Disregarding the sky blues and powder pink colours that have been trending for the past few weeks, Moss and Holmes emerged in their favourite spring shade: butter yellow.

Selecting a pretty flowing blouse in a muted yellow shade, Moss grounded her light spring layer with a black trouser pairing, anchoring the look whilst making the pretty colour feel much more wearable. Meanwhile, Holmes paired her pale yellow Zimmermann Cargo Jacket (£1400) and Cargo Pants (£795) with a chocolate-brown Scoop Bodysuit (£275), which she wore to sit front row at the brand's autumn/winter 2025 show.

Butter yellow might strike you as difficult to style, but I'm here to argue the contrary. Not a million miles away from a fresh cream hue, this chic shade retains all of the versatility of the staple neutral whilst injecting a fresh spring energy and a subtle flush of colour. Wearing well with other spring colours like pale pink and white, the trend feels all the more grown-up when styled with richer shades like creamy browns and inky blacks.

If there's one person out there who can convince me to give a new trend a go, it has to be Kate Moss.

A fashion icon with a long history at the centre of the industry, Moss has learnt a thing or two about the anatomy of a great outfit along the way. So, when she shows me that a "dated" is officially back, I'm not going to argue. Stepping out for a full day of Paris Fashion Week events, Moss emerged in the single denim trend that I had been hesitant to embrace. That is, until just now.

Proving that skinny jeans do in fact deserve a place in our spring/summer wardrobes, Moss styled a skin-hugging black pair of jeans that gave her look a sleekness and finesse that, honestly, no other jeans style ever could. A hot topic of debate in fashion circles at the moment, some are ready to embrace the slim silhouette, whilst others remain scarred by the oversaturation of the trend across the 2000s and 2010s.

Sitting in a third group, Moss is one of the few fashion people who never truly retired her skinny jeans in the first place. Sure, she may have got a little less wear out of her pairs over the past few years, but every so often, she's embraced the design, using its sleek and polished nature to her styling advantage.

Making the divisive jeans trend feel impossibly cool, Moss styled her pair with an oversized leather jacket in a glossy black hue. While Lila’s look feels completely fresh for 2025—largely because we’ve seen so little of skinny jeans in recent years—there was something strikingly familiar about it. On closer inspection, it became clear that her outfit was almost a direct callback to a look Kate wore back in 2012. The similarities were uncanny: the same sleek, form-fitting denim, the same elegant black blazer, even the same fuss-free approach to styling. The only notable update? Lila swapped her mother’s classic black heeled boots for a pair of trending pointed-toe heels, adding a subtle nod to current footwear favourites.

It’s proof that sleek styling transcends both trends and generations.

Style Notes: Winter calls for excellent boots, but with the faff of buckles and zips, they're not always the most practical to wear to the airport. Luckily, chic pull-on styles have been trending this season, and Elizabeth Olsen's pair have inspired me to shop some for myself.

Attending the launch party for her new Marks and Spencer X Sienna Miller capsule collection—set to launch online and in-store on October 31—Sienna Miller stepped out in central London last night carrying the specific bag trend I've seen celebrities reach for more than any other this season.

Whilst brown suede bags and bowling styles have roused attention so far this season, it's the animal-print bag trend that celebrities are putting their money behind right now.

Adored by Miller, who carried a rich brown zebra-print clutch for the evening event, the maximalist-approved accessory was neatly tucked underneath her arm and worn with a white three-piece suit and black satin heels. Adding a playful pop of print without dominating nor overwhelming her look, Miller's sleek pouch affirmed her excellent eye for style hasn't gone anywhere.

Far from the only celebrity to showcase the growing trend, I've also seen Kate Moss with animal-print bags on several occasions this year. Often favouring a fun leopard-print bag—as she has done since the '90s—Moss has utilised a feline-print bag to add interest and dimension to her casual outfits, all whilst retaining her famously effortless edge.

Transcending style crowds this season, singer Olivia Rodrigo was also spotted out and about with a sleek zebra-print bag over her shoulder. Wearing hers with a V-neck knit, brown miniskirt and a pair of tan boots, Rodrigo testified to the outfit-enhancing ability of the bag trend.

Hailey Bieber has woven it into her wardrobe too, pairing her Saint Laurent leopard-print tote with a matching coat. All in all, the celebrity style set has officially confirmed that the animal-print bag trend is one of the most important of the season.

Instilling retro energy into everyday looks—the trend was a mainstay in the wardrobes of celebrities across the '90s and early '00s—2024's revival of the trend has seen animal-print bags styled with similarly low-key looks that feel modern thanks to this key addition.

With her many years spent at the epicentre of the fashion industry, the model certainly knows how to spot a trend worth investing in, and that's precisely what happened this weekend when she debuted the new handbag trend to know.

Stepping out in Paris this week for a flurry of fashion week events, Moss emerged in an all-black outfit with a slouchy leopard-print tote in her clutches. Whilst the relaxed silhouette is worth noting in itself, it's the leopard print that really caught my eye.

Selecting a roomy tote from Saint Laurent, Moss used her leopard-print bag to add an unmissable point of interest to her outfit. Regarded by many fashion people as a neutral, the fun bag added a layer of dimension to her look, making it feel more current in the process. Entirely on board with the leopard-print trend, I spotted Kate Moss style another printed pouch over the same weekend, this time opting for a small, bucket-bag style. Wearing another black look, Moss stuck to the simple styling trick, again using her leopard-print accessory to elevate her Parisian look.

Moss isn't the only person in Paris obsessing over the trend. Who What Wear UK's editor-in-chief Hannah Almassi saw the trend firsthand in the French capital this week whilst dashing around the city attending Paris Fashion Week shows, presentations and appointments. Beyond the showgoers that saturated central Paris, she told me that real-life Parisians are the ones integrating the trending print into their daily outfits in the best ways, often in the form of cute satchels, but also via shoes, scarves and dresses, too.

A fixture on the runways in both the autumn/winter 2024 and spring/summer 2025 shows, the playful bag trend is set to continue its meteoric rise this autumn. If both Kate and Lila Moss step out in an upcoming trend, it won't be long until I'm searching for it myself. Both seen in France's fashion capital for a series of Paris Fashion Week appointments, the two models styled an autumn trend that's been flying under the radar for the past few months. Wearing the rich, decadent and cold-weather-ready velvet fashion trend, the pair reminded me that they're both regarded as modern trendsetters for very good reason.

Wearing their velvet garments to very different effects, the mother-and-daughter duo let their personal styles shine through. Lila took a moodier approach to her outfit, pairing her velvet trousers with a leather jacket, black almond-toe boots and a suede bag. By styling her velvet trousers with other heavy fabrics like suede and leather, Lila brought out the plush and lavish energy of the fabric, creating a rich-looking outfit that could see her well into the winter months. Taking a lighter approach to her velvet styling, Kate paired her velvet jacket with a sheer floral dress in a light, fresh colour palette.

It looks like it won't be long until we're all styling the re-emerging trend, too. Bringing it back to the fore, the A/W 24 runways indulged in the luxurious fabric, with supple suiting at Dior, decadent dresses at Giorgio Armani Privé and sculptural silhouettes at Ashi Studio—all laden in velvet.

Between Kate teaching us how to style the trend during these early autumn days and Lila showing us a winter-ready approach, the two have certainly affirmed that velvet deserves a place in your 2024 wardrobe.

When I was a teenager, my mum would tell me never to throw away any clothing I bought, assuring me that I'd eventually find myself buying the same item all over again—it was just a matter of time.

Whilst my teenage self rejected this idea, it’s now a decade later, and it seems she was onto something. So far, the 2020s have seen a revival of late 2000s and early 2010s style that I honestly didn’t think possible—and Alexa Chung is leading the pack. Styling a pair of relaxed shorts with semi-sheer tights and sleek kitten heels, she just revived an outfit formula that she used to rely on heavily over 10 years ago.

Once heralded as the cool-girl outfit, the mini-shorts-and-tights look epitomised the "Indie Sleaze" aesthetic championed by style icons Chung, and adopted by every Tumblr page that mattered. Worn by the masses with grubby plimsolls, the outfit became something of a go-to look we'd wear everywhere, from attending lectures to sipping on sugary alcoholic drinks in the student union.

Conveying the nonchalant energy that encapsulated the 2010s, micro shorts and tights served as an evergreen outfit solution that young Brits wore all year round. Whilst The Strokes were enjoying their heyday and smudged eyeliner was the only beauty hack worth trying, nothing provided the same satisfaction as pulling on a pair of impossibly small denim cutoffs over a fresh pair of Boots 40 deniers. But as Indie Sleaze slowly fell out of favour, so too did the outfit combination that dominated the scene.

Fast forward, and just like my mum said, the 10-year fashion cycle has kicked into gear. Prada's viral satin miniskirt pioneered the return of micro hemlines, and more recent seasons have seen the brand's playful younger sister push the boundaries of a summer staple we hadn't been giving much attention to. Whilst longline jorts were trending in the major fashion cities, the Miu Miu team was hard at work making the case for shorts so micro they resembled underwear. Blending the risqué with the risk-averse, the Miu Miu A/W 23 runway saw bum-flashing shorts layered over sheer tights and styled with modest cardigans—igniting a revival of each item in the process.

Since Miu Miu gave the combo its new-season makeover, it seems like the runways can't get enough. Dolce & Gabbana, Lapointe and Max Mara showcased their own takes in their A/W 24 collections, whilst Chloé and Buci backed mini shorts sans tights in theirs.

Transitioning off the runways and back into real life, some of the look's original pioneers are back for another round. Moss (pictured below) took a more pared-back and sophisticated approach, opting for leather shorts and sheer tights and finishing her look with sleek pointed-toe heels and a roomy knit. Influenced by a growing preference for minimalist style and easy elegance spearheaded by brands like The Row and Celine, 2026's take on the nostalgic pairing is nothing short of elevated.

Since the shorts-and-tights combination's original heyday, how we (and by "we", I mean those of us who wore it the first time around) express ourselves through fashion has changed drastically. Whilst the Indie Sleaze aesthetic encouraged an undone, messy and laid-back approach to getting dressed, the 2020s and our social-media-first lifestyles call for more finesse—and our clothing choices reflect this. So it's unsurprising that some of our favourite nostalgic trends have received a grown-up glow-up to adhere to our new set of polished, quiet-luxury-age expectations.

As someone who would wear a shorts-and-tights outfit at least once a week throughout my teens, I'm not just ready for another go—I'm completely here for it. By contrast, Kate opted for a black long-sleeve dress complete with a plunging neckline and thigh-high split. Although the pair weren't photographed together entering the awards, I do appreciate that they both explored the sheer trend in nuanced and modern ways. Would I have liked to see Kate resurrect her own "naked" dress for the occasion? Of course! But Lila's interpretation of her mother's most recognisable look is sure to garner the attention of a whole new generation.

This autumn, Kate Moss is back on our fashion radar like it's 1999. Having recently been spotted in a stream of chic ensembles in London and Milan, the queen of cool has caught our attention again, and this time for her effortless revival of a '00s favourite: a pair of tight-fitting, calf-hugging pedal pushers.

Whilst we're bang in the middle of a noughties renaissance (see: ballet flats), the return of pedal pushers has been slower to catch on. That was, until recently. Earlier this summer, Gigi Hadid was spotted sporting a pair of denim Jacquemus pedal pushers that she styled with kitten heels and a black tank. New York Fashion Week saw the street style set favour the 3/4-length pants, echoing the S/S 24 runways, where we saw calf-length trousers at Tory Burch, Phillip Lim and Mirror Palais.
