I monitor trends for a living, and right now it feels like everywhere I look, I find flip-flops. Whether it's rubber pairs for Euro-summer beachside afternoons or sleek leather styles elevated with a kitten heel, you'd be hard-pressed to step into any fashion crowd without spotting this season's favourite sandal.

That's exactly why I take even more notice whenever someone opts for something different. And this weekend, Dua Lipa did just that. Stepping out to watch the World Cup final, she bypassed the ubiquitous flip-flop trend, instead styling her straight-leg jeans with what is, in my opinion, an even more elegant alternative.

Rendered in an eternally chic snakeskin finish, Dua's low-heeled, closed-toe shoes brought polish to her otherwise casual outfit. She tempered the dressier feel of the printed shoes with relaxed straight-leg jeans, a white halterneck top and a white baseball cap. Tucked under her arm sat Chanel's 25 bag, whilst husband Callum Turner strode by her side.

Whilst leopard print has enjoyed seasons in the spotlight and cow print has had its own moment, too, snakeskin has never reached overexposed status. As such, it's retained a timeless quality that makes it feel just as relevant now as ever.

Always one styling step ahead, I just spotted Dua Lipa out and about in the autumn shoe trend that's set to dominate in just a few weeks' time. Stepping away from the flip-flops and barely-there sandals we've all been living in for the past few months, she instead reached for their antithesis: a pair of knee-high biker boots.

Poised to become one of autumn's biggest shoe trends, biker boots bring a slightly grungy edge to an outfit, which Dua put to work by pairing with a series of light, floaty dresses this week.

Spotted in the new-season pairing, not one, but twice, Dua first styled her Miu Miu Leather Biker Boots (£1890) with Marant Etoile's Preya Embroidered Cotton Minidress (£520), embracing the summer's white cotton minidress trend, all the while nodding to the autumn shoe trend that's yet to come. If you want to keep jeans in your summer rotation, then you'll appreciate the chic denim-and-sandals pairing I just spotted in New York. Stepping out in the city, Dua Lipa styled a classic pair of straight-leg stovepipe jeans with black leather flip-flops, bringing an effortlessly cool, '90s-inspired energy into her low-key look.

Congratulations are in order. After officially tying the knot at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall a few weeks ago—where the bride wore a custom, Bianca Jagger-esque Schiaparelli skirt suit and elegant wide-brimmed hat—Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have now shared photographs from the second chapter of their celebrations in Sicily.

For the first stage of the Italian festivities, Dua wore a custom Bottega Veneta halterneck gown featuring the house's signature intrecciato-inspired detailing. For the main event, however, Dua turned to a house with which she has a long-standing relationship: Chanel.

The bride wore a custom Chanel Haute Couture wedding gown adorned with feathers and crystal embellishments. The halterneck design featured a low back and elongated train scattered with delicate feather detailing. She completed the look with a feather-trimmed headpiece and a long embroidered veil.

Handcrafted at Chanel's ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, the gown brought together the expertise of several of the house's specialist métiers d'art. 480,000 beads were hand-embroidered across the dress, whilst the trompe l'oeil jewelled embellishments took 1,155 hours to create. The two-metre train was finished with 25,000 feathers, and Dua's six-metre tulle veil was similarly embellished with hand-embroidered beads and feathers for an elegant, cohesive finish.

The gown marks the first Chanel Haute Couture wedding dress designed by Matthieu Blazy for a friend of the house. As an official Chanel ambassador and the face of the Chanel 25 handbag campaign, Lipa's choice of wedding dress felt incredibly fitting.

Throughout each decade, they’ve brought their own respective taste to the relationship, from her Spice Girls-era little black dresses to his Real Madrid-days frosted tips and her WAG-inspired bleached extensions and Hermès Birkins. Bridging both old and new media, David and Victoria Beckham have always mastered matching one another’s sartorial energies. Though they’ve since levelled up from being the front pages of tabloid rags to helming their own documentary series chronicling their respective lives and legacies, the Beckhams have always used fashion to their advantage, making them the exemplar of a modern power couple.

Style Notes: Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles might be the most nascent couple on this list, however, the short span of their relationship should in no way disregard the countless displays of harmonious style. The actress and the musician began casually dating back in August after the pair were caught strolling arm and arm by onlookers. They’ve since taken their tryst international following on from this soft launch, showing up in Rome, New York and London to parade both their burgeoning romance and matching pieces from The Row. The definition of his and her dressing, you know a couple has a good thing going when the only envy you feel for them is the designer clothes on their backs.

4. Zendaya and Tom Holland

Style Notes: Tangled up in a web of Vivenne Westwood, archival Alexander McQueen and a dazzling Jessica McCormack engagement ring is none other than Zendaya and Tom Holland. The couple met on set as co-stars in Marvel’s Spiderman franchise and, like the Peter Parkers and MJ Watsons that came before them, fell madly in love. As one of the most prolific and incredibly polished actors in Young Hollywood, it’s fitting that Zendaya found her match in Holland, a former theatre kid from South West London who shares her passion for dance, drama and method dressing. As we gear up for the next instalment of the comic book adaptation, we can count on the couple’s press tour being as coordinated and theatrical as all their public appearances.

5. Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber

Style Notes: Looking good is a love language. Some couples interpret this by gravitating towards one another and blending their respective sartorial proclivities into a unified front. Others sway the opposite, recognising that their strength as a couple comes from their own individuality and strive to express this as much as possible. Any guesses which camp Justin and Hailey Bieber fall into? Acknowledging the allegiance to the latter, the Rhode Beauty founder told GQ in 2023 that they never align their looks ahead of leaving the house. As a result, we’re privy to this beautiful discord of prints, colours, cuts and shapes. A slouchy trackpant and a tight mini dress do not a pair make. Still, this clash works in their favour, showcasing their unique styles in a way that’s both incongruous and compatible.

Style Notes: It’s not often that a legacy reality star and an A-list actor get together. When it does happen, you get the pairing that is Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet. Serving as a modern equivalent is none other than George and Amal Clooney. The Texan-born star has recently stolen the spotlight thanks to his work with Yorgos Lanthimos, making every outing one that’s glamorous, gothic and a little alternative.

If I'm being really honest with you, every time I hear that a new celebrity is bringing out a beauty line, a part of me wants to say, "Really, another one?" Don't get me wrong, I use a lot of celebrity makeup and skincare brands, from Rhode to Rare Beauty, but these days it seems as if everyone wants to put their name to a product. So, when I heard that Dua Lipa was bringing out a skincare collection, you'd be right in thinking that I initially rolled my eyes and got on with my day.

But, actually, once I did a little more digging, I realised the upcoming Dua skincare line was different. Why? Because she has joined forces with one of the most luxurious skincare lines on the market, Augustinus Bader, to bring out a three-part collection (aptly named DUA™) that essentially replaces almost every single product in your skincare routine.

I've used Augustinus Bader products for quite some time, so I was immediately interested in this collaboration and wanted to know what made these products different from the brand's original offerings. So, like any good journalist, I hopped on a Zoom launch with Dua herself to get the full lowdown and have been secretly testing the entire collection before launch so that I can share my honest, unfiltered thoughts with you first.

DUA™ Skincare Review

What Is DUA™?

As mentioned, DUA™ is a collaboration between Dua Lipa and Augustinus Bader, offering a three-step simple skincare routine for glowing results. It's a collaboration that is said to have formed organically, with Dua already counting herself as a big Augustinus Bader fan.

As I'm sure you can guess, this skincare line is aimed at a slightly younger audience compared to Augustinus Bader's usual target market, and this is reflected somewhat in the price points. While a 30ml bottle of Augustinus Bader's bestselling Rich Cream will set you back £150, DUA™ products range from £32 to £65. While it's not the most affordable skincare line out there, it certainly feels a little more accessible.

The Products

Let's get into the products. Within the collection, there is a cleanser, serum and moisturiser: Balancing Cream Cleanser, Supercharged Glow Complex and Renewal Cream. The idea behind these three products is to keep your skincare routine as simple as possible. Let's face it, Dua leads a busy life, so it makes sense for her to take a streamlined approach.

Harnessing the power of TFC5™ (the fifth evolution of Augustinus Bader's TFC™ technology), each product works to support the skin barrier and enhance long-term elasticity.

If you're already familiar with Augustinus Bader products, you probably know all about TFC8™, a trigger factor complex that contains a blend of hardworking ingredients to support the skin renewal process. However, TFC5™ features a "reduced signaling intensity", making these products more suitable for a slightly younger audience (also justifying the lower price point). As explained by the brand, these products are designed to maintain "healthy-looking skin today while actively safeguarding its future."

My Review

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the products before they launched, and I've tried each one out to give you my honest opinions.

DUA™ Balancing Cream Cleanser

I really enjoyed this foaming cleanser. I would personally never reach for a foaming formula as I find them too drying on my skin; however, the fact that this is a cream-to-foam consistency means it feels rich and hydrating. It is effective at removing makeup and excess oils, and my skin feels clean yet wonderfully soft after rinsing it off. That being said, as someone who loves to double cleanse, I would probably use this alongside another cleanser (or perhaps use this one twice) for a really deep clean.

DUA™ Supercharged Glow Complex

The Supercharged Glow Complex gets a big yes from me. I love that this contains so many hero ingredients, as it removes the need for multiple serums in my routine. The formula feels nice and lightweight on the skin, leaving me with a noticeable glow. I've not been using it long enough to report on any major changes in the appearance of my complexion long-term, but it's already become a staple for me.

DUA™ Renewal Cream

Who knew that a moisturiser could feel so light yet so hydrating all at the same time? This is a great option for everyday, and it sits well under makeup. If you have super dry skin, you might want to reach for a richer moisturiser now and again, but I can see this becoming another go-to of mine.

Overall, I am really impressed with this entire range. It's refreshing to see such a streamlined approach to skincare, and I love the fact that each of the products works together to deliver the best results. The packaging feels incredibly luxe and true to the brand, yet has a slightly more modern feel that fits with Dua Lipa's cool-girl aesthetic. While the collection is still relatively expensive, it feels much more accessible for a brand like Augustinus Bader, and the technology and ingredients behind each product make it feel like a worthwhile investment. I can't wait to continue testing this collection out.

I love a good seasonal manicure. Rich espresso brown nails for autumn? Check. OPI's iconic Funny Bunny Nail Lacquer to mirror the winter snow? Obviously. But what about the in-between period when autumn nail trends seem like old news, but you don't want to commit to your winter nail shades yet? That, my friends, is when you need a good transitional manicure that will tide you over. And this year, I'm following Dua Lipa's lead.

While I was recently scrolling through the singer's IG, I spotted one of her signature cool-girl manicures, and it immediately struck me as the perfect fall-to-winter look. In the photo, she's holding fiancé Callum Turner's face as he kisses her cheek. (I, along with the rest of the internet, love their love.) Here's the close-up. It's a simple nail design, but in my opinion, simple nail designs are also the chicest. It appears as if her nail artist started with a base of crimson red before hand-painting a white line around the perimeter of each nail.

I love the berry-crimson colour of her nails, which feels on-trend for the season. And maybe it's because winter is coming and I have snow on my mind, but the white halo effect adds a nice, wintry touch. While this simple design can most definitely be re-created at a nail salon, I also think it could be done in a DIY fashion (for those who are intrepid enough!). Okay, bear with me. I know this combo isn’t new, but I haven’t seen it much lately, and honestly, I’ve missed it.

Whilst swishy white skirts and classic tees have been front and centre this summer, the graphic T-shirt and denim shorts pairing is currently making a comeback. And it looks just as good as ever. With a slight ’80s edge and an effortlessly cool vibe, the combo feels relaxed but put-together—exactly what you want in a summer outfit. And this week, two of my favourite celebrities gave it their stamp of approval.

Simone Ashley styled a vintage Backstreet Boys tee with high-waisted denim shorts, pulled together with a black leather belt. Simple? Yes, but the accessories made it shine. Her glossy shoulder bag, sleek sunglasses and a polished black belt elevated the whole look.

Dua Lipa took a similar route, wearing a white graphic tee tucked into cut-off shorts, finished with a gold-buckled belt and tall biker boots. It was casual but cool, and exactly the kind of outfit I want to live in right now.

If I'm ever standing in front of my wardrobe feeling unsure of what to wear, chances are I’ll default to a timeless pairing of a classic button-down and jeans. It’s a simple formula with a vibe that can shift drastically depending on the styling. Choose an roomy shirt in a supple, fluid fabric and the result is relaxed, undone and cool in an insouciant way. Opt for something crisper or more tailored, and suddenly the look feels polished, poised and pulled together.

But while the shirt and jeans do a lot of the heavy lifting, it’s the shoes I find that really steer the tone of the outfit. Proving my theory, Dua Lipa stepped out in Paris in a perfectly relaxed iteration of my favourite styling formula. Selecting a breezy shirt in a light blue shade, the singer styled her shirt partially unbuttoned, just-so, and worn untucked over her straight-leg jeans. Worn with a peep-toe mule in a glossy brown shade, Lipa’s shoes added just the right hint of skin, making the whole ensemble feel instantly summer-ready. In fact, I would say that the appeal of the peep-toe lies in the balance: offering the ease of a sandal, the structure of a heel and just enough exposure to feel light and fresh.

For some reason, it's always been a popular style amongst fashion people, perhaps because it offers a more trend-led alternative to the classic pump. Regardless, in my opinion, there are few summer outfits that wouldn't benefit from the addition of this shoe. And when paired with the eternally chic shirt-and-jeans combo, peep-toe mules feel right at home.

We've reached the point in the year at which it's not that abnormal to start thinking about autumn colour trends. After all, the first of the back-to-school adverts will probably arrive in a matter of weeks if not days. Her Chloé outfit consisted of the aforementioned coat (which was chocolate brown) and a pale lilac slip dress, also from the brand. We already all know and love the chocolate brown trend, which isn't going anywhere, and lilac is the powder pink-adjacent trend that was all over the A/W 2025 runways. As Dua Lipa proved, the combination of the two is a match made in heaven and will be the perfect pairing to make the summer-to-fall wardrobe transition.

What happens when Dua Lipa debuts not one, but two, stylish manicure trends? Beauty-editor mania, let me tell you. When the singer was photographed at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, my eyes quickly zeroed in on her artistic-yet-elevated fingertips (after spotting her Speedcat sneakers, of course). The mani appears sheer and milky upon first glance, but a proper zoom will have you noticing some stunning, strategically placed shiny elements. Forget classic French tips—this minimalist design immediately upgrades sheer polishes. Scroll ahead for all the pretty details straight from Dua Lipa's manicurist herself.

Technically, Lipa has had this manicure for a minute. She first shared photos of her star-studded tips in Hamburg, Germany, on the European leg of her Radical Optimism Tour. We can assume she adores the look, created by celebrity manicurist Michelle Class, as the pop star decided to maintain it for her Monaco Grand Prix appearance in Monte Carlo a couple of weeks ago—and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it ever since.

When you take a closer look at the design, it's not difficult to see why Lipa's such a fan. The sheer pink base has an ultra-glossy finish, as if she had dipped her nails in rosewater; this aesthetic, aptly dubbed the "watery nail" trend, has taken over our feeds as one of the most elegant-looking polish choices of the summer. (Think milky nails, but even more sheer and glowy.)

As if one sophisticated nail trend wasn't enough, the manicure also features tiny silver stars scattered around the nail plate. This delicately simple design elevates the look just enough while keeping the overall effect understated and chic. "People love a balance between clean and artistic," celebrity nail artist Saccia Livingston previously told Who What Wear about this year's mani trends, which is why I suspect I can't get Lipa's look out of my head. It just perfectly toes the line between classic neutrals and statement nail art.

While Class didn't reveal the exact polish used for Lipa's watery base, she did tag European brands Kinetics Beauty and Lucy Pastorelli Tools on Instagram. I'd wager she used a sheer number, plus a sharp-tipped spatula, to place each metallic star. When I think of Dua Lipa's style, one of the first things that comes to mind is cool heels. Even if you just barely keep tabs on her outfits and have an idea of her aesthetic, you probably know that her look is trendy, fun, and filled with the latest It pieces. It's my job to keep tabs on stylish celebrities like her, so whenever she posts outfits to her Instagram feed (which is often, luckily for us), I take note of all the trends she's wearing, especially on her feet.

I say that people will wear the trend with jeans this summer, because I find that when people do wear jeans in the summer, it's usually with cool heels and accessories, in keeping with summer's more playful vibe. Dua Lipa's pumps are from a yet-to-be-released F/W 2025 Conner Ives x Jimmy Choo collaboration, but in the meantime, I found a handful of cool zebra-print heels that'll look incredibly chic with jeans. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm definitely a flat-shoe over a heel type of person. As far as controversial shoe trends go, ballet trainers have to be my favourite.

Perhaps it's the commuter in me—the one that faces an hour's worth of trains, stairs and steps every morning and night—but their practical nature, comfortable fit and playful silhouette have entirely won me over. Now, as with all shoe trends, there's a hierarchy of styles out there, and whilst I've found it hard to get on board with every kind of ballet trainer I've come across, Puma's Speedcat Ballet Flats have officially earned their place amongst my favourites.

As January tumbles into February and fashion weeks begin rolling into each other, I like to take stock of the quieter trends that start to bloom amid the season’s heightened creativity. While the biggest runway moments often steal the spotlight, it's the looks worn by attendees and via street style that I like to focus my attention towards.

Fashion Month hasn't yet begun in earnest, but this week's Haute Couture shows in Paris have already started to sow the seeds for the trends set to define the season. We've seen dramatic peplum jackets on showgoers, sculptural silhouettes dominating the runways, and today, I’ve spotted another trend taking root—one I’m warming to very quickly.

Once deemed a fashion faux pas, the combination of wearing tights and strappy, open-toe sandals is having a moment. This week alone, I’ve spotted multiple front-row favourites embracing the styling trick, proving that fashion "rules" ought to be broken. The pairing is playful yet contradictory—both revealing and concealing in equal measure—adding a touch of unexpected charm to even the most polished looks.

Lily-Rose Depp and Dua Lipa were among the first to champion the look at the Chanel Haute Couture show. Depp opted for a classic tweed skirt set, grounding the look with silver metallic open-toe heels and sheer black tights. Lipa, on the other hand, leaned into a monochromatic aesthetic, styling her black miniskirt and jacket with a quilted Chanel bag and an oversized bow in her hair. The addition of tights and sandals and XL bow tempered the primness of her matching set, lending the ensemble a playful, retro-infused edge that felt refreshingly modern.

So, why was it considered a "faux pas"? It can sometimes look a little messy, more so if you can see the seam that connects the bottom of the tights peaking through the open toe of the shoe. However, position your hosiery right, and it can look very chick, as evidenced above. The pairing does carry a certain retro allure, too—perhaps because it harks back to the hosiery trends of the ‘60s, when tights became a statement in their own right.

Regardless of its roots, the message is clear: it's time to rethink seasonal dressing. Why limit your favourite summer shoes to warm-weather months when a simple pair of tights can transform them for year-round wear?

From crisp morning walks with a pumpkin spice latte in hand to watching the colourful leaves fall on the streets of London, there are so many reasons why autumn is my favourite season. However, planning the outfits I’m going to wear is by far the most exciting part, and although I welcome chillier weather (no one enjoys overheating on the tube), the inevitable UK rainy days still get me stuck on what to wear. I find that classic raincoats cover up too much of the outfit I want to show off, and whilst blazers look very chic, past experience has taught me that they’re a terrible choice in the rain.

Luckily, H&M’s new autumn collection alerted me to a timeless jacket that perfectly merges utility with style. Enter the Waxed Twill Jacket (£55), bringing the sophistication of a boxy blazer with the waterproof finish we need for the unpredictable weather to come.

The waxed jacket is nothing new, with heritage brands like Barbour credited for making the style so popular. However, unlike in the past, when the piece was heavily associated with royal fashion, celebs and fashion people alike have brought it into the mainstream for autumn 2024, and it makes any outfit look way more expensive.

Dua Lipa was spotted earlier this season wearing a country waxed jacket with shorts and a baseball cap, proving that the style is the key to giving an outfit the "old money" vibes we've come to know and love. Since then, we’ve seen several luxury brands such as Toteme release their own versions, but with H&M’s rich-looking iteration coming in at under £60, I’ll be investing in this affordable buy to wear come rain or shine.

H&M's waxed jacket is made of 100% cotton, so it's not only water-repellant and wind-proof but breathable too, so you won't feel damp after it rains. It's currently only available in one colourway, but the deep khaki shade and contrast black collar make it versatile enough to go with almost any other shade in your wardrobe. And as someone who has far too many black coats, I'm very happy to have this softer alternative in my wardrobe to wear with the brown, cream and grey tones I'll be living in this autumn.

I'll be throwing this on with everything from tailored trousers and a button-down for the office, to knitted midi dresses on casual days out. I'm even planning to wear it with a roll-neck jumper, miniskirt and heeled boots for dinners out this season.

After many seasons of Samba supremacy, the fashion set is crying out for a trainer palate cleanser, and I've just spotted a fresh contender worthy of rivalling the cult style. Spotted on Dua Lipa just this week, Puma's Palermo trainers are asserting themselves as 2024's new favourites.

Selecting a jet-black pair, the singer wore her Puma Palermos with white socks and a relaxed red cardigan in an Instagram pic. Wearing hers with a knee-length pleated skirt and a boxy leather jacket, Ratajkowski chose a monochrome pair to complete her elevated off-duty look. Whilst both Lipa and Ratajkowski have a penchant for the black iterations, Puma's Palermo trainers come in a whole host of shades. From light lilacs to chocolate browns, the collection taps into some of the biggest trainer colour trends circulating right now.

What Is a Country Jacket?

You wouldn’t think there were many similarities between Queen Elizabeth II, Harry Styles and Mrs. Prada. Save for their respective status as fashion icons in their own right, each has their own vastly different personal tastes. However, one commonality that unites them all is their love of the country jacket.

The late monarch’s adoration is arguably the most prevailing endorsement of the trend. When outside the prim interiors of Buckingham Palace and away in residence at the likes of Sandringham Estate or Balmoral Castle, Queen Elizabeth II shed her signature monochromatic skirt suits for more practical pieces that could suit her love of the outdoors.

The waxed country jacket was a crucial part of her off-duty uniform, complementing her Harris Tweed skirts and Hunter Wellington boots as she trodded through the pastoral grounds.

Of course, in a climate as precarious as the United Kingdom’s, it doesn’t take an expert to realise why country jackets are so rife. Regular downpours and brisk winds influence so much of what we wear, so it’s important to arm ourselves with something that can withstand these temperamental environments. (Even if we’re not far from the comforts of city life.)

It also offers a contrast to the more polished ensembles we’re used to seeing, adding a slight rustic touch when paired with straight-leg denim, polished skirts or pretty dresses.

Looking back, I think we’d all agree last year was dominated by aesthetics, “tennis core”, “office siren” and “garden girl” each took over the zeitgeist at one point or another but, in retrospect, it’s clear these microtrends didn’t have much staying power. However, the same can’t be said for the unexpected accessory trend we saw sky rocket last spring: bag charms.

Offering a playful update on day-to-day styling, the bag-charm trend was rife across the early '10s as fashion people adorned their most-prized possessions with fuzzy Fendi monsters and other such kitsch accoutrements. Award-show season is in full swing, and last night was music's big night—the Grammys. The highly anticipated red carpet for fashion and music lovers alike is here, and I cannot wait to discuss what iconic fashion moments came from this year's award show. The thing I love about the Grammys is that celebrities get to have a little more fun with their looks. It's not as formal as other red carpets and encourages the nominees to really show out.

There is a lot to think about when you're planing on getting a tattoo. Whether it's your first tattoo or another that you're adding to your collection, getting inked is a big (and permanent) decision. You'll no doubt be scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram for tattoo ideas and deciding what sort of design you want, as well as the size and placement. If, like me, you find the idea of a large tattoo daunting, small tattoos are a great place to start. 

Before you make you appointment, there are a few things to think about, says tattoo artist and expert, Sophie Floyd. "The first step is finding the right tattoo artist for what you want. Social media has made this so much easier as you can see an artists full portfolio and make sure their style is right for you," she says. "Your first tattoo is always very daunting and easy to overthink, but most importantly remember it is your body—if you love it, do it!"

Small in size, tiny tattoos are not only chic but can be discreet and delicate, which makes them ideal for a first tattoo. "Small tattoos are a great introduction to getting tattooed as you can get a feel for the experience start to finish, from being in a studio, the tattoo itself and how you feel afterwards living with your new tattoo," says Floyd. "I often ask my clients what their ‘end goal’ tattoo-wise is. For some people just one small one is enough, for others they want to build up a collection. If you know you’ll likely add more in the future, think about using placement wisely to get the most out of your canvas," she says.

Another thing to consider is placement. "Small tattoos are great as you have endless placement possibilities," says Floyd. "If clients are unsure on placement, I first ask if they want their tattoo to be more on show or easier to hide if necessary. If you want the latter some good placements are ribs, inner arm or ankle as most clothing can hide them easily. If you want to show it off, anywhere outer arm is my go-to, " she says.

As with any tattoo, small tattoos can be meaningful to you, or as a form of self-expression. "I love that small tattoos can either have a lot of meaning, or just be fun! Some of my favourites are shells, letters, cowboy boots, flowers and cherries," says Floyd. Of course, you'll want to make sure you follow up with good tattoo aftercare to ensure your new tattoo heals well and looks its best.

In the fashion world, every summer is defined by a dress. Last year, Zara’s green geometric style dominated the UK’s streets. And a few seasons ago, Ganni’s sleeveless sheer-sucker dress was in virtual baskets up and down the country. This year, the dress to be seen in is a pared-back style from French fashion house Celine. 

Appearing on the Celine S/S 23 runway, the black minidress caught our attention for its minimal and elegant silhouette. Embossed with gold Triomphe buttons—a signature of the brand—atop four corresponding welt pockets, the dress is sprinkled with considered details that elevate the design whilst giving a nod to Celine's Parisian heritage. 

Toning down the look, Hedi Slimane's vision sent the wool mini down the runway in Saint-Tropez paired with grounding biker boots, a grungy leather bag and oversized sunglasses. 

Of all the beautiful details on the dress, the one we cannot get enough of (and predict we'll see all over the high street soon) is the white piping that frames the garment. Celine's iteration is rendered in sequins, and this luxe detail follows the border of the dress, embellishing it with cool-girl flair and setting it apart from any other little black dress on the market.

We’re only at the beginning of August and this LBD has already been spotted on many of our favourite stylish celebrities. Last week, Dua Lipa shared images of herself in the dress in a series of Instagram posts dedicated to her European summer.

On a trip to Albania, Dua took the woollen dress to the beach—an unlikely setting for such a heavy material—but the deep open back and short length makes this a style that can be worn as easily in summer as in autumn. If you're anything like me, you've had May 1 circled in thick red pen for a while now. The annual Met Gala is back and bigger than ever, and I'll be here all night to cover it from every angle. As we've already reported, the theme of this year's Met exhibition is "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," so I thoroughly expect to see plenty of Chanel and Chanel-inspired looks. The co-chairs of the evening are Roger Federer, Penélope Cruz, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, and Anna Wintour.

There was a time in the not so distant past where your brows needed to be filled in, perfectly arched, and blocky in order to prove that you were clued up on the latest eyebrow trends. Bold brows, in general, were everywhere, with multi-step brow routines inspiring a boom in the creation of brow pomades, gels, pencils, and powders.

However, in recent years, makeup trends in general have evolved towards a ‘less is more’, natural-looking approach. Eyebrow trends have followed suit, with fluffy, brushed-up (verging on unruly) brows dominating on both the catwalks and our Instagram feeds. "I’ve definitely been using less in my brows and I know my clients have too,” says makeup artist and brow specialist Lucy Hart. "Brows are definitely a lot softer compared to previous years and I think for 2023, fluffy, natural brows are here to stay.” 

As far as experimentation goes, Hart predicts that bleached brows and the return of the skinny ‘90s brows are set to become a lot more mainstream in 2023. "Either way, brows are now all about looking low maintenance (even if they’re not) and not too ‘put together’,” she adds. "There’s an anything goes approach these days which means you can embrace your natural eyebrows and work with what you’ve got or what you know suits you, rather than committing to a cookie cutter trend like the ‘Instagram brow’.”

1. Bleached Brows

While it’s bold in its own way, bleaching your brows is about as much of a backlash to the over-filled, stand-out brow trend of yesteryear as it’s possible to be, and celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Julia Fox, and Lady Gaga have already embraced the trend, which is a sure sign that it’s set to be huge in 2023. 

"Most people will be surprised by how good bleached brows actually look, but I would recommend experimenting with this look before taking the plunge,” says Hart. "There are already brands releasing products for this look and I expect we will see more launch throughout the year.”

2. Skinny '90s Brows

Skinny brows have made a remarkable comeback, but again, it’s not surprising given that this trend contrasts so much with brow looks that are now considered to be ‘out’. It also makes sense, given we’re seeing the resurgence of so many other Y2K trends from the 2000s, like glossy lips and French tip manicures.

"On a personal level, it’s a no from me, but I can see how they are making a comeback,” says Hart. "I would just warn people to be careful as brows make a face, and once you’ve plucked your brows thin, it’s hard to get them back.” That said, we’ve already seen icons like Rihanna, Alexa Demie, and Bella Hadid nail this trend. "The modern way to pull off this look is to follow your natural brow shape rather than making them too arched,” adds Hart.

3. Laminated Brows

Laminated brows are here to stay. The innovative technique is basically the eyebrow equivalent of a lash lift or perm. Brow hairs are relaxed and straightened then brushed up and set into place, resulting in a full and fluffy effect that lasts for about two months. "This is such a low maintenance treatment because once you’ve had it done, most people don’t even end up using any products in between bookings,” says Hart. "People often get scared by a brow lamination but I assure them they won’t be stuck to their head, and it’s possible to adapt the result to suit each individual.”

It’s also easy to achieve this look using makeup. Rather than using pencils and powders to fill in brows, instead look to more malleable formulas like gels and pomades, which allow you to sculpt hairs into the desired shape. The key is to ensure hairs look separated, so brows appear fluffy rather than blocky.

4. Straight Brows

When it comes to the trending brow shapes for 2023, Hart has already noticed an increase in clients asking for straighter brows. "Lily Collins is always the reference with this look,” she says. "She have very strong, straight brows which don’t really angle until the very end.”

If your brows aren’t naturally straight, it is still possible to create the illusion of straighter brows. First of all, don’t emphasise the arch. Instead, Hart advises using product (a fine-tipped pencil or powder works best) to fill in the arch from beneath the brow. Essentially, you want to extend the natural shape of the bottom of your brow in a straight line until it meets where you brow angles downwards.

5. No-Maintenance Brows

This is the category I (firmly) sit in. Ever since the pandemic put a stop to my bi-monthly threading appointments I’ve taken a much more low maintenance approach to my brows. I no longer care if they’re looking overly thick and instead I’ve learned to embrace their natural shape—enhanced with just a touch of clear brow gel, and I’ve started using brow serums to address the gaps in them that I used to fill in with pencil. "People are focusing more on using brow treatments that they can maintain their brows with rather than layering loads of products on,” says Hart. "I myself have super full brows so applying thick product is just not needed,” she adds. 

If you’re not yet ready to step away from your brow routine, just take a softer approach. "Try a skinny brow pencil if you’re into more definition but apply it super soft on the skin so you can build it gradually,” says Hart. "I’ll still sometimes use pomade for my clients but the tiniest bit ever on an angled brush to create hair-like strokes, and you can always use a spoolie to remove any access product.”

It feels slightly off to be including knee-high boots in a roundup of trends since they're such a timeless silhouette. I'd like to think of them as both a trend and a staple, the best of both worlds. I'm obsessed.

Normally, I say to hell with fashion "rules," but a wedding is certainly one place where I'll happily abide by tradition as a guest—after all, it's not my day to shine. The unspoken guidelines include not wearing white and not upstaging the couple, and they're easy enough to follow for one evening.

That said, when the groom specifically asks you to wear white and dresses you in his own designs, that's a whole different story. This was clearly the case at the wedding of designer Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marco Maestri in Charleval, France. Nearly all of the attendees wore white to the celebrity-packed event, and the lucky ones, including Dua Lipa, were dressed by Jacquemus himself. Her completely sheer, underwear-exposing dress transformed in my mind from a rule breaker to the perfect French fashion moment. Those who know me will tell you I’m not very good at timekeeping. I am that friend who texts saying, "Sooo sorry. I’m just leaving now,” when actually I’ve just got out of the shower. I don’t really have a good excuse. Not only do I have the time on my phone, microwave, oven and wall clock, but also there is hardly a shortage of spectacular watches on the market that, if nothing else, serve the single purpose of getting you out of bed, into work and wherever you need to be in an orderly, calm fashion. Of course, that’s not their only purpose—they are also pretty. 

Since turning 30, I feel like I’ve really entered adulthood. Not by law, but in the much, much more real sense that I now do things like take my makeup off before bed, avoid entering my overdraft and actually pay a TV licence. And because being persistently seven to 12 minutes late is a fundamental personality flaw that doesn’t belong in your 30s, I recently made the decision to invest in a watch that I intend to cherish for the rest of my life.

After scouring many (and I mean many) websites, I’ve found myself looking to celebrities whose style I've always admired, asking myself, "If Rihanna can rock a Rolex, why can’t I?” Whilst I want a classic piece, I also want to be able to style it in a fashion-forward way. Whereas Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa and Reese Witherspoon demonstrate that casual, pared-back watch wearing, Simone Ashley in TAG Heuer is the answer to dressed-up styling.
