As much as I love nothing more than talking and writing about fresh trends—their ability to make even the simplest outfit feel instantly current never gets old—when it comes to the pieces I actually want to add to my wardrobe, longevity and versatility will always win out.

It’s been some time since we last saw this shape take centre stage. A staple of the early 2010s, the peplum top and jacket trend's popularity gradually faded as fashion moved towards looser, more relaxed tailoring. But now, nearly a decade later, it’s poised for a revival. And what better setting for its grand return than a couture fashion week? Schiaparelli, in particular, embraced the art of structure this season, enhancing natural silhouettes with architectural precision—further reinforcing the peplum’s place in modern wardrobes.

Beyond Parisians, the trend has found favour with celebrities attending the week’s couture shows too. Model Karlie Kloss showcased the peplum jacket’s polished appeal, pairing a sleek black double-breasted style with a knee-length pencil skirt, tonal accessories, and pointed-toe heels—her look elevated by her jacket’s subtly flared hem.

Meanwhile, Gen Z actress Jenna Ortega put her own spin on the trend, opting for an all-black ensemble that married classic sophistication with a contemporary edge. Thin hair may be low maintenance in some aspects (it requires little time to blow-dry and your salon appointments will be kept short), but it’s notoriously one of the most difficult hair types to style. Your main goal is probably all about adding lift, volume, and movement in order to create the illusion of thicker hair, but it takes more than a little effort to maintain shape and prevent roots from falling flat.

Of course, as with any hair type, getting the right haircut for thin hair sets the best foundation for finding a foolproof hairstyle. So what kinds of cuts should thin hair types request from the hairdresser? "Shorter styles adding textured layers for lots of movement can help the hair to look thicker and give body,” advises hairstylist and content creator Holly Carr. "And mid-length styles with soft face shaping are great for adding soft waves and still being able to put up. If you have long hair then Carr recommends keeping the weight in the ends. "Blunt cuts can help to keep the ends looking thicker and healthier for longer.”

When it comes to styling, Carr recommends creating waves or curls to add fullness. "You can curl the hair underneath or bring just a couple of pieces around the ears forwards toward the face,” she says. "This creates the illusion of thicker hair around the neck and face.” And for those who prefer up-dos? "Textured hair ups are also great,” she adds. "Try lifting the hair at the crown for volume and at the sides for width while any loose pieces add detail.”

So if you thought that having thin hair meant you didn’t have options, think again. With the right styling techniques and products, you’ll have hair that appears thick and voluminous in no time. Here are some of our favourite low maintenance hairstyles for thin hair.

1. Tucked Back Waves

The museum's new exhibition is Vogue 100: A Century of Style, so you can imagine the pressure was on for attendees to get their looks absolutely right for the occasion. Lifting our fashion spirits and easing us back into the swing of things this morning is Topshop, who have entered the New Year with a big Karlie Kloss–shaped bang; the lovely, lithe, cookie-baking supermodel is the high street brand’s new campaign girl. Shot in New York by Tyrone Lebon and styled by Topshop's creative director Kate Phelan, the eagle-eyed amongst you may recall this isn’t Karlie’s debut hookup with the Great British megalith. It was eight whole years ago that she kicked off her career, alongside Jourdan Dunn, in the girls’ first big gig not only for the brand but the fashion world itself.

Just when we thought the ups and downs of Oscar's fashion would complete todays news cycle, Karlie Kloss has dropped some major news of her own. According to Harper's Bazaar, Kloss has decided to relinquish her coveted Victoria's Secret wings for more, shall we say, cerebral pursuits. While the supermodel will continue to focus on outside modelling (#phewf), she has set her sights on furthering her education, with plans to attend NYU in the fall.

Giving up her angel wings is certainly a bold move, but one that's indicative of her star power far beyond the gilded Victoria's Secret stage. And while we'll miss seeing her glam it up on the runway with her best model pals, we are thrilled to know she's hitting the books, and perhaps reminding her fans that the good life involves much more than a pretty face.
