpt Lengthen and Lift Mascara (£22). It's been my go-to off-duty mascara for years thanks to a curved brush that lifts and separates my lashes and a flexible formula that never looks clumpy or obvious. It's the perfect "no-makeup makeup" mascara.

The second is another drugstore product—Maybelline's Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara (£13). Multiple celebrity makeup artists have recommended it to me, including Kelli Anne Sewell and Alexandra French. It's lengthening, lifting and curling, and it doesn't flake or clump, ever.

Needless to say, I was impressed by this L'Oréal mascara. The formula is thin, buildable, and flexible, so it doesn't clump, flake or get crusty throughout the day (IYKYK). The best part, though, is the brush. It's a short, dense, plastic brush (my favourite kind!). It distributes just the right amount of mascara on my lashes, sweeping up and out for exceptional lift and length.

The effect lasted all day, through a busy, 14+-hour workday. And when it came time to wash it off, I didn't need a thick, oily makeup remover. The washable formula came right off with my normal cleanser. Easy on, easy off.

I've worn it nearly every day since I first tested it. Now, I'm happy to announce that I've found my third go-to mascara for achieving Jenner-level lashes.

In fashion, reputation is everything. So, when a brand is preceded by an array of celebrity endorsements from the industry’s most prolific tastemakers, it’s going to pique my interest. Agolde is a California-based denim brand that has practically become the, well, gold standard for high-quality jeans. Despite its commitments to sustainable practices and contemporary silhouettes, the label has garnered mainstream attention instead for the starry clientele that endorses its designs.

It’s true, you’ll find Agolde jeans immortalised on the album cover of Taylor Swift’s 2023 re-recording 1989 (Taylor's Version), cemented in Hailey Bieber’s sensually oversized off-duty wardrobe and even stamped into pop culture iconography after Rihanna made the jeans a crucial part of her maternity wardrobe whilst pregnant with her firstborn. As a fashion writer who has made a career out of shopping, I’ve found that name and prestige alone can’t make something a success; it has to come down to the product it delivers. And while it’s safe to say these A-list adherents are indicative of a well-made and worthy pair of jeans, sometimes it comes down to taking matters into your own hands and reviewing the brand yourself.

But after testing the jeans myself over a series of weeks, I can easily see why these public figures are so enamoured with the brand. After all, these are people with access to the upper echelons of the industry and intimate with luxury brands I can only dream about owning. After being recommended this pair by my chic colleague and Who What Wear UK’s resident jean expert, Shopping Editor Florrie Alexander, I knew that they were bound to meet the hype. Whilst they weren’t as comfortable as the Harper, they did feel really lived-in, almost like I found them in a curated archival boutique. Off the bat, I do have to say that this style will really only work for those who enjoy their jeans fitted quite close to the body. As the name suggests, the style is characterised by a signature “pinched” effect at the waist. The effect is quite sculptural and sleek, but for those who don’t enjoy the hem of their jeans prodding into their tummy, I will say that this won’t be the size for you. I did find myself wishing for a size up, which ultimately is a risk you have to take when shopping online. However, the way they lifted my bum and smoothed my legs is something I can’t fault.

3. Agolde Low Rise Loose in Pure

Style Notes: Now, I’m not typically a wide-leg jeans or low-rise jeans person, but there’s just something about this style that was so hard to put down. For days when I wanted to slip into something more casual yet still considered, this is the pair I found myself returning to. Perfect for a pint on Saturday afternoon or a more ritzy evening dinner at one of London’s hottest small plates restaurants, this pair suited it all in spades. What I loved most was how languid they were, and yet never slouchy. On the contrary, they were hardly rigid to the touch, but still comprised that buttery feeling that Agolde has come to be known for. What let them down was the fact that the fabric lacked very little stretch, which felt hard to break in at first because the firmer material had me walking around like Bambi taking his first steps. Once the jeans gave out to my measurements, I did find myself not wanting to take them off, which is the ultimate testament one could give a pair of jeans.

4. Agolde Arc Jean

Style Notes: Despite the styling on Agolde’s website hinting this style leans towards a more ‘00s attitude, from the moment I put them on, I found myself channelling a different era entirely. If you can’t tell from my perfect white t-shirt (Leset) or basket bag (M&S), these curved and cropped jeans reminded me of the late fashion starlet, Jane Birkin and the ease and hedonism of the ‘60s. The perfect wash of blue, this shade reminded me of a spring morning in Paris or a summer’s evening in Saint Tropez; bright, golden and optimistic. Of the latter, petite women will rejoice in the fact that these trousers are actually cropped, meaning you’ll save a trip to the tailor or the inevitable bugbear of constantly folding and cuffing your hem. The slight roundness through the leg also offers a nice silhouette that offsets fitting tops and balances out boxy jackets, like leather bombers. (Though you’d never catch the Hermés muse in one of those, she’s more of a blazer girl.) The truncated leg length did take some time getting used to, as it’s rare to find the base of my leg exposed when wearing jeans. Nevertheless, I overcame this by leaning into the styling tropes displayed on Michael Ryder’s debut runway as creative director for Celine in the brand’s Spring 2026 runway by teaming them with heeled boots, an oversized coat and a silk scarf that I wrapped around my neck.

5. Agolde Luna High Rise Pieced Taper

Style Notes: Despite never owning a pair of barrel-leg jeans in my life, I was finally made a convert thanks to the Luna style. Slightly bulbous around the mid-part of the leg, I found the shape more of a cowboy-esque horseshoe shape than a true barrel-leg. But semantics aside, I really did enjoy the way this pair gave my body some dimension. With quite a dramatic and sweeping curve, I did find that they looked quite cartoonish online, but really softened when padded out by my thigh. This is the exact sort of thing any well-edited wardrobe would feature as it really does the legwork in elevating basics like black turtlenecks and leather loafers. Once wearing them, I found myself wanting to emulate Audrey Hepburn by tying my hair into a high ponytail and finishing with a ribbon to sweep everything back off my face and letting the silhouette shine.

What to Look Out for When Buying Agolde Jeans?

After reviewing what felt like Agolde's entire catalogue, I noticed a few crucial points to consider when shopping the brand. The main point, which is always the chief concern when buying jeans, is sizing. As someone with a very standard size UK 10 frame, I always find myself opting for a 27-inch waist when wearing denim. Typically, these dimensions will always fit. However, in some specific Agolde cuts, I found them to barely go over my bum.

For instance, the slim-line Cocktail jeans, which are a skinny style designed for occasions where you want to look more considered or dressed up, could hardly move an inch over my waist and didn't even do up, despite me taking my regular size. Inherently cavernous and celebrity-approved—you only need look at Jacob Elordi’s hoards of oversized intrecciato-leather Bottega Veneta carry-alls for proof of the shape’s popularity—these supersized utilitarian accessories have become a symbol of the effortlessly elegant aesthetic that’s currently reigning supreme.

However, for 2026, a more specific mode is emerging in the way that a certain occupation is inspiring the trendiest bag silhouette. Now, it’s not secretarial top-handles or bourgeois lawyerly briefcases, but a doctor’s bag.

When I first heard murmurs about the rise of the doctor’s-bag trend, an image of a old-fashioned, clinical design containing medical devices like stethoscopes, thermometers and that incredibly silly reflex hammer for knee-hitting sprang to mind. After first spying this trend in cult pre-loved fashion platform The RealReal’s annual luxury resale report, I couldn’t really comprehend exactly the style that was being outlined as the next big thing. Was the data really telling us to carry something that Meredith Grey or Nurse Ratched would wear to work? Not quite.

What Is the Doctor's-Bag Trend?

Speaking to Noelle Sciacca, associate director of fashion and strategic partnerships at The RealReal, she explains that doctor’s bags are "a structured style with a true rectangle shape and usually include a zipper closure and shorter double strap handles." Certainly less sterile and far more sophisticated than I had pictured. Sciacca told me that the shape of the doctor’s bag is the common thread that ties some of the most popular rising styles together, with "average selling prices and searches up 25% and 24% this year, respectively."

In a world where wellness culture prevails—the industry is reported to hit USD $9 trillion by 2028—it’s fitting that a style with medical origins soars to an all-time high demand. If you look at the designers who are pioneering the trend, you’ll also notice that this is a notion they’ve mined for a while now.

"I credit the release of Miu Miu’s Beau bag with sparking the doctor’s-bag resurgence,” says Sciacca. “The brand has a knack for presenting accessories in ways that create viral demand for specific styles."

However, even long before the spring/summer 2023 collection that delivered us the bag, Miuccia Prada had been exploring the concept of uniform dressing through the codes of healthcare. For instance, Prada’s autumn/winter 2023 show, which was aptly titled Take Care, saw nurses' skirts flipped into something visually poetic thanks to the addition of embellished rosettes.

Though I’m not suggesting that the adopters of this trend are necessarily consciously subverting the GP dress code, I can’t help but draw parallels between the doctor’s bag becoming a thing and the post-pandemic world that we live in today. After all, aren’t we more hygiene-conscious than ever? Especially living in London, I think this is the perfect bag style for someone who methodically rubs anti-bac gel into their hands after commuting and drinks a daily gut-health shot to ensure their immunity is boosted to max capacity.

Take Kendall Jenner, for instance. Sciacca tells me that the Margaux style itself is also one of the most prominent examples of the doctor's bag trend. "Whilst the style isn’t particularly new, it reached peak popularity the last few years, even selling for 108% above its original retail price on The RealReal," she notes. "It sparked a renewed desire for top-handle bags in clean, streamlined silhouettes."

This softer shape also appeared in the Olsen Twins' recent spring 2025 collection, as seen on Italian model Mariacarla Boscono alongside a lace-trim silk skirt, pinstriped shirt, cashmere knit and mesh boots.

Elsewhere in London, content creator Marilyn Nwawulor-Kazemaks sported her doctor's bag with a more contemporary outfit, including an on-trend windbreaker, barrel-leg trousers, flannel shirt and retro suede trainers.

Of course, you can also throw caution to the wind and take a page from Sydney-based influencer and writer Ali Whittle's style playbook. These glittery mesh flats might be a violation for the operating room, and you certainly won't see them allowed in any surgery, but given the bag's more architectural shape, the juxtaposition between the silhouettes feels right to bring a sense of individuality to a more sombre bag.

Jennifer Lawrence—who is currently on a press tour promoting a film that couldn’t be further from this genre, Lynn Ramsay’s psychological thriller Die My Love—first wore this look for a stroll through Greenwich Village.

For the occasion, the star wore a double-breasted black wool coat from Scandinavian knitwear brand Almada Label, a studded suede bag from Barcelona-based cool-girl label Gimagaus, a Loro Piana cashmere hat and on-trend leather sock boots from Le Monde Beryl.

For her part, Kendall Jenner eschewed her typical casually elegant West Coast aesthetic for something far more fitting for a West Village jaunt with her best friend, Hailey Bieber.

If money were no object, I’d have a closet that rivals The Row’s Mayfair boutique, complete with a James Turrell light fixture, mid-century modern furniture and the latest designs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have to offer. While that’s a dream that’s far from becoming a reality, I’ll happily resort to living vicariously through those who have the means to do so.

Indeed, there’s not much these chic dressers couldn’t convince me on when it comes to the luxuriate’s specific strain of opulent minimalism and irreverent signatures. The most influential moment, however, came earlier in the month when Kendall Jenner stepped out in a pair during Paris Fashion Week. The French capital is always such a well of fashion inspiration, and her look certainly cajoled me into lusting after the Canal loafers. In all my years as a fashion writer, never did I think I’d be reporting on a trend beloved by Sherlock Holmes, Chemena Kamali at bohemian-inspired French maison Chloé and Claudia Winkleman. But alas, the best cape jackets have brought me to this junction.

So, how did a jacket silhouette synonymous with the 19th Century find its way off the pages of a Baker Street-based detective’s tale and onto the runways of Paris Fashion Week and beloved British series, Traitors?

What Is a Cape Jacket?

A cape jacket, as the name suggests, is a hybrid outerwear style that is often cropped, billows out from the body, sits higher on the neck and has trimmed sleeves. Fictional connotations aside, cape jackets have always conjured two contrasting images for me.

Tinkering between opposing poles, this structured shield allies itself with both country and city contexts. With a theatrically enveloping shape, it easily assimilates with the bustling big smoke as well as quiet pastoral villages and forest environments. In the city, it has become quietly favourable for the designer set, with couture houses including Balenciaga and Dior co-opting this shape for its elegant clientele as far back as the '40s and '50s (though the earliest examples of cape jackets date to the 11th Century).

Indeed, associations with well-heeled, well-travelled "ladies who lunch" have made the cape jacket relevant again in the 2020s, with the most recent seasons awash with leather and wool versions designed for dressing up. The return of cape jackets can be attributed to Kamali’s debut collection for Chloé. In the label's autumn/winter 2024 runway show, the creative director kicked off her tenure by showcasing ethereal, tiered dresses layered under clipped smocks that bundled over the shoulders and gracefully fell to the elbow.

This act was soon adopted by the brand’s adherents, with everyone from Sienna Miller to Sydney Sweeney immediately throwing a cape jacket over their ensembles whilst running errands in London and L.A., respectively. Despite its lack of cold weather, Beverly Hills saw a slew of cape jackets emerge last winter, including a very covetable scarfed iteration by Phoebe Philo worn by Kendall Jenner whilst shopping at The Row’s Melrose Place boutique.

Like Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, the arrival of this footwear silhouette outside of the cosy four walls of our abodes was like one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. On the latter, you don’t have to tell me twice to embrace the flat. Earlier this month, I was perusing a Zara Home store in Athens and came across the most delicious slipper. Ivory satin and trimmed with faux fur, it was like an invitation to prioritise cosiness. Turns out, relaxation is the ultimate extravagance, after all.
