Television's biggest night is not over yet. After the Emmys were handed out at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles earlier tonight, celebrities and their black cars zoomed all over the city to attend the after-parties—but not before a quick change of clothes! Sarah Pidgeon, for instance, stepped out of the lavender silk Chanel gown she wore to the ceremony and threw on a simple LBD for The Walt Disney Company's after-party.

The after-parties were also a great opportunity to see celebrities who didn't attend the actual ceremony. For instance, two of the stars of The Shards, Kaia Gerber and Igby Rigney, attended an Emmys after-party after skipping the main red carpet. Maybe it's a me thing, but I've been craving the thrill and suspense of an award show. Luckily, tonight is the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, where NBC's Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay is hosting live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. As a self-proclaimed binge-watcher, I'm all caught up on tonight's nominees, led by The Pitt with 25 nominations and Hacks at 24, breaking the record for a comedy series to date. But it's not just the potential winners getting buzz; it's the red carpet arrivals, too.

We're tuning in to see which designers tonight's attendees are wearing and get a glimpse of which trends will define 2027—or, in this case, which controversial trends. Shailene Woodley, who won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Hulu's Paradise last week, arrived on tonight's red carpet in a look from Pierpaolo Piccioli's Balenciaga F/W 26 haute couture collection.

The trend in question? Sequin-embroidered trousers. Woodley wore the divisive pants with their runway pairing, a plunging periwinkle tank, but traded the oversize coat for a pair of burgundy opera gloves. Woodley's stylist, Karla Welch, introduced more color with a beautiful collared necklace crafted from Venetian glass by HOWL. The flooded hem hides Woodley's, I assume, very tall heels.

Suki Waterhouse and her baby bump just made their debut at the 2024 Emmys red carpet in a stunning backless Valentino couture gown. 

If 2023 was the year of the girl—complete with frills, bows, and an ode to innocence—2024 seems to be the year of the mum. The Emmys red carpet marks one of the first occasions Waterhouse has stepped out after announcing her pregnancy with fiancé Robert Pattinson.

Waterhouse, who announced her pregnancy on stage at a concert, is attending the award show in support of her Daisy Jones and the Six castmates who are up for awards tonight. Camila Morrone, also dressed in red, is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie while titular star Riley Keough is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Following a long summer of seemingly endless time off in the sun, it's time for celebrities to get back to the award show circuit, starting with tonight's highly anticipated 70th annual Emmy Awards in downtown Los Angeles. With stars like Tracee Ellis Ross, Penélope Cruz, Issa Rae, Yara Shahidi, and Scarlett Johannson in attendance, the 2018 Emmy Awards red carpet was guaranteed to be as chic as they come.

Not surprisingly, many of the A/W 18 and impending S/S 19 trends were represented on the red carpet tonight, including neon and '80s glam. The beauty of the Emmy Awards is that it falls right smack dab in the middle of spring fashion month, so the nominees, presenters, and other attendees (who aren't wearing a custom-made dress, that is) have their pick of some of the freshest gowns available, straight from the runway.
