With Couture Fashion Week in full swing, I've turned my attention to Paris to see exactly what the city's chicest dressers are wearing right now. As editors, buyers, models and celebrities descend on the French capital, I've taken note of every summer silhouette cropping up again and again.

From the shoe trend dominating the front rows to the simple wardrobe basics seemingly every model is reaching for right now, read on to discover the five key summer trends emerging from Paris right now.

5 Chic Summer Trends Taking Off in Paris

1. Denim Capri Pants

Style Notes: The capri pants trend is alive and well this summer, but Paris's chicest have taken a more elevated approach to the trend. Rather than the leggings styles dominating elsewhere, the couture crowd is giving the trend a distinctly French twist by opting for denim capris in blue, black and white washes. Slightly more casual—and, in my opinion, far more interesting—these retro-inspired jeans have been styled with the city's favourite ballet flats and loafers all week long.

2. Two-Tone Heels

Style Notes: You only had to glance down at the pavements around the Grand Palais this week to know the Chanel show was taking place. Chanel's signature two-tone heels peppered the fashion crowd during Matthieu Blazy's presentation, but the timeless shoe trend continued to appear long after the show had ended.

3. White Tank Tops

Style Notes: Given the French knack for making wardrobe basics look impossibly chic, I wasn't surprised to see crisp white tank tops everywhere during Paris's Fashion Week heatwaves this week. Uncomplicated and always cool, the chicest French women styled theirs up with skirts, jeans and trousers to stay comfortable in style.

4. Pastel Pink

Style Notes: I expected to see some of the season's more divisive colours—chartreuse or royal purple, perhaps—dominating Paris this week. Instead, the standout shade was the prettiest pastel pink. Worn as an accent or styled head-to-toe, it's an elegant colour trend worth considering if you're looking to hone a Paris-worthy rotation.

5. Sporty Shades

Style Notes: Paris has developed a growing affinity for sporty styling, and nowhere is that more apparent than in its eyewear choices. Swapping '90s-inspired sunglasses and oversized bug-eye frames for sleek wraparound styles, the city's best-dressed attendees fully embraced the sporty shades trend this week.

If you’ve been inundated with shots of moulded corsets, beanstalk heels and knotted satin dresses all over your social media feeds, it should come as no surprise that we’re currently in the midst of the fall/winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture Week. The most prestigious of all fashion weeks, the bi-annual event is a showcase of wearable artistry, with the capabilities of hallowed ateliers and the exceptional work of the petites mains (a French phrase that refers to the seamstresses, embroiderers, milliners and button makers who create these garments) on full display.

Presenting a collection during the exclusive event is by invitation only, and controlled by Paris’s Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, meaning that only the most exceptional maisons can participate. The result is garments that are nothing short of masterpieces, often taking hundreds of hours to complete and rendered with painstakingly accurate, breathtakingly beautiful hand-stitched embroidery, flourishes, sequins and accents.

Each garment is then made to order using the precise measurements of the ultra-high-net-worth clients who have the extreme fortune of taking these creations home. However, for many of us, it is just a privilege to revel in the sight of these showpieces. That’s why whenever Haute Couture Week rolls around, it’s paramount to take the time to peruse each look and inspect every minuscule stitch and meticulously applied motif.

Despite a more considered and pared-back schedule, especially compared to the ready-to-wear seasons staged each February and September, there is still a chance that something exceptional passes you by. To save you the trouble, we've compiled a guide to the unmissable moments, exceptional looks and visual references that are dominating conversation in fashion circles.

Everything of Note From Fall/Winter 2026–2027 Haute Couture Week

1. At Schiaparelli, Gaudí, Ghostface and Kinky Silicone

For Schiaparelli’s F/W 26 haute couture collection, creative director Daniel Roseberry penned a manifesto on the "magic of creation" which can be "found only in total surrender to the unknown", as he wrote. "Codes—as beloved as they are—aren’t meant to be static," he continued, explaining his decision to eschew conventional Schiaparelli archetypes for something far more imaginative and inventive.

In place of literal anatomical motifs, subversive, surrealist faces were woven into dresses that resembled the Ghostface villain from the Scream franchise. In the place of keyhole symbols, vibrant fish scales adorned dresses and jackets to resemble the architecture and façades of Gaudí masterpieces, including Barcelona’s Casa Batlló.

Furthering the French maison’s innovative spirit, Roseberry fused quotidian materials with superb craftspersonship, creating breathtaking gowns made from subversive latex and dreamy silicone. Indeed, it’s clear that the upper echelon of fashion has caught jelly fever, with Roseberry rendering this gelatinous and aquatic material into sculptural corsets, coral-inspired skirts and sea urchin sandals.

These bustiers were a focal point for the panoply, made by carving the resin mould by hand before casting it with a porcelain effect and rendering it in hyperrealistic shades that melted to the body.

One exceptional moment came not on the runway but in the hours after. The closing look, modelled by Ivy Stewart, was whisked from the opulent parlour inside the Petit Palais where it was presented that morning and immediately transported to the red carpet at Leicester Square, where Zendaya wore it for the world premiere of The Odyssey that afternoon. Talk about an epic adventure.

Elsewhere, on the front row, Schiaparelli continued its procession of awe-striking designs with the silhouettes it dressed its guests in. Emma Corrin, ever the fashion chameleon, was washed in pastel plumage in a feather-adorned jacket accented with a funnel neckline and protruding, nipple-like talons.

Bad Bunny made his haute couture debut in a buttercream suit and gilded tie that appeared as though he was wearing a plait around his neck. Those in the know will recognise this as a callback to Schiaparelli’s F/W 24 ready-to-wear collection, which invoked the tailoring seen in Pippa Garner's 1987 photography collection, Future Man!

The subjects of the legendary 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning might’ve told us that reading is fundamental, but when it comes to fashion, referencing is clearly even more essential.

2. At Dior, Fans, Ferns and a Glimpse at Jonathan Anderson's Bridal Visions

Jonathan Anderson might’ve designed Taylor Swift’s wedding dress, the first haute couture creation of its kind for a celebrity since the Northern Irish designer took the helm of the brand, but he skipped the exclusive New York City nuptials over the weekend ahead to stay in Paris for Dior’s FW/ 26 haute couture show.

Despite remaining quite tight-lipped after the show—he told the press that "it was a joy to work with her"—he did provide a glimpse of what his vision for a bride would entail. In the esteemed couture tradition, he concluded his collection with a dreamy off-the-shoulder white gown, complete with resplendent fern motifs and rosette details.

Botanicals have been a consistent part of Anderson’s work at the luxuriate, from his lily pad heels to his frog chainmail clutches. This season, it took a starring role as the Jardin des Tuileries was transformed into a greenhouse flanked with black-lacquered wood and lined with fronds. On the runway, a verdant, grass-like fabric was woven throughout the collection, appearing in long robes, cropped bar jackets and fringed scarves.

But where boutonnières and embroidered petals constantly appear, Anderson used the collection to honour the work of American sculptor Lynda Benglis. Using her methodology of knotting and moulding as a framework for textile manipulation, Anderson created sumptuous dresses that pleated like accordions. This idea of folding hit a literal note in the suite of fans that appeared in the collection, perhaps a nod to the fact that Paris had just encountered a record-breaking heatwave in the weeks prior? Metallic plissé hats were also a highlight and cemented Anderson as not only an incredibly cerebral designer, but one who always relishes humorous touches.

On a more serious note, Dior also embraced the long-standing relationship between Benglis and artisans in the Ahmedabad and Gujarat regions by showcasing the Indian crafts of chintz and gemstone carving. The latter, a finely woven cotton textile bearing floral motifs, was on display through the clutch bags that bore antique chintz prints that date back to the 18th century.

If designing the most important dress of Taylor Swift’s life wasn’t the biggest thing to happen to Anderson this week, this sophomore show certainly is. But he wouldn’t get by without a little help from his friends: Sabrina Carpenter, whom he also dressed for her magnum opus Coachella headliner, Josh O’Connor, whom he dressed for Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers and Alexa Chung, who recently wore a custom chartreuse Dior dress to the 2026 Met Gala.

3. At Chanel, Mattieu Blazy Gets His Happily Ever After

Once upon a time, there was a man named Matthieu Blazy who landed the job of one’s dreams as the artistic director of Chanel. The designer knows his life is a fashion fairytale, and for the French maison’s latest haute couture collection, he materialised the whimsical universe he occupies, complete with climbing vines, beanstalk heels and magpie treasures.

The first model stepped out onto the runway carrying a century-old leatherbound book of fairytales that was owned by Coco Chanel herself. Compounding this ode to fantasy was the soundtrack, featuring snippets of The Lord of the Rings soundtrack and "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer, arguably one of the most romantic songs of the '90s.

The collection itself was laden with references to literary archetypes and folklore, including a miniature sleeping bear bag that would suit the Goldilocks amongst us and stilettos accented with thorned roses à la Beauty and the Beast. The Golden Goose, Swan Lake, Snow White and Princess and the Pea were all obvious references, too.

Elsewhere, the front row was matched with a dramatic lineup, including Teyana Taylor, Pedro Pascal, Sarah Pidgeon, Alexa Demie and Elizabeth Debecki. The most noteworthy addition was Joël Blanc, a French artist who specialises in live watercolour landscapes from prestigious sporting events, including Roland-Garros. In a world fixated on the return of physical media, could there be a more charming form of documentation than this?

The question that remains, however, is whether Chanel would get its happily ever after. Given that Blazy is quite the romantic, the answer should be obvious. In his imagination, however, the narrative doesn’t end with the princess being swept off her feet by her prince and heading down the aisle, despite the presence of a fantastical wedding dress.

Instead, he looks to the lives of Gabrielle Chanel and Princess Diana, ending the show with a "revenge dress" rendered in sultry black, proving that the women he designs for don’t need rescuing, but rather elegant clothes to write their own stories in.

4. At Balenciaga, Pierpaolo Piccioli Returns To Cristóbal's Roots

Cristóbal Balenciaga is heralded as one of the best couturières the world has ever seen. So, it is a demanding task to live up to the reputation of someone so esteemed that his nickname is “The Master”. His successor, Pierpaolo Piccioli, has always worked best in high-stakes settings, with the majority of his most memorable collections at Valentino the most dramatically staged. (Lest we forget the collections that were presented on Rome’s Spanish Steps, Venice’s 12th-Century shipyard or France’s Château de Chantilly.)

For his first haute couture foray as creative director of Balenciaga, Piccoli once again proved himself to be a maestro with a sewing pin. Here, silhouettes, shades and textures were the main visual story, remaining true to the essence of haute couture as a showcase of textile manipulation and craftsmanship. There’s a profound beauty in stripping things back to their purest form. Expressing restraint against conjuring a sartorial spectacle made each silhouette all the more extraordinary.

Here, Piccioli proved himself a virtuoso of colour theory, with the main talking point of the collection being the expressive use of vibrant shades. The collection really ran the gamut of high-octane hues, from vermilion coats to chartreuse gowns and aubergine draped dresses. Some of the standout pieces seamlessly combined several different shades, be it aquamarine blue and slate grey or piquant yellow and royal purple.

If colours were high octane, so were the silhouettes themselves, from the ombre petals that lined one dress to the sequins that adorned another and the rich plumage that cloaked Gigi Hadid as she made her return to the runway.

Though the collection took nine months to create, it isn’t a far departure from the oeuvre he’s been developing over the last quarter-century of his career. And if this collection is anything to go by, we can only wish to have several decades more of him at the helm.

5. At Jean Paul Gaultier, Duran Lantink Becomes Fashion's New Enfant Terrible

After the revolving door of guest designers—including Simone Rocha, Glen Martens and Haider Ackermann—Jean Paul Gaultier has found its artistic lead in Dutch fashion designer Duran Lantink. His debut collection for the French fashion brand had a lukewarm reception, with many criticising his departure from JPG’s signature isms—particularly the marinière stripe, tattooed mesh, and cone bras—as too far gone in the wrong direction. Those naysayers will certainly have a lot to quip about, then, with his debut haute couture collection nothing short of provocative.

The collection itself could be distilled into two desperate ideas. The first surrounded Lantink’s interest in the opulent wardrobes of Louis IV and Marie Antoinette. Rather than take a Sofia Coppola route and subvert the 18th-century silhouettes with contemporary touches, he took a far more digital approach. Indeed, the second theme woven throughout the collection was one that interrogated the role of technology in the creation of fashion.

Here, we melded crinoline skirts with protruding elements, creating shapes that can only be described as what Demi Moore/Margaret Qualley looked like at the end of The Substance. As it did with the former Queen of France, this collection really only had one ending, and that was to send people off with their heads. But what’s a fashion week without a shade of discourse, hey?

6. At Robert Wun, Haute Couture Is Simply "Childsplay"

Robert Wun has become somewhat of a haute couture darling, imbuing the week with an element of magical realism, irony and exceptional craftsmanship. Much like Viktor and Rolf, the Hong Kong-born, London-based designer uses his runway as a forum to create pieces that can conveniently never be worn in mundane settings. There’s no mistaking his pieces as wearable art, even if the remit of where these pieces are suitable for is fairly limited.

His latest collection hit a joyful note, invoking the essence of childhood in ballgowns splattered with splashes of paint, geometric dresses that served as literal building blocks and models carrying adult-sized stuffed animals, including a tweed bear.

The pièce de résistance, however, was the closing look. In a gown that’s reminiscent of the No-Face ghost from Spirited Away, Wun evoked the memories of pre-school parties with a train made out of colourful balloons. Call it a commentary on inflation, or the state of pop-ular culture, but at a time where the state of things feels so precarious, there’s something sweet about returning to this youthful innocence and a time where pining for a blow-up dog and a slice of cake was your only concern. Much like Chloé’s Disney Princess-coded jelly mules, fashion is regressing to its most innocent self.

7. It's a Wonderful World at Pandora With a Chic Party Featuring Alexa Chung, Harry Lambert and Dree Hemingway

As anyone who has attended a fashion week would know, some of the most notable moments aren’t on schedule. (Just look at the fuss Connor Storrie’s Saint Laurent PVC trench coat caused amid a record-breaking heatwave.) Copenhagen-based jewellery brand Pandora, capitalised on the fact fashion’s eyes were on Paris by hosting the launch of their new Pandora Wonders collection.

Co-created with London-based stylist Harry Lambert, the new range reimagines freshwater pearls into childhood-invoking shapes, including ice cream cones and whimsical mushrooms. To celebrate the release of the limited-edition pieces, Pandora and Lambert threw a party at Le Gratin with the chicest guest list, including Dree Hemingway, Alexa Chung, Pat McGrath and Paloma Elsesser. To accompany the novelties, the Danish brand leaned into the French salon feeling with freshly shucked oysters, caviar bumps and free-flowing champagne. We just hope everyone made it to their shows the next morning…

As much as I love nothing more than talking and writing about fresh trends—their ability to make even the simplest outfit feel instantly current never gets old—when it comes to the pieces I actually want to add to my wardrobe, longevity and versatility will always win out.

Take the peplum jacket. Suddenly a street style sensation at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, this refined silhouette exudes an effortless elegance that feels both timeless and modern. Across Paris’s cobbled streets, impeccably dressed showgoers embraced the trend, styling their peplum jackets with everything from matching skirts to micro shorts.

A masterclass in proportion play, the design begins as a classic tailored jacket, hugging the body before flaring out at the waist, creating a dramatic silhouette that emphasises the body's natural curves. Some iterations take a subtle approach, with barely-there peplum flares for a hint of definition, while others lean into the theatrical, incorporating bold sculptural cuts that add plenty of drama.

It’s been some time since we last saw this shape take centre stage. A staple of the early 2010s, the peplum top and jacket trend's popularity gradually faded as fashion moved towards looser, more relaxed tailoring. But now, nearly a decade later, it’s poised for a revival. And what better setting for its grand return than a couture fashion week? Schiaparelli, in particular, embraced the art of structure this season, enhancing natural silhouettes with architectural precision—further reinforcing the peplum’s place in modern wardrobes.

Beyond Parisians, the trend has found favour with celebrities attending the week’s couture shows too. Model Karlie Kloss showcased the peplum jacket’s polished appeal, pairing a sleek black double-breasted style with a knee-length pencil skirt, tonal accessories, and pointed-toe heels—her look elevated by her jacket’s subtly flared hem.

Meanwhile, Gen Z actress Jenna Ortega put her own spin on the trend, opting for an all-black ensemble that married classic sophistication with a contemporary edge. Styling her peplum blazer with shoulder-high gloves, semi-sheer tights, and sleek heels, Ortega proved that this refined piece has multi-generational appeal.

I always think about Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week as if it were the cooler, older sister to all other Fashion Week events. 5 STREET STYLE TRENDS FROM PARIS HAUTE COUTURE WEEK JUNE 2024

1. EXTRAORDINARY JEWELS

Style Notes: Statement jewels were huge news on the streets of Paris this week. Skirting the dainty styles that have dominated for seasons, more was definitely more, and oversized earrings, eye-catching necklaces and glove-like ring stacks were out in full force.

Style Notes: Putting a chicer spin on the enduring red colour trend, showgoers stepped out in all shades of ruby this week. With an opulent energy, the rich shade adds depth and interest to an outfit in a wearable and elegant way.

Style Notes: Naturally, this being Paris, the lingerie clothing trend was everywhere. Bringing sensual energy to styling, the underwear-inspired outfits delivered opulent and feminine silhouettes that matched the spirited energy of the runway shows that peppered the week.

Style Notes: There was nothing boring about the beige ensembles that we spotted across Paris Haute Couture Week. Featuring decadent feathers and dramatic frills, the muted colour palette allowed interesting textures and designs to come to the fore.

Style Notes: Whilst some showgoers layered on the colours, others took a relaxed, '90s-inspired approach to getting dressed. Favouring clean lines, a minimal colour palette and classic silhouettes, these elegant outfits championed refined French style in the best way possible.

If you thought Paris couldn't get any more magical, wait until you see what Couture Fashion Week 2024 brought to the City of Light. In a week of extravagant runway shows by some of the world's most talented design houses, Paris was alight with extraordinary theatrics for a brief few days. Whilst the shows brought high-drama design and spectacular creations, the city's streets were adorned in beauty themselves. Some show attendees favoured elaborate outfits when it came to dressing for the shows, whilst others experimented with elevated yet pared-back aesthetics, styling high-fashion looks that relied upon wearable staples.

6 STREET STYLE TRENDS FROM PARIS COUTURE WEEK 2024

1. DRAMATIC SHOULDER PADS

Style Notes: Adding a structural element to a simple silhouette, a roomy blazer with sharp shoulder pads is a foolproof way to add a hint of drama to your wardrobe rotation. That it's a look you could easily thrift—you'll find plenty of these silhouettes stuffed into Parisian vintage stores, as well as British charity shops—only adds to its appeal.

2. PENCIL SKIRTS

Style Notes: This season, longline pencil skirts are back on the fashion agenda (we've already spotted French women wearing them nonstop). Wear with sleek kitten heels or dainty ballet flats.

Style Notes: Showgoers protected themselves against January's persistent breezes in the chicest way possible—with scarves built into their outerwear. Of course, this trend isn't new (we've all been lusting after Toteme's original for a while now), but I'm pleased to see it's going the distance.

4. RELAXED LEATHER TROUSERS

Style Notes: A mainstay in the wardrobe of any fashion person from October until April, luxe leather trousers look so chic with a classic button-down, and can also be styled with a silk blouse or cashmere knit. This season, (according to Paris anyway), it's all about relaxed-leg silhouettes.

Style Notes: Nothing elevates a simple outfit like the addition of a relaxed Bardot neckline. For its simple yet sophisticated silhouette, the timeless design is a favourite during fashion week, but especially in Paris—I always see French women with their shoulders out.

Style Notes: High-impact, low-effort outfits are everywhere at any fashion week (especially from those jetting in from out of town who have minimal suitcase space). A matching skirt set offers an elegant ensemble that will always look polished without too much thought.

Bonjour and welcome to a gallery full of incredible street style looks. The Haute Couture schedule has been running for the past few days in Paris, and with the sun shining and the most exceptional clothes available, the result is an absolute feast for the eyes. Where the ready-to-wear shows in February and September offer a more realistic, filtered view of the trends and how one can incorporate them into an existing wardrobe, Couture is all about extravagance. It's a small pocket of time when the wealthiest shoppers descend on the fashion capital to cherry-pick next season's big purchases and showcase the pieces they've already invested in. It's wonderful timing ahead of the A/W 22 season to see which new looks might pick up momentum first, even if they exist on the more outré end of the style spectrum. For those of us who appreciate a dressing-up moment, Couture provides a few magical days where no gown is too big, no jewellery too sparkly and no combination too loud. 

We've had Szymon Brzóska of The Style Stalker on the ground to capture all of the most incredible looks. From luxe feathered creations courtesy of Giambattista Valli to modern monochrome looks from Chanel and surrealist creations from Schiaparelli, here are the wild and wonderful best street style looks from Haute Couture Fashion Week…

Style Notes: This dramatic corseted top over black trousers reminds me of a chic Emma Watson look from a few years ago.

Style Notes: A mix of vintage-look and modern accessories makes this combination very unique.

Style Notes: Balenciaga's It boots are suddenly cropping up everywhere, and they look great with bare legs in a very noughties way.

Style Notes: Schiaparelli's signature sculptural jewellery is nothing short of showstopping.

Style Notes: Cropped blazers are gaining momentum as a trend. Have you tried one yet?

Style Notes: Metallics are never not in fashion, but I particularly like the idea of a shiny skirt with a sharp shirt.

Style Notes: All the va-va-voom we'd expect from this time of year.

Style Notes: Feathers were a popular choice and give a strong indicator of the forthcoming party season's biggest trend.

Style Notes: Cut-out dresses are still a popular choice with the style set. Some went for significant reveals; others were subtler.

Style Notes: Full, swishy '50s-style skirts are making a comeback and look particularly fresh with crop tops.

Style Notes: When in doubt, go for a Beyoncé-worthy sheer gown, and you'll fit right into the Couture scene.

Style Notes: A sparkly jacket like this would look so cool with jeans for a night out.

Style Notes: An extravagant dress doesn't need loads of accessories. A simple pair of sandals will do.

Style Notes: Like a beautiful sea creature, this plissé pleated dress is a real stunner.

Style Notes: Sometimes, simpler is better. This elegant-shirt-and-denim-skirt combination is one that's easier to copy IRL.

Style Notes: Short co-ords have been trending hard all summer long. This bodice style takes the idea up a notch. 

Style Notes: Giving Morticia vibes, and I like it. Black dresses were chosen by many and will continue to be a strong choice going into autumn.

Style Notes: I would never have thought to put together a jazzy waistcoat and wide-leg trousers, but it works.

Style Notes: Tweed was the order of the day over at Giambattista, and it looks so cute with that gold trim.

Style Notes: Romantic floral dresses can be grounded by black accessories.

Style Notes: Olivia Palermo always nails the pretty dress code: guipure lace, bow shoes and a feather handbag? Tick, tick, tick.

Style Notes: This in a sweeter colour wouldn't be half as cool—the chartreuse shade makes it really individual.

Style Notes: Simply divine! A pink dress clearly never fails to impress.

Style Notes: My favourite look of all. This pink gown is just so joyful.

Style Notes: A Chanel jacket and jeans is a classic combination. Wide-leg jeans make the idea very current.

Style Notes: Off-the-shoulder blazers started coming to the fore a few years ago, but they look just as sophisticated now.

Style Notes: Biker jackets are big news yet again—the autumn shows were full of them in every colour, shape and finish.

Style Notes: Pink, swishy and feathery was clearly the order of the day.

Style Notes: A black maxi looks great contrasted with silver accessories. This Stella McCartney outfit is timeless.

Style Notes: Invited to a super-glam wedding? This is your inspiration.

Style Notes: Further proof that a black blazer works with absolutely everything.

Style Notes: Wearing one colour head to toe always comes off best with a mix of interesting textures.

Up next, Hailey Bieber's favourite moisturiser.

The sun's officially out—and it's accompanied by a bunch of new trends. The fashion set has taken a break from the holiday season to descend upon Paris for Haute Couture Fashion Week, and it doesn't look like they've travelled light. Suitcases full of the latest looks have already been plundered for new goods and fresh combinations over the past couple of days, and it's proving to be a useful boost for our current summer wardrobes. There are many new-season trends we've already become well acquainted with, but there's always scope for something different and this lot are already jumping ahead of what's popular right now in order to inject a little excitement into your hot-weather lineup.

Couture's streets are always more elaborate and decadent than the other fashion weeks, so we've decided to double-down on the looks we'd genuinely be able to imitate or be inspired from IRL. From the two most unusual trending colours the front row is backing (although, there's no sign of beige going anywhere soon) to the little accessory switches that appear to be making all the difference, here's what's going to be in no time at all…

Pink has been popular in fashion circles for a long time now, but a specific shade is bubbling up at the moment. When worn in one block, like Elena Perminova here, it can be rather striking.

It also looks cool mixed with other power pastels, as with Tiffany's retro suit and open-collared shirt combination here.

Salmon pink is strangely good with black accessories—not something that can be said for all pretty, light colours.

Do the double and wear a matching salmon skirt suit. You'll be ticking off next season's trends too.

Add to red, white and baby pink for a new take.

Literally everyone in fashion town is carrying this clutch right now.

It's the first time in a long time that pouches have been back on the menu.

It comes in many different iterations and finishes, like this classic woven leather.

The bag is beloved by minimalists the world over.

It's also finding its way into more adventurous closets.

Why not match your eyewear to the colours of your chosen outfit?

Vintage-style frames complete with tinted lenses are a subtle way to get your personality across.

And they make your world look like a 1970s movie, which is no bad thing.

Square-toed sandals, boots and pumps have been coming to the fore, but this week has confirmed them as the shoe style to be wearing.

From Bottega Veneta to Acne Studios, quite a few designers are catching on.

Square-toed mules (like Wandler's super-popular ones) are also proving to be a hit.

Sorry, biker jackets—blazers are still very much de riguer. And they're literally bigger than ever.

Worn as part of a trouser suit or not, the silhouettes are jumbo.

This can easily be controlled by cinching the waist.

Don't be afraid of jumbo proportions. Just balance out with elegant heels.

Or wear a long-line jacket with a very short skirt, á la Pernille.

The fashion crowd are eschewing the obvious summer prints like gingham and florals in favour of more unexpected patterns.

We've been seeing vintage etchings, Wedgewood-style motifs, wood prints and much more across the pavements of Paris.

That includes wearing traditionally wintry patterns—like checks—on hot days.

Mesh tops are particularly ripe bases for this burgeoning trend.

And let's not leave out camo (see the bucket hat?). That's going to be a bigger trend in autumn. Trust us.

Salmon pink has competition in the form of the yellow spectrum. From golden satin to butter yellow, last summer's favourite colour continues.

Yellow always works well with white accessories.

But don't be afraid to put a little something extra in the mix, like these clashing black sandals.

Maria's unbuttoned shirt styling trick is something we predicted would go mainstream.

When the women of couture aren't wearing one of the two power pastels featured above, the mood is still very much about neutral colours (black, beige, cream, white, etc.) worn in smart, pared-back separates.

Adding a little maximialism to a minimalist look can be done easily with a chain belt.

Sneakers instantly help make short hemlines look more casual. 

We're still not done with wearing beige tones head-to-toe.

Effortless.

Super-summery accessories always work with these colours.

Ladylike strings of pearls with a boxy jacket? Clever.

Undone hair and fancy earrings is one of my favourite combination.

Vest tops look all the most modern with a pearl necklace in 2019.

You can go down a more vintage route too—literally every pearl style is in right now.

Next up, how to wear last year's big fashion hits.

Wedding dress trends come and go, but one unwavering mainstay in the nuptial calendar is Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel bride. His commitment to his bride is legendary: At every show, the 84-year old German-born designer escorts his model down the haute couture runway as his final bow.

Over the years, Karl has created some exquisite dresses, from candied confections of sugar-pink tulle accessorised with a floor-length capes. A whole host of megawatt models have worn his bridal gowns, from Kendall Jenner to Alek Wek. But his favourite bride of all, however—the one he has wedded in holy catwalk matrimony more than anyone else—is Claudia Schiffer.

A whole host of celebrities have worn his dresses on their actual wedding days too, of course, from Poppy Delevingne to Keira Knightley. Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week always provides the most jaw-droppingly good inspiration at such a terribly dull time of the year. As well as hosting the magic that unfolds on the runways, this is where the style industry's most elaborate peacocks come out to trial 2018's early trends and showcase a selection of ultra-luxe new designer investments (of course, it's still all about the "total look"). Decorative coats, new designer bags and princess dresses have all been key thus far. The City of Light looks rather different this time of year, and we had a fabulous photographer on the ground to capture it all. Go through the gallery to see Romina Introini's best shots.

Bum bags are trending even on the streets—although they're velvet and covered in crystals, obviously.

When is a coat not just a coat? When it's entirely embroidered in red poppies, that's when.

The haute couture shows are like the Oscars of fashion shows—the pinnacle of the fashion community, if you will. Just. Plain. Unlike the millions of people who buy ready-to-wear clothing worldwide, there are no more than 2000 regular customers that actually buy haute couture.

How much does your day-to-day work uniform cost? Well, couture daywear starts at £7,000.

Even though the shows take place in Paris, it's not actually where the majority of couture clients are based. For Versace, the largest client bases are in India, Russia, and Brazil.

While ready-to-wear fashion shows can attract upward of a thousand people, only 150 regular clients attend the haute couture shows twice per year.
