As we pointed out earlier this year, Gianvito Rossi debuted a sleek new iteration of mule heels: an open, pointed-toe silhouette that quickly earned the approval of several celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Rihanna. 3. PIFERI 

Inspired by architectural and sculptural shoe shapes, founder Alfredo Piferi launched his eponymous shoe line after celebrated stints at Valentino, Versace and Jimmy Choo (some of the best credentials in the business). And just when you thought the brand couldn't get better, all of the shoes are vegan and sustainably produced, so you can shop, wear and enjoy them guilt-free.

4. Bottega Veneta

Bottega Veneta had a revival last year, which you may have seen on Instagram. Although you might have seen the bags on the street style set, the shoes are perhaps the most covetable items from the new collection, and anybody who is anybody will have a pair of these soon. 

5. Neous

If you've seen a pair of sculptural shoes in a street style image, chances are they're by cult label Neous. And if this shoe brand only had one thing going for it, it would be the wearable heel height. Goodbye, party feet.

6. By Far

Instagram-famous brand BY FAR creates shoes around the £300 price point, and it's largely to thank for the square-toed sandal trend. Don't miss out on its great boots this autumn, though. 

7. 10TH FLOOR 

Inspired by women who aren't afraid to take risks, 10th Floor's statement shoes are designed with standing out in mind. The label was founded in 2020 by former fashion buyer and shoe designer, so you can expect expressive shoes that are works of art.

8. Tabitha Simmons

Tabitha Simmons launched her label back in 2009 and is loved for her feminine colours and silhouettes. Alexa Chung is a big fan of her elegant ballet flats, the easy way to do French-girl styling. 

9. Gianvito Rossi

Son of Italian designer Sergio Rossi, Gianvito Rossi launched his own shoe label in 2006 and has become one of the most beloved names in the industry. There are over 60 steps involved in making a pair of Gianvitos, so you know the final product is a finely crafted labour of love. 

10. Roger Vivier

Parisian label Roger Vivier has been creating dream shoes since 1937 and is one of the most esteemed names in the industry. Even the Queen has worn Viviers, a testament to each pair's regal finish. 

11. Dorateymur

London Fashion Week brand Dorateymur is another relative newcomer, and it's beloved for its celebrity-approved ankle boots and loafers with statement buckle detailing.

12. Maryam Nassir Zadeh

Maryam Nassir Zadeh is another name that exploded on Instagram and certainly lives up to the hype—the colourful pumps, plastic mules and leather boots are worthy of every single Instagram Like.

13. Alexandre Birman

Alexandre Birman is our go-to for romantic wedding sandals, and the bow-adorned Clarita sandals come in several heights and colours, meaning there's a pair for every single dress.

14. Malone Souliers

British brand Malone Souliers is another London Fashion Week favourite, and it's our go-to for bold heels. You can spot the Maureen heels on the red carpet at least once a week on the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Olivia Palermo.

15. Jimmy Choo

It's an oldie but a goodie. Jimmy Choo has always been the obvious go-to for event dressing, but we can't not give them credit for creating the most perfect knee-high boot of the 2020s: the Karter.

16. Amina Muaddi

Newcomer Amina Muaddi has set the standard for glamorous party shoes that stand out from the crowd. With feathers and crystals galore, these shoes are guaranteed to make you feel special. 

17. PARIS TEXAS 

Founded in 2015 by Annamaria Brivio, Paris Texas is inspired by the modern international woman who embodies the Parisian spirit of stylish sophistication and the Texan fun attitude. Signatures include eccentric details, head-turning colours, and feminine silhouettes that will upgrade any outfit.

And that's a wrap: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have concluded their whirlwind five-day tour of Poland and Germany. One of the highlights of the tour, of course, was their adorable travel partners, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, but Kate Middleton's outfits stole the show (as per usual). From affordable trainers to a beautiful Alexander McQueen dress, Middleton turned heads in each and every ensemble.

On Wednesday afternoon, for example, she wore a beautiful blue Catherine Walker coat. As it turns out, there's actually a hidden meaning behind her colour choice, as The Telegraph first reported. The newspaper explains the significance: "Berlin Blue, or Prussian Blue, is a pigment that was first developed in Berlin in the early 18th Century, and became the lead colour for the Prussian Army and for other German military uniforms up until the First World War when grey became the staple."

Plus, there's even a second possible meaning behind the hue. Middleton's coat could also be interpreted as cornflower blue, paying homage to one of the country's official national flowers, per The Telegraph. Who would have known? Ah, every woman's constant plea: that she may own and wear a pair of high heels that don't absolutely murder her feet and make her life miserable. We've done our best to help provide you with tips to wearing high heels without pain, but sometimes an expert must be brought in.

We asked our resident stylist Marissa Webb to share her pro tips for making heels as comfortable as they can be, and she had some dynamite wisdom to disperse. 

"Your favourite heels might look great, but if you can't walk in them, it really takes all the fun and beauty out of them," Webb astutely observes. "Some tricks I've learned over time have saved me on countless occasions."

If you have to choose between a pair that's slightly snug or slightly loose, go with loose; you can always pad them, but hoping they will stretch out usually ends in disappointment.

Every heel doesn't need to be 4-plus inches tall. I love a kitten heel, and they're almost like wearing flats; they don't put as much pressure on the ball of your foot, which is often the source of discomfort.

Take breaks from pointed-toe heels. Rotate between a round toe, open toe, and pointed toe. Sure, pointy might look great, but it certainly won't help your toes. Especially the poor pinky!

Even if you think you're in your most comfortable heels, be prepared if it's going to be a long day or night. A combination of padding the footbed and cotton balls stuffed in the toes is my ultimate solution.

My favourite trick is cotton balls. I figured this out at a hotel one night, when I couldn't find heel pads and one my right shoe kept flopping off. Stuff the cotton balls into the toe of your shoe until the fit is right. Keep a few extra in your purse for just such an occasion.

No matter what else you do, do not wait to break in your brand new heels at that special event you picked them out for. You haven't developed a relationship with the shoes yet, and you don't want to spoil the night by finding out too late that your heels have a mean side. Wear them at least once before the event so you know how to prep them properly.

One of the biggest challenges we ladies face with summer style is taking our favourite casual daytime looks into the evening. When you're at the pool, the beach, or brunch in a caftan, hitting the bar after in the same outfit isn't always the best idea. (Read: Beachy babe can swiftly turn into beachy mess.)

Structured handbags and dressy shoes paired with your favourite comfortable jeans give your comfortable look a more polished edge.

I love a classic T-shirt! I dress mine up by pairing them with lightweight wide-leg trousers or by layering a blazer on top. Adding something a bit more polished with something casual is a great way of dressing up your easy summer pieces.

Think maxi–maxi-length pants, skirts, and dresses. Toss it on and pair with your favourite heels or dressy flats, and maybe add a statement necklace to pump up these otherwise relaxed items.

Layers are key—not in your apparel, but in terms of what other items you can layer on top of your favourite cotton blouse and comfortable bottoms. Think down to your nail polish; often it's the little details that complete the look. Changing the accessory layer around your favourite comfortable clothes can transform a look. I rarely leave home without my bracelets, and I'm currently seeking more statement earrings to pair with my white T-shirts.

We spotted another incredible street style moment by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, which of course means that we scoured our sources to find out how to get the look ourselves. If there's one prominent female figure in the fashion retail world right now who does menswear-inspired dressing better than anyone, it's Banana Republic's Marissa Webb. 

Our resident stylist does borrowed-from-the-boys dressing so well—and you, dear reader, took notice. We've received a ton of questions centered around how to replicate Webb's signature style, so we decided to pick her brain on the matter. As it turns out, it's not as simple as tossing on a boyfriend blazer and going out the door.

"Borrowing from the boys doesn’t always mean literally wearing men's clothing," Webb says. "It's about contrast and proportions. However, I personally do not hesitate to shop in the boys’ section and borrow from my fiancé’s closet. Think of it as your options being doubled!"

The boyfriend shirt is an easy item to mix into your wardrobe, because the fit is a bit looser and easy. To pull it together, pair it with a skinny skirt or bottom for the juxtaposition of proportion. Then toss on a great pair of heels for that interesting contrast.

When styling the boyfriend blazer, it's not always about it just being oversize. It's also about the tailoring and the details. I often pair my “borrowed from the boys” blazer with feminine accessories, like heels or a scoop-neck T-shirt. Or I’ll add a belt to the natural waist to give it more shape.

Men's accessories are there for you to explore! I usually use them as an accent with more-feminine items from my closet. Ties and bow ties I’ll mix with a slim button-down or shift dress. Men's watches get mixed in with my other bracelets, and I actually prefer men's perfumes because they’re usually not as powdery and sweet.

Sometimes you just want that oversize cosy sweater. I wear mine all year round with skinny jeans, over a silk cami dress, or with shorts on a breezy beach. For me, in order not to look sloppy or like a big sack, it’s the play on contrast and shape that’s important. Mix in your feminine pieces, even if it’s just a bold lip for balance and to separate you from the boys.

It’s no secret that Target collaborations garner a lot of buzz. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know that most recently, it was Lilly Pulitzer for Target that sold out instantly—going on eBay for more than double the price in some instances. While we’ve loved all the collaborations to date, each in their own way, they got us thinking: What if we could choose the next one? 

And choose we did! While we don’t know how much actual impact our dream collaborations will have on Target’s next move, we had the amazingly talented Laura Kay of Diary Sketches illustrate them anyway!

While fashion's main claim to fame may be its seasonality—what's "in" and "out" is bound to change alongside the weather—there are some items that stylish women stock their closets with year-round.

We asked our resident styling expert, Banana Republic's Marissa Webb, to share her thoughts on which accessories can take a woman from season to season in style. Keep scrolling to see the six pieces she thinks every woman needs! 

You can never have enough pairs. Most people have their signature shape, but to mix up your look, I think it's worth exploring all different types every season. There's usually something new out there to add to my collection. It's also fun to explore different colour frames, and to shop in both the men's and women's sections.

You simply need to have your favourite shoe of the season.

Handbags are a great way to freshen up your look. I usually carry something neutral during the day, and love to add a pop of colour to my handbag at night.

I usually go softer in the winter and a little bit bolder in the summer, when I have a bit more colour from the sun. Lipstick shades are, of course, very personal depending on skin tone, so a lipstick that looks great on you might not work for me. It's important to try different brands to find the perfect shade for you.

Scarves are a great accessory for all year-round in different weights and fabrications. It's one of those easy pick-up items from your travels. They also make great gifts!

From the perfect Panama hat for warmer days to interesting knit caps for winter to brimmed hats in all their forms—hats are great not only for function, but also for flair.

For a long time, I never spent more than about $150 on a pair of shoes. I forayed in everything from sub-$30 shoes (a dabbling I strongly recommend against after one very painful romp across Midtown Manhattan) to $400 booties on sale for a remarkable $133 (one of my favourite sale finds to date!)—but never did I drop more than $150 on a pair. I simply refused, based on principle, on account of my love for thriftiness, and on a belief that, truthfully, is a $400 shoe that much more high-quality than a $100 shoe?

The answer, I’ve now learned, is that yes, it is. I recently donated 400 of my hard-earned dollars to a for-profit charity organisation otherwise known as Bloomingdale’s, purchasing this pair of Stuart Weitzman pumps that I simply could not refuse. When I saw the perfectly pointed stiletto, the subtle gleam of iridescence, and the deeply-cut silhouette of the arch, I felt that I had waited my entire life to spend so much money on one pair of shoes—and this was the pair I was destined for.

As my clicker finger paused over the purchase button, I pondered what I was doing. As a 28-year-old woman, I had finally reached the point where I felt like I should own a pair of shoes that costs a somewhat significant portion of my rent—ones that at least had the potential to elevate my personal style from respectable to undeniable. My feet needed an upgrade. Plus, this was all in the name of science: I had to test my long-held belief that expensive shoes weren’t that much better than shoes of average price points. I clicked purchase.

And I’m here to share with you, ladies, an unfortunate truth: Expensive shoes really are better than cheap ones. Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve gathered, point by point:

1. They’re more comfortable.

While stilettos are rarely if ever comfortable, this pair is without a doubt the most comfortable I’ve ever owned. Because the construction quality is so high, and the quality of the leather is too, I feel like my foot is being constantly hugged by my shoe—a sensation that gives at least the illusion of comfort, even when true comfort isn’t entirely present.

2. They feel much more stable.

What’s truly amazing about a well-crafted stiletto is that it makes you feel like you’re not walking on a stabby rod of metal, when in fact you are. While most stilettos I’ve owned have mostly resulted in me wobbling around like a maniac, this more expensive pair somehow makes me feel like I can walk like a normal human being in them. Unlike with shoes that are more cheaply constructed, I don’t feel like I’m tempting fate with each and every step.

3. They magically withdraw compliments from others.

As much as I don’t want to believe it’s true, expensive shoes just look better. If you buy a good pair of expensive heels, they tend to look expensive, which just equates to looking sleek, well-made, and stylish. While I am a big proponent of brands like Zara and ASOS, who have more affordable shoes that oftentimes look just as pricey as the real deal—I’ve come to believe that there is no replacement for true quality.
