Rarely does a celebrity have a hold on us sartorially in the same way that Katie Holmes does, especially in the last few years. Whatever she wears, whether it's to stop into her local art shop or go out on a day date, we'll pay attention to it. Usually, we'll even copy it. Case in point: her latest look, which I personally have already bookmarked for plenty of future reference. 

For a summer day spent in NYC, the Dawson's Creek alum paired our favourite trend for any season really, an oversize button-down shirt, with faded black loose-fitting jeans, retro trainers, and a Kate Spade tote bag that added just the right amount of colour to the low-key ensemble. Uncomplicated yet noteworthy, the look, like so many of the ones Holmes puts together, is copy-able in every way. At least, I know I'll be making it my own in the coming weeks.

Leave it to Katie Holmes—the actress who single-handedly blew up the internet when she wore a cashmere cardigan–and-bralette duo from Khaite with vintage denim back in 2019—to debut the finest knit-and-jeans combo of the year thus far. On Monday, Holmes was spotted in New York City wearing what can only be described as my ideal fall look: a white T-shirt, Western boots, a cashmere cardigan and a pair of high-rise jeans that fit just right. Like so many of the Dawson's Creek alum's outfits, the look was casual and elevated at the same time, which I can tell you from experience is easier said than done. 

The real winners from Holmes's outfit are her jeans (which are mid-wash and straight-leg) and her cardigan (a pink-and-gray knit by Kate Spade New York that is somehow still in stock). Called the Colorblock Cashmere Gallery Cardigan, the two-tone sweater costs £295 and comes in a total of five colourways, ranging from red-and-pink to cream-and-white. In other words, there's one for every mood during sweater season.

Next, the coat trends everyone will be wearing this year.

The Middleton sisters tend to lean on a small number of British high-street brands again and again, including Whistles, Reiss and L.K.Bennett. However, there's an American label that they couldn't stop wearing this year—Kate Spade. On Pippa Middleton's honeymoon in the summer, she was photographed wearing a striped beach dress and a blue-and-white sundress by Kate Spade, and wore several of its tweed coats and jackets in the lead up to her wedding.
