It goes without saying that there are fashionable women all over the world. The French are experts in effortless elegance, the Italians how to be polished to perfection, Americans are all about statement dressing and Londoners are never afraid to take risks, but when it comes to the women whose wardrobes I most want to raid, the titles goes to the Scandis.

Equal parts minimalist (think Toteme, Malene Birger, House of Dagmar and Rohë) and free-spirited (Cecilie Bahnsen, Ganni and ROTATE), I always get just as excited to see the street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week as I do the shows. Why? Scandi women know to put together looks that have a feel entirely unique to their countries. Always the leaders and never the followers, it's likely any trend that is gaining traction now was on Swedish girls a year ago, and if it's spiking on social media, the Danish will have already been there and got the (viral) t-shirt.

Given then, just how tricky it is to dress for the new season transition, why not look straight to the professionals and see how Scandis are dressing for spring in order to inspire our own wardrobes? From the new blouse trend that could rival classic white to the cosy collared knit that you won't have seen coming, these are the six trends we're copying from our Swedish sisters in spring 2026.

1. Check Blouses

Style Notes: White blouses and jeans have become synonymous with European summers, but just a short hop across the continent Scandi girls are experimenting with colour and prints, most notably the check blouse. Usually spotted with wide leg trousers or balloon skirts, this pretty trend marries together the traditional blouse and check flannel shirt, creating the ultimate cool-hybrid. When we say "jeans and a nice top", this is what we mean now.

2. Paint Box Brights

Style Notes: One thing worth studying about Scandi style is just how well they effortlessly mix and clash colours (and look up Marianne Theodorsen, Janka Polliani and Emili Sindlev if you don't believe me). Unafraid of uninhibited brights, this spring forget sugary pastels, fashion insiders are stacking crayon colours to create joyful looks entirely their own. Sorry white tees, but we're looking at new basics now.

3. Wedges

Style Notes: Finally, a comfortable shoe trend that looks as good as it feels. While Brits are still being gently coaxed out of our socks and loafers, Copenhagen's best dressed have moved onto warm weather shoes, most notably the wedge, and in recent years it has evolved form a boho-inspired raffia shoe to a sleek and sophisticated day-to-night wonder. The last few weeks alone I've spotted patent, suede and animal print wedges cropping up in the collections of Scandi brands, but they always have an open toe and modest heel height in common.

4. Bucket Bags

Style Notes: While the fashion camps argue over tiny, micro baguettes versus ludicrously capacious totes, Scandi women have moved onto bucket bags. All the chic style of a smaller shoulder bag but with all of the practicality of a roomier top handle, bucket bags have been quietly climbing in popularity over the last couple of years, and with some recent releases from the likes of Versace, Dior and The Row, expect to see much more of bucket bags throughout the rest of this year (at least).

5. Sailor Collars

Style Notes: We've done Peter Pan, off-the-shoulder, turtlenecks, sweetheart, V-necks, and now it's time we had a new neckline and collar to talk about. Sailor collars are the latest way to draw attention to your décolletage, toeing the line between casual fit and smart tailoring. Whether on a pretty blouse or a chunky knit, these were a big hit during CPHFW, and Sézane's navy and white nautical inspired Claudio jumper immediately sold out during the brand's fashion week event and still hasn't managed to stay in stock.

6. Silk Shorts

Style Notes: Linen shorts are good and all, but there's something about the emerge of lingerie shorts that has our full attention. Lace trimmed, delicate and light, if you were wondering how to make such a skimpy short feel wearable, Danish women are grounding theirs with chunky knits up top for a look that suggests that you lounge around the house in pure silk and cashmere. Well, it beats a tracksuit.

Since returning from the whirlwind that was Copenhagen Fashion Week, I've been ruminating on all the wonderful things I saw, not only on the runways, but on the streets, too. The city has become a real hotbed for emerging trends and cutting-edge designers (hello, Anne Sofie Madsen, Nicklas Skovgaard and OpéraSport!), and being in the thick of it all was not only exciting but exceedingly eye-opening.

Sitting in the front row at the shows gives me unrivalled access to the runway trends in real time, but stepping outside and racing to the next event is also a real visual treat. Copenhagen is full of style mavericks, people pushing fashion boundaries and many an early adopter. And with those same people attending the shows, it's like art imitating life.

As an eagle-eyed stylist and savvy shopper, I've come away with a real hit list of hacks, styling ideas and clever ways to wear clothes and accessories now, which I'm banking on using for my own looks. And because I don't gatekeep, I thought it best to share them with you, too, dear reader. From doubling down on simple accessories to combining delicate and tough fabrics, monochromatic dressing and playing up pop colours, I've gathered seven genius styling hacks I spotted on both the runways and streets of Copenhagen.

The 7 Styling Hacks To Know From Copenhagen Fashion Week

1. Combine Leather and Lace

Style Notes: This pretty trend is set to dominate this spring, and the chicest dressers in Copenhagen have already caught on. Lace is the fabric and finish in question, but more interestingly, I saw it combined with glossy leather for a look equal parts soft and tough. Models walking for The Garment show wore classic tailored trousers, leather bomber jackets and sweet lace foulards tied around their shoulders, whilst at OpéraSport, I spotted a look consisting of a chocolate leather blazer, a white, lace-trimmed dress and bow-embellished pumps—just the kind of look I want to emulate this spring.

On the chilly streets, the best dressers mixed classic black leather outerwear, such as funnel-neck jackets and nipped-in blazers, with hints of bright white lace peeking out from underneath, or delicate stoles wrapped around their shoulders. This charming trend is easy to master: a trusty leather jacket combined with a delicately trimmed skirt, dress or scolloped scarf is the way to do it for spring.

2. Double Your Belts

Style Notes: I thought I was seeing double, and, as it turns out, I was. I couldn't help noticing this styling hack on both the runways and the bitter streets of the city, and not only is it elegant, but it's pretty practical too. Belts worn in pairs cinch knitwear, trousers, miniskirts and flowing gowns, giving a waisted fit and feel.

At Anne Sofie Madsen, two chunky brown leather belts nipped in a black, flowing, sleeveless gown, finished with a cosy fringe scarf and shearling Ugg boots. Over at Paolina Russo, school-uniform-like attire was subverted with low-slung waist belts in contrasting fabrics and colours, for a pop-punk look once pioneered by Avril Lavigne. Street-style stars took things up a notch, threading their double belts through winter-white denim and over the top of colour-pop cardis. Opt for belts in similar hues and cross them over or even double-tuck the ends, or, if you're feeling spicy, choose contrasting colours or textures.

3. Wear All Your White at Once

Style Notes: If you're a coffee drinker, scroll on now, as this vibe won't bode well for you. Copenhagen was giving serious blizzard at the start of the fashion week proceedings, and designers and street-style stars alike took note of the snowy hue that cascaded over the city. I spotted head-to-toe white looks outside every show, with fashion people matching their pillbox hats, capes, fur coats, trousers, skirts, tights, handbags and shoes in the tone Pantone is calling Cloud Dancer for 2026.

On the runways, Holzweiler and The Garment also provided palette cleansers, with frothy and ethereal layered looks all in similarly fresh and chalky hues. This styling technique is simple to imitate: pick all your items in the same colourless hue. Not only does it look extremely opulent, but it takes the mental gymnastics out of getting dressed in the morning.

4. Top It Off With a Chic Hat

Style Notes: I, for one, am already head over heels for this fashion hack, as it just adds a knowingly stylish finish to any look, and my love affair with a certain leopard-print number is already well documented. Trust me: topping your look with a chic hat, may that be a pillbox style, a shearling fisherman shape or a beret, will take your ensemble from zero to 100 in a heartbeat.

The streets of CPH were inundated with both minimalist and maximalist dressers alike, donning weird and wonderful headwear, significantly influenced by the sub-zero temperatures and the bitter winds that take over the Danish capital this time of year. Inside, away from the treacherous weather, designers such as OpéraSport, Rave Review, The Garment and Henrik Vibskov topped runway looks with artful felted hats, shearling designs, nylon beanies, aviator hats and fuzzy trappers, suitably equipped for the autumn/winter 2026 season. However, you can pinch this look now for the very present cold snap.

5. Clash Your Gloves

Style Notes: We've seen an uptick in all things hats, scarves and hosiery for several months, and so the next It item to undergo a style revival is the humble glove. The spring/summer 2026 shows were awash with them in bright colours, satin styles and elongated shapes, and this trend continues to ring true for autumn/winter on the streets and in the designer collections of Copenhagen. To level things up, however, the showgoers in CPH weren't going about their gauntlets gracefully. Instead, they opted for eye-popping colours and clashed them with other accessories to stunning effect.

Nicklas Skovgaard's paper-doll-like models wore pairs in kalidoscopic hues, with each model donning pop-colour, ruched leather gloves that were purposefully at odds with the pastel-toned, satin Hoff trainers. The Garment used cobalt-toned, long leather gloves in an ensemble which also featured zebra-print heeled pumps, for a striking evening look. On the cobbled streets, the sharpest of dressers picked opposing tones on the colour wheel for their gloves and corresponding accessories, favouring cool blues, teals, vibrant violets and royal purples to mix and match their accoutrements. The more clashing, the better!

6. Finish It All With a Statement Earring

Style Notes: Jewellery is always a fabulous finishing touch to a look, and can add a decadent shine to even the simplest of outfits. Good job, then, that I spotted an assortment of great earrings in Copenhagen, a city full of fine jewellery connoisseurs. Predominantly, I noticed silver as the hardware of choice, which gave an elegant, grown-up finish to both runway and street-style looks, possessing a minimalist mood. I spotted attendees adorned in tassel-drop earrings, as well as vintage-feeling square shapes, pairing exquisitely with pillbox hats and statement outerwear.

The designer collections also delivered the goods, tapping jewellery specialists to collaborate on adorning the models for their runways. Most notably, MKDT Studio worked with local jewellers Kinraden to create wearable works of art, such as molten drop earrings, single hoops and dome-like pendants, which swung singularly on the ear.

Herskind collaborated with New York-based jewellery brand Agmes on organic-shaped earrings, mariner link pieces, oversized singular hoop structures and petal-like forms, worn with silver cuffs and pendant necklaces. Take note: silver is the precious metal du jour, but keep it pared-back, simple and chic so as to not overpower it.

7. Toss Your Scarf Backwards

Style Notes: Sometimes, the most effortless of styling hacks is using something totally innocuous and wearing it in an entirely fresh way. Take the scarf. I have seen a steep rise in oversized styles, which are being thrown over shoulders backwards to resemble capes, adding serious drama points to a look.

Both on the icy streets and in the hallowed halls of showspaces, models and influencers alike wore XXL scarves over floor-skimming outerwear and jackets, not only protecting them from the elements, but adding serious swish factor. Plaid checks, fringed football scarves, shearling stoles and even sultry lengths of glossy leather were the fabrics of choice for the autumn/winter 2026 season, and what’s more, the styling options are limitless. Take any scarf, old or new, and have fun with it. Over the shoulder smoulder, optional.

There's just something about Copenhagen at this time of year. Maybe it's the snow, the waft of freshly baked cardamom pastries, the all-round hygge vibes or the historic, colourful canal-side buildings. It may also be the progressive fashion scene, full of emerging labels that are firmly placing the Danish capital on the global style map, and this year, it celebrates 20 years of hosting its twice-yearly fashion week.

Wanting to check out the latter for myself, I took a trip to the city to see what all the fuss is about. London, Paris, Milan and New York are all synonymous with the fashion month sphere, but Copenhagen is demanding a seat at the table too, and home-grown brands such as Baum und Pferdgarten, Anne Sofie Madsen, and OpéraSport are showing us why. Forgoing the pomp, polish and pretentiousness that the traditional fashion circuit can sometimes possess, the labels of CPH are far more experimental, unconventional and just plain fun. There's also a real wearability to the clothes, shoes and accessories coming off the runways here, as well as a sense of joy, craft and forward-thinking, low-impact design.

Observing the shows in person is always a true pleasure, but what I indulge in the most is digesting all the runway snaps and deciphering which key styles, pieces and trends I believe will come to the fore next season. And, my oh my, did Copenhagen deliver. Read on for my style notes on the six hottest trends I observed on the runways of CPH, along with some curated shopping picks so you can get ahead of the curve now.

1. All the Fur Trimmings

Style Notes: This tactile, decadent finish has been rising in the style stakes for some time, due to its luxe-looking appeal and the cosy warmth it brings. It has, without a doubt, dominated street-style trends, mostly in the way of coats and jackets, but for next winter, CPH designers are backing it in a much more detail-oriented and pared-back way. It is, of course, fur, and I took note of designers using it in faux and soft-shearling fabrications all over the runways for the autumn/ winter 2026 season. Yes, it was on outerwear, but most remarkably on trims and accessories, and, notably too, on attire destined for evening and after-dark rendezvous.

At Baum und Pferdgarten, plush brown fur stoles tied with black ribbon were worn off-kilter on the shoulders, adding a fuzzy finish to double denim and all-out leather looks, as well as floor-length velvet gowns. Over at OpéraSport, sultry off-the-shoulder evening tops were trimmed at the decollatage with matching black faux fur, and some outfits were topped with fur pillbox hats in corresponding tones.

At the immersive cocktail party runway of Gestuz, fur was everywhere, but most notably on scarves, capes, snoods, and even on the trims of leather pencil skirts (chic!). Studio Constance is famed for its shearling and leather pieces, so I was not surprised to see oversized collars and cuffs adorned with curly fur edging, as well as skirts and even kitten-heeled shoes. Proving its versatility, fur, and all of its fluffy iterations, showed just how expertly it pairs with denim, leather, velvet and tailoring, adding that soft, fluffy feel that we all gravitate towards, adding a wealth-whispering undertone to late-night ensembles.

2. Off-Kilter Knitwear

Style Notes: Checkered cardigans, layered polo shirts, knitted dresses, oversized V-neck sweaters, asymmetric jumpers: you name it, I saw it in Copenhagen. Some of CPH Fashion Week's most subversive brands toyed with wool and knitted garments, giving them a girlish, sporty or artful spin for A/W 26. The technicolour heroine at Paolina Russo reached for bodycon or ultra-cropped cardis with an intarsia Battenberg-cake pattern, or argyle sweater vests emblazoned with Girl Scout badges.

At the Sson presentation, fine-knit V-neck sweaters were bunched up and layered with pastel-toned polos, or worn at the waist to resemble skirts. For OpéraSport, merino ribbed cardigans followed the form of the wearer, utilising wavy hem lines and lace sectioning in the hottest shades of now (hello, chartreuse, royal purple and powder pink!).

Holzweiler, the Oslo-based brand known for down jackets, ski and snow gear, as well as knitwear, doubled down on tactile knits this season, with oversized fuzzy mohair jumpers, XXL skinny knitted scarves in pop colours, layered polos in primary hues, and, my favourite, a double chenille extravanganza, made up of not one, but two softly blurred and striped polo shirts to form an almost dress-like look, which was finished with a matching skinny scarf. Whatever you do with your knitwear next season, make sure it's weird, wonderful and a little bit off-kilter.

3. Gardening Core

Style Notes: Next season, the most discerning labels of Copenhagen are encouraging us to touch grass, or even get a little bit green-fingered. I denoted a swathe of looks which looked primed and ready for pruning prize-winning rose bushes, and with street-style maverick Jennifer Lawrence often spotted in a rubber slip-on gardening shoe for her off-duty looks, I can't help but think this trend is the new evergreen mood.

Skall Studio looked to Danish novelist Karen Blixen, inspired by both her poetry and knack for floristry, cultivating looks with real-flower corsages, knitted gloves, gum boots, heavy-duty denim, lace-trimmed prairie blouses and woven baskets for collecting cuttings. At Anne Sofie Madsen, outdoor-friendly Ugg boots and sandals were aplenty, with fringed flannel dresses resembling picnic blankets, plus heavy-duty duffle coats, shearling jackets and a recurring rose motif digging out the horticulturist in all of us.

Back at Baum und Pferdgarten, the most charming looks featured leather head scarves, apt for keeping wafts of hair at bay when busy weeding, plus a flurry of floral prints and plaid checks, ripstop two-pieces and a violet-hued barn jacket. Lastly, Aiayu drew its colour palette from the soft, organic hues found in nature, such as washed rose, undyed ecru, earthy khaki and even a rich French blue, using them across recycled silks, fine wools, and relaxed knitwear for a look which would give Monty Don a run for his money. Don't let this trend lead you down the garden path: the botanical-buff look is here to stay, and may just be perennial.

4. Tights Appeal

Style Notes: Hosiery has been having an outright renaissance lately, and this movement was solidified on the runways of Copenhagen Fashion Week for the A/W 26 season. I saw a flurry of legs cloaked in classic tights, plus knee-highs and over-the-knee stockings, all the way from demi-sheer to opaque colours, polka dots, lace and even stirrup styles.

Most interestingly, the tights and hosiery were not a second thought in these looks; moreover, they complemented or made them entirely. Take Caro Editions, where each model looked like they had taken a nose-dive into an '80s dressing-up box, and come up wearing acres of lace, bows, shoulder pads, silky body suits, and yes, tights in various shades of chocolate brown, white and black with all-over micro polka dots.

Paolina Russo's girl gang favourite footless tights, lacy leggings, pastel ankle warmers and knee-high, pattered tights, teaming them with mini, swishy and knitted skirts for a layered, tactile effect. The grown-up evening looks at Forza used block-colour tights for an expected note, with hues such as cool, icy blue and even pillar-box red tinting the legs of models in billowing gowns and skirts. Lastly, at Baum und Pferdgarten, purple-toned tights finished a similarly toned look for a head-to-toe Violet Beauregarde-approved ensemble.

5. Curtain Call

Style Notes: Here at Who What Wear UK, we have been craving all things lace, tasseled and pendant-emblazoned lately, and believe these finishing touches can take an otherwise simple outfit and make it look exceedingly expensive. Next up on our antique-feeling agenda, as verified by the most decadent of designers, is something that pulls from the world of interiors. I took note of the hottest CPH brands using curtain-like fabrics, OTT lace and ornate tapestry across dresses, skirts and outerwear, where it was gathered, tied and draped, just like the most lavish of soft home furnishings, for outfits suitable for both day and night.

At Rave Review, drop-waist skirts were the centre of attention, with granny-ish florals, fringed trims and velvety finishes. At the Taus salon show, home textiles were at the bedrock of the collection, and I spotted a handful of carpet bags, brocade corset tops, a funnel-neck, velvety two-piece and skirt-like garments made from baroque cloths. The Caro Editions finale bridal look upcycled heaps of transparent lace and silk ribbon, for a modern (and joyful!) interpretation of Miss Havisham.

Over at OpéraSport, a key look that has left an indelible mark on my mind consisted of a pair of black devoré velvet trousers and a white, pleated, cross-over poplin shirt, finished with a neutral shearling cape bordered with knotted fringing, draped over the model's shoulders, which, to me, looked like a really fab rug. Obsessed!

6. Sheer Sensations

Style Notes: Moving on from the heavy, curtain-like fabrics of the previous trend, I identified several designers and key outfits, which indulged in something much lighter, fluid and diaphanous for the A/W 26 season. Sheer fabrics, such as gossamer, silk, organza, tulle and chiffon, were layered to create dynamic looks, evening attire and unexpected combinations, all the way from the sporty to the sultry.

The standout look from Anne Sofie Madsen consisted of a lavender-toned, ghost-like gown, transparent enough to see the layers, padding and undergarments of the model, with the skirt sailing in the wind as they strutted down the runway. MKDT used white, black and burgundy organza across minimalist blouses, tops and dresses, for an undone, but thoroughly modern, effect.

Holzweiler's sheer dresses, skirts and shirts were layered playfully, and came in colour-pop hues for a breathable, light and polished look, with semi-transparent glass handbags amplifying the sheer effect. Last but not least, Paolina Russo's models wore demi-sheer sports jerseys, worn with her pastel knitwear and hosiery for a dynamic and multifaceted finish. Sheer genius!

I’m not sure if this makes me a bad fashion editor, but I’ll admit it: I often take more inspiration from the crowd gathered outside a fashion week venue than from the runway itself. And truthfully? I never feel bad about it. Street style is, after all, where the most wearable looks are spotted; it’s where we see trends in lived-in interpretations that are instantly adaptable to real life.

During last week's Copenhagen Fashion Week, the runways delivered a varied blend of Scandi minimalism and playful eccentricity, but the real magic for me was happening on the pavement. As I sifted through the hundreds of street style images post-shows, one detail kept jumping out as a unifying element threading through some of the week’s most stylish ensembles.

From zebra stripes to leopard spots, glossy snakeskin to painterly cowhide, animal-print shoes were everywhere. Heels, boots, mules and loafers; Copenhagen’s style set wore them all, and they wore them well. The city’s most fashion-forward guests trotted between shows in pairs that offered a wink of wildness to otherwise refined outfits.

Spotted in a myriad of outfits, I often saw the trend styled with relaxed denim, when animal prints add a playful pop without overpowering. Whilst leopard print might have been last year’s favourite, the scope has widened, and we're embracing the entire animal kingdom.

Animal print might feel daunting to some, but I find that it's far more approachable in shoe form than head-to-toe prints. A classic pair of zebra-print slingbacks can liven up a neutral outfit, whilst snake-effect boots bring texture to a monochrome look. Even the boldest cow-print loafers feel grounded when the colour palette sticks to blacks, browns and creams.

With autumn on the horizon, this trend has come at the perfect time, looking all the more at home with richer items like chunky knits, wide-leg trousers and big, snuggly coats.

Over the past week, my Instagram feed has been filled with cardamom buns, cobbled streets and elegant dressers whizzing around on bicycles. This means only one thing: Copenhagen Fashion Week has been happening.

Somewhat of a younger sister to the “big four” fashion weeks, Copenhagen has a notably more relaxed pace, but its influence is shouldn't be underestimated. Each season, Scandinavia’s most in-demand labels gather in the Danish capital, from established names like Baum und Pferdgarten, Cecilie Bahnsen and Rotate to growing brands with burgeoning cult followings such as The Garment and Birrot. Together, they deliver a line-up defined by energising colour, wearable cuts and a playful sensibility that feels inherently Scandi.

Off the runway, the city becomes a walking Pinterest board, with sheer lace skirts, flashes of tomato red and playful accessorising dominating the street, while on the runway, all eyes have been on what brands are dreaming up for spring/summer 2026, which has so far delivered the kind of fresh, wearable designs I can hardly wait a year for. Thankfully, I really don't have to either, as they all feel very relevant and aligned with the current fashion climate.

While there were some overarching themes seen across several of the collections—such as the quietly audacious palette of blues, plums and pinks—there were some more subtle trends woven through several collections that are destined to leave a mark from now all the way to next summer. From artful layering to woven wonders, here are the Copenhagen Fashion Week spring/summer 2026 runway trends that caught my eye.

5 Chic Trends From Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026

1. Summer Layering

Style Notes: Layering is levelling up. At Stel, intentional accents of fabric peeked out from beneath T-shirts; at Skall Studio, button-downs were doubled up for a subversive twist. Adding depth and interest without adding bulk, it's clear to see—layering belongs in your summer wardrobe as much as your winter one.

2. Textured Florals

Style Notes: This season, florals were anything but flat. Designers reimagined the print in appliqué, sequins and lace, adding dimension and tactility. Creating a fresher, more abstract, and inherently more interesting, take on the whimsical design.

Style Notes: Heritage checks and tartans stepped out of their winter comfort zone and onto the S/S 2026 runways at Munthe, Alis and Caro Editions, amongst others. Paired with sporty separates or glitzy accessories, the print shed its heavy, traditional feel, taking on a fresher, more playful mood for the season.

Style Notes: This season’s headscarves worked overtime, adding colour, texture and personality in a single move. Silk, cotton, printed or plain — the effect shifted with the fabric. Styled loose, they brought easy, beach-ready nonchalance; tied sleekly, they gave instant polish. Few accessories work harder for so little effort.

Style Notes: There’s something satisfying about a garment that wears its construction proudly. From Opera Sport’s leather woven jacket-and-skirt pairing to MKDT’s blouse with threads that looked moments from unravelling, exaggerated weave patterns added texture and craftsmanship to the SS26 line-up.

It might have been a grey and drizzly affair outside on the streets, but inside the shows, Copenhagen Fashion Week was as colourful and eclectic as ever. While NYFW is great for celeb spotting, London has the best up-and-comers and Paris is the home of haute couture, there's something about the charm of Copenhagen that has us coming back season after season to see what it will do next. It may be controversial to say, but as exciting as the runway is in any city, Copenhagen really sets the tone for the month ahead, and those in the know will start here when looking for the trends that people are really going to want to wear for the next six months and beyond.

Heading up camp "sleek minimalism" were Filippa K, Skall Studio and Gestuz, presenting everything we want to wear to work for a lifetime. On the other hand, buzzy moments from Opera Sport, Rotate, and Munthe, who created a "cool-girl" capsule of the kind of pieces that make Copenhagen street style quite so famous. So, what were the stand out trends that will shape 2025? From the dramatic furry coats that will only (re)fuel the fires of the controversial "mob wife: aesthetic, to the rich-looking colour trend that I have a feeling will be huge this autumn, keep scrolling to see the soon-to-be highly coveted looks of the season that prove that the Copenhagen runways are streets ahead.

Style Notes: And just like that, the humble shirt feels exciting again, but especially when worn with ties, track tops and oversized blazers. Good news for those of us who have the same white and blue shirts hanging in the back of our wardrobes, but even better if you're still to invest. This trend might look a million dollars, but you don't have to break the bank to get the look down to a tee. Or should I say, shirt.

The Mob Wife Fur

Style Notes: Okay, hear me out. You might recoil at the use of the phrase "mob wife", but even if you aren't about to start donning leopard print, bodycon dresses and killer heels again, you can't deny the appeal of this commanding coat. Just when we thought we'd seen the perfect coat at Rotate, up popped Opera Sport. Then pics of Munthe! Show after show made the fluffy maxi coat its hero piece, a sure sign that if three spots makes a trend, here we have ourselves an icon.

Berry Crush

Style Notes: It might be intended for autumn/winter wear, but something about this refreshing mash-up of blackcurrant, dark cherry and grape makes me want to start wearing berry tones all year round. Does it look expensive? Yes. Is it universally flattering? Undoubtedly. And the easiest thing about this trend is how to style it. The runways suggest wearing plum pieces from head-to-toe for an elegant ensemble that is sure to command attention.

Luxe Bombers

Style Notes: And now to another trend you can happily wear now, the bomber jacket may just be the bridge between winter and spring, as this easy-to-layer wonder can be cosy over knits or light when paired with dresses. Take tips from the runway and look for pieces in the cool new palette of sandy beiges, inky blues, chic khakis and rich browns. This beats a plain black jacket any day.

Here, There, Underwear

Style Notes: It just wouldn't be a complete round up without something you can wear after dark, and following in the footsteps of last year's romantic gothic, lacy camisoles and negligees are still as strong as ever when presented as confident day wear. Layered over tops, worn with trousers, or going fully bare, this sensual style can be worn for everything from date night to day trips (for the particularly self-assured). Just don't forget a demi-heel and little black bag to fully complete the look.

You'd be forgiven for thinking it doesn't have the glitz of Milan nor all the notoriety of Paris, but I find that Copenhagen Fashion Week is consistently one of my favourites for spotting chic street style looks. This stylish group of Scandi city-dwellers are well acquainted with the art of constructing a good outfit, and as such, it's one of my favourite cities to look towards for street style inspiration.

What sets Copenhagen apart is its blend of minimalism and playfulness, a balance that Scandinavian fashion has long been celebrated for. Each season, the streets of the Danish capital become a playground for fashion’s most stylish insiders, from industry veterans to emerging influencers who all have a knack for pulling together outfits that feel both directional and chic. This is why, season after season, I find myself turning to this city for fashion inspiration that feels relevant, wearable, and undeniably cool.

5 STREET STYLE TRENDS I SPOTTED AT COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK

1. SHAGGY FAUX FUR

Style Notes: While it won’t come as a surprise to fashion lovers that faux fur is trending, what has truly caught my attention is the rise of chic shaggy coats this season. Once dominated by sleek and polished faux fur pieces, the trend has evolved into something looser, bolder, and more bohemian. The shaggy styles seen on the streets of Copenhagen brought a playful energy to the trend, transforming it into something that feels fresh, effortless and fun.

Style Notes: Bundling up in style, Denmark's most stylish took a decidedly cosy approach to their street style looks this week. Shielding themselves from the chilly late winter weather, the styled set bundled up in bonnets for a cute and cosy take on high-fashion styling.

Styling their smart suits with a menswear favourite, I spotted so many fashion people complete their outfits with sleek, structured ties. Style Notes: Copenhagn's style set has always had a penchant for a playful dressing moment, so I wasn't entirely surprised to see that colourful tights have made their way into the wardrobes of stylish showgoers this season. From blue, to red, to white and more, this easy outfit addition is one of the street style set's favourites.

Marking the start of the industry's favourite season, Copenhagen Fashion Week delivered the high-fashion feast we've been craving since February. In typical Scandi fashion form, the runways served up plenty of sharp silhouettes, refined colour palettes and floaty designs, all of which had the Who What Wear UK group chat buzzing. In a sea of stylish ensembles, a few major trends floated up above the rest. Spotted across many collections, these big runway moments indicate next summer's most in-demand buys, and I've studied the shows so that you don't have to.

1. X-RAY VISION

Style Notes: Guazy dresses, see-through shirts and transparent tailoring peppered runway collections for next summer. Domino Tan layered sheer blouses over minimalistic bras whilst OpéraSPORT went without. Appearing across a spattering of collections, the transparent fashion trend nods to the slow embrace of a more daring side of styling.

2. GREEN GODDESS

Style Notes: Praising nature's beauty by way of a fresh colour trend, khaki, olive and forest-green shades were key across the Copenhagen runways. Often styled from head to toe, green permeated collections—cementing the shade as a new-season staple.

Style Notes: There's no doubt about it; the capri pants trend is here to stay. Styled in a relaxed manner across several collections, Copenhagen has asserted that if they aren't already, capris will be in your wardrobe by summer 2025.

Style Notes: Unexpectedly, leather thrived in Copenhagen's spring/summer shows. Playing with shapes, Lovechild brought us a thigh-length jacket worn sans trousers, whilst Hundred let us know that brown leather is set to be big news next year.

Style Notes: This summer has been the season of sport, and the runways have picked up on our athletic leanings, dishing up a healthy serving of sports-inspired styling. Serving as inspiration for many CPHFW designers, the sportswear trend isn't slowing down any time soon.

Although it isn't one of the big four fashion weeks, Copenhagen is certainly one of my favourites. A little more low-key than the events that follow in September, Copenhagen's energy has always been more relaxed, more playful and honestly? So much more wearable.

With brands including Sinéad O'Dwyer, Rotate and OpéraSport showcasing their latest collections on the runways, inspiration and energy buzzed through the city this week. Although the autumn season really kicks in a little later, Copehagen provides the pre-cursor, giving hints as to what is going to hit the big time in a month or so.

Copenhagen's runway shows always attract a supremely stylish crowd thanks to the many cult contemporary brands the city has cultivated over the years. And what's exiting about the aesthetic is that they do both minimalism and maximalism with equal ease, so no matter where your personal style sits on the spectrum, you'll find inspiration wherever you look. Street style photos have been streaming in all week and I've spent hours combing through them in fascination. 7 STREET STYLE TRENDS FROM COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK AUGUST 2024

1. LEOPARD LOVE

Style Notes: Leopard print has been coming through on the runways for a few seasons now and the trend is continuing to bubble up for autumn. This season the style set is layering it into their looks in a low-key way—mixing it with other prints and styling it with bold shades as a pretty addition to their outfits—rather than the main event.

Style Notes: Favouring a strong silhouette, the Danish style crowd opted for a dramatic form, selecting shoulder padded blazers to complete their looks. Some styled their blazers with matching trousers, whilst others layered them over silky dresses. Every single one of them looked chic.

Style Notes: Burgundy is set to be one of autumn's biggest colour trends and the style set are experimenting with the tone early this year. Style Notes: See through, transparent, and semi-sheer style was all over the cities streets this week. Layered over underwear or worn on top of simple slips, the mesh clothing trend is a new-season favourite that I can't ignore.

Style Notes: The headscarf accessory trend has been on the up this summer, and the fashion crowd is embracing it in all of its glory this week. From simple, monochrome colours to vivid, summery shades, this underrated trend added an elegant energy to so many street style looks.

Style Notes: Whilst I'm used to seeing this trend on sandy beaches during the summer, Copenhagen's style set are giving the trend a city-worthy look right now. From pretty dresses to elegant tops, this warm-weather trend is set to continue well into the autumn months this year.

7. LUXE LACE

Style Notes: Lace fashion is coming through as a major trend this season and stylish people have been working it into their wardrobes at pace. Light, feminine, and decidedly cool the trend felt perfectly on home on Copenhagen's chic streets.

Hosting a dinner in Copenhagen with jewellery brand Pandora, actor and model Pamela Anderson stepped out in a relaxed ensemble that I can't stop thinking about. Rather than opting for a more traditional take on event dressing by selecting a predictable maxi dress, Anderson let her laid-back approach to style lead her choice, stepping out in a white top-and-trousers co-ord instead. With an easy, undone energy, the outfit spoke to Anderson's preference for wearable silhouettes that complement her less-is-more aesthetic.

Emulating another timeless dresser, Anderson's look reminded me of a similarly chic ensemble that's been on my mind since 2018—one from fashion icon and The Row co-founder Ashley Olsen. On a night out in New York six years ago, Olsen layered her billowy top over an ankle-grazing white skirt. Though Anderson opted for trousers, the two struck a similar styling note, favouring loose-fitting white co-ords that moved fluidly and effortlessly. In fact, Anderson's outfit looks strikingly similar to separates currently available from The Row.

Both demonstrated a quieter approach to summer styling, bypassing excess colours, patterns and details in favour of truly timeless outfits that—as Olsen's original look proved—are immune to dating. "For me, it has to be Sanders—it is the only place I ever recommend. It is just the cutest place and is very close to the famous Nyhavn for a truly iconic Copenhagen moment." T.V.

"I’d say hotel Bella Grande which is new to the city for a more affordable option. It’s also very central and is the sister to Coco Hotel in Vesterbro which also has a lovely courtyard for summertime drinks." J.M.

2. What to Wear

Denmark might not reach the heights of some tropical climates, but when the weather does shift seasonally, expect warm summers and bright, fresh winters, so dressing practically is paramount (that is, unless it's fashion week). "We always swear by dressing comfortably and cool!" say Madsen and Valdimarsdottir. "As long as you feel completely comfortable and yourself in what you are wearing, that is the key for both day and night outfits."

"Don't forget an umbrella and a good jacket! The weather can be pretty unpredictable here. But also, a pair of heels for night and sneakers for the day; there’s a lot of cobblestones but walking or biking in the city is the best way to get around." J.M

"Biking is definitely the best mode of transport in Copenhagen, so get comfortable being on a bike! It is the true sign of a Copenhagener if you can bike through any weather and wear any outfit while doing it—heels and mini-skirts included!" T.V

"Copenhagen manages to be vibrant and peaceful in equal parts. It’s super chilled, laidback, and the people are so friendly, so be sure to go out and explore. We love the vibe in the Vesterbro district in particular for cute coffee shops, amazing vintage shopping and excellent restaurants—the neighbourhood is a foodie heaven." J.M

5. Where to Eat

Copenhagen is unsurprisingly known for outstanding bakeries (the Danish pastry is of course, named after the country), but you can also find plenty of street food markets, Michelin starred restaurants, and hidden gems that the locals frequent that come alive after the sun sets. "As mentioned, Vestebro has the best coffee places, vintage shops and the cutest, small, hidden cocktail bars. Italo Disco is one of our musts if you're visiting for the first time. Otherwise, we are often regulars at French style wine café Beau Marché at Ny Østergade." J.M

6. What to Eat

With smørrebrød sandwiches, hot dogs, oysters, meatballs and lots of organic produce and fresh fish, Copenhagen is a food-lovers paradise and ideal for those wanting to try a little bit of everything. But, for Madsen and Valdimarsdottir, the classics are still the best. "Danish pastries are a must and Andersen and Maillard has some of the best in the city. It’s our favourite place for breakfast and a leisurely coffee to start the day." T.V

Where to Get a Drink

Contemporary cocktail bar Ruby and speakeasy-style club Curfew come highly recommended by tourists, but Madsen and Valdimarsdottir suggest newcomer Locale 21. "Locale 21 is a new and trendy Italian restaurant in the city. It's dangerously close to the office and has great wine. The vibe is always amazing whenever we visit." J.M

What to Do and See

"If the weather is hot enough, rent a boat and explore the city from the Copenhagen canals, the views are second-to-none. Copenhagen also has the most beautiful museums in Denmark, and I can really recommend the Statens Museum for Kunst in particular, it also happens to have an amazing café to finish the day." J.M

"I’d say vintage shopping is really fun while you're here. Start at any Danish bakery in the morning, walk into central and discover the small green areas in the city, before indulging in some retail therapy for the perfect day!" T.V. And when you've finished vintage shopping, there is of course the newly opened ROTATE flagship in the bustling centre of Copenhagen. It's the most wonderful time of the year! The first of two of 2024's fashion months is but days away, and whilst it might not be part of the "official" city line-up, Copenhagen Fashion Week has set the bar for the rest of February (and some of March) very high indeed. In fact, Copenhagen is always my favourite fashion week to analyse—the designers are fun with the shows, focusing less on the grandeur of the space they're held in and more on the clothes that are presented. Our editors have already poured over the runway looks we saw last week, but now, I'm here to bring you up to speed on all the street style happenings.

There's just something about the street style we see in Copenhagen that sets itself apart from that of New York, London, Milan and Paris. Attendees seem to be more relaxed with their ensembles, though that's not to say that effort doesn't go into assembling them. I don't know these people, but there's something about how they embrace colour, how they pair things together, how they move in their clothing that seems so authentic and free. This, I think, is the mark of great street style—outfits that are truly reflective of the wearer and not just worn in the hope of getting papped. 

The street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week is always a great marker of current trends, too. There's a timely element to every look, and if you pay close attention, patterns can begin to emerge. I spent hours looking at photographs of street style looks from the five-day extravaganza and found that nine key outfit trends kept reoccurring. 9 STREET-STYLE TRENDS I KEPT SEEING AT COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK

1. SOFT YELLOW

Already shaping up to be one of the biggest colour trends of the season, Scandi women confirmed it—soft yellow is key for 2024. 

Use it as you would a beige or camel-coloured piece; swear it looks just as elegant.

2. PUDDLE JEANS

Wide-leg trousers were a common thread for Copenhagen, but the trouser trend I kept seeing over and over? Puddle jeans. 

With hemlines that deliberately hit the floor, this is a trend you'll likely want to check the forecast for the day before committing to. However, if it's dry, there's no denying puddle jeans look the cool-outfit part.

3. SOCKS AND SLINGBACKS

Much of the Copenhagen fashion crowd seemed to be over wearing boots (a sentiment I also share now that spring is on the horizon). Too cold, however, to embrace bare feet, they found a compromise. 

The amount of slingback shoe-and-socks looks I saw was staggering. A simple styling hack that can make your outfits feel more unique but also keep you safe from frostbite, I see no downside.

If there was one print that could sum up the Copenhagen street style scene this season, it would have to be pinstripes. 

Seen predominantly on tailoring, this trend taps into the wider '90s-inspired officewear trend we saw on the runways last September.

If you're looking for a surefire way to make your outfits look more elevated and current, a burgundy bag hits the spot.

So many designers have burgundy-bag offerings this season, but it's Loewe's Pebble bucket that I think will lead the charge.

6. LEOPARD PRINT

Sharing the spotlight with pinstripes, leopard print also made its mark on the Scandi style set last week, with the print cropping up on everything, from coats and trousers to shoes and bags. 

An animal print that never really goes out of style, it is, however, enjoying a peak in popularity right now due in part to the "mob wife" aesthetic, but also the sheer number of leopard-print looks we saw in the S/S '24 collections.

7. MONOCHROME DRESSING

This is a street style trend we see every season, in every fashion month city. However, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be given the appreciation it deserves here. Shoes have the power to completely change the tone of an outfit. Fashion people know this, and right now, they're relying on silver shoes to do the heavy lifting in terms of migrating their clothes from winter to spring. 

Whether worn by way of boots, flats or heels, silver shoes were seen pounding the streets of Copenhagen across the five days, cementing them as the biggest shoe trend to come out of CPHFW.

Copenhagen Fashion Week is upon us and our mood boards are once again brimming with inspiration. As the fashion set arrived in the Danish capital, a treasure trove of stylish ensembles peppered the streets. On every corner we were privy to high-fashion, wearable looks modelled by show-goers. Exemplifying true Scandi style, a stylish sea of well-tailored neutrals dominated the streets, including sweeping trench coats, head-to-toe black outfits, smart suiting and light layers. 

Below, I've have chronicled my favourite looks from the past few days. Read on to discover all the looks we'll be shopping from the street style crowd at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

1. Head-to-Toe Black

As we move towards autumn, the temptation to wrap yourself up in an all-black ensemble is at its highest, and clearly, the fashion set has already got the bug. To break up the block colours, they wore black outfits that featured deep V-necks or sleeveless styles which showed a little skin. Naturally, everything was perfectly tailored for a cohesive look the didn't feel overwhelming.

2. Relaxed Suiting

If summer '23 saw the rise of the sleeveless suit-set, autumn '23 will be all about the power suit. Riffing off the summer trend, the fashion set opted for oversized but well-tailored co-ords, which were expertly layered and styled with minimal accessories. 

3. Summer Fabrics for Autumn

Although summer is on its way out, we're still seeing lots of linen, natural cotton and raffia on the streets. Adjusting to the cooling temperatures, these natural fabrics are layered on top one another for a fresh take on trans-seasonal styling.

4. Layered Neutrals

Tonal dressing in shades including beige, tan and brown was seen up and down the streets of Copenhagen. An easy template for creating a harmonious look, tonal layering is the trans-seaonal cheat code we've been looking for.

5. Flats

Scarcely a high heel in sight, the fashion set are standing firmly on their feet in favour of all things flat footed. Though we saw a few cowboy and biker boots stomp the streets, humble ballet flats and all their associates were favourited by show-goers this year.

6. Leather Layers

As we move into autumn, we're already seeing leather reemerge as the outwear-option of choice. In the form of trenches, bombers, and moto-jackets–leather bound looks were everywhere.

7. Tailored Jackets

Copenhagen Fashion Week attendees took jacket tailoring up a peg or two, no longer only adjusting the sleeve or hem length, but moulding the garment to snuggly fit the curves of the body.

It might have been raining on the streets of Copenhagen this fashion week, but indoors, the runways were awash with colour and spectacle, and we've come to expect nothing less from the most anticipated city in the Fashion Month schedule. In the Who What Wear UK office the general consensus is that Copenhagen is the place to spot the next season-defining trends, and as Scandi women are changing our approach to cool-girl styling, who better to ask for tips on how to dress than a certified expert?

I spoke to Chief Executive Officer of Birger Christensen Collective Denise Christensen ahead of the Remain and Rotate runway shows, to get her take on Scandi vs. UK fashion, and which trends from Copenhagen Fashion Week deserve a spot in your wardrobe for the season ahead.

"Scandinavian girls have a sporty, casual simplicity around their lifestyle that can also be seen in the way they dress," notes Christensen. "Women favour wearable items and high-quality, and beautifully made pieces that will never go out of style. But the major difference between Danish and London girls is that London girls know how to dress up! This could definitely be injected into Scandinavian style, where casual is always favoured. But vice versa, as much as we can see [this] catching on, I can definitely see the easy-going, minimal aesthetic of Scandinavian style being a great addition to the London scene."

And we're inclined to agree. In fact, we've been taking notes on what Scandi women will and won't wear in a bid to streamline our wardrobes. But what is it that sets CPHFW apart from New York, London, Milan and Paris? "One thing we are incredibly passionate about at Birger Christensen Collective is the identification and championing of new design talents, and this is shared by Copenhagen Fashion Week. As opposed to the other major Fashion Weeks, Copenhagen has an amazing sense of calm and community around it, whilst not compromising on the level of design. We are lucky to show all of our brands at Copenhagen Fashion Week this season: Remain, Rotate and Cannari-Concept, and we are always blown away by the support and positivity from the attendees at CPHFW," she says. 

You only need to take a cursory look through CPHF street style pictures to be able to spot the joyful and easy Danish approach to dressing, but there are a few key pieces you can expect to see in every fashion person's closet. "It is not a secret that the Danish weather can be quite unpredictable, and so a good variety of jackets and coats is a must in any Danish woman’s wardrobe," says Christensen. "It is something that is built into almost all collections across the Birger Christensen Collective brand. Remain specialises in handmade leather outerwear and beautiful tailored jackets and coats, whilst Rotate offers fun and colourful options. So, what can we expect from S/S 24? In short, the re-emergence of a particularly versatile colour, a modern take on hyper-femininity, and one Y2K-inspired denim trend that just won't quit, according to Christensen. 1. HEAD-TO-TOE DENIM

Yes, you read that correctly. Long gone are the Britney-and-Justin connotations, and the Canadian tuxedo has undergone a fashionable makeover that Copenhagen is committing to full throttle. "Head-to-toe denim is most definitely here to stay," says Christensen. "Whilst denim has always been a wardrobe essential, when worn as a full, tonal denim look, the finished outfit is both elevated and cool."

2. EARTH TONES

After Barbie pink and hot red, it's time for a palette cleanser, and thankfully S/S 24 has just the thing in store. "Earthy tones are big this season," notes Christensen. "There has been a real moment for colour recently, but I can see natural colours coming back into favour, allowing the silhouettes and fabrics to take priority."

3. WIDE-LEG TROUSERS

We shelved our skinny jeans a long time ago, and wide-leg trousers have been a wardrobe staple for the last couple of years. But, as the old adage goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", and so designers are continuing to celebrate the supersized trouser shape, says Christensen. "Across Remain and Cannari-Concept in particular, we are showing super wide-leg trousers, from tailored pants to slouchy, cargo-style denim, and this a trend I see growing and growing in popularity."

4. THE DEFINED WAIST

Forgot frothy tulle and floral prints for next spring and summer, as 2024's take on hyper-femininity all revolves around one thing: the cinched waist. "After many seasons of drop waists, columns and low-rise fits, the tailored, ultra-cinched waist is coming back in a big way," notes Christensen. You heard it here first.

5. THE SCULPTURAL SILHOUETTE

Want a look that really stands out from the crowd? It's time to up the volume and play with proportions, suggests Christensen. "From exaggerated shoulders to asymmetric finishes (with plenty of cocoon shapes to bell sleeves), it is all about choosing something unique to create an outfit out of simple pieces this season." So before you reach for that minimalist '90s bandeau top, try a full-sleeved shirt underneath a la Rotate, or even add some wide-leg trousers to tick off two major trends at once.

Copenhagen Fashion Week has just concluded for another season, but its impact is already shaping the style agenda for 2023. Of course, the New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks are just around the corner, but there’s something about the Copenhagen scene that just keeps getting better and better. Not only were the runway collections a sight to behold, but the street style proved to be just as impressive. And that’s precisely what we’re going to analyse today.

While I always look forward to seeing what creative directors have dreamed up for the season ahead, it’s the outfits worn by the show’s attendees that provide me with inspiration straight off the bat. Though some can be out there and, admittedly, are a joy to live vicariously through, the looks I like to highlight most are the ones with a certain ease in their wearability, outfits I could copy and paste into my wardrobe without too much effort and, most importantly, will work with the majority of items I already own. After looking through hundreds upon hundreds of street style images shot during Copenhagen Fashion Week, a few key pieces began to emerge.

Although it might sound obvious since the topic of this discussion is a Scandinavian city in the winter months, outerwear was a major focus. Ticking off all the biggest coat and jacket trends of 2023, I saw everything from cropped shearling to maxi woollen weaves. Trousers took on a leading role, too, specifically those of the tailored variety. (Though, leather and cargo completed the ensemble in supporting roles.) There was also a pretty significant number of cowboy boots on display, which seems noteworthy in its own right.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a bit obsessed with Scandi style. I've travelled to Copenhagen Fashion Week five times now, and I grow more impressed with Danish talent after every single trip. Clearly, I'm not the only one, as none other than Hailey Bieber just wore one of Copenhagen's fastest-rising brands: Gestuz.

Naturally, she was able to get her hands on a fresh-off-the-runway look well before the rest of us. She wore an oversize blazer and low-rise maxi skirt from Gestuz's S/S 23 collection, which just debuted during CPHFW last month. For the show, Gestuz styled model Josephine Skriver in a bra top with a G-string peeking out from the skirt, but Bieber decided to go a bit more traditional and wear a white crop top instead. It’s been a long, long time since I last attended Copenhagen Fashion Week, and during that period, the city’s fashion landscape has changed immeasurably. When I came many moons ago, influencers were barely a twinkle in the industry’s eye, the Scandi look still centered on a darkly hued minimalism, and even Ganni was still relatively under the radar. Things have really changed, and the schedule here is now as hyped as can be. Brands that don’t even originate in Denmark now fly their teams and collections in to capture the attention of the new fashion capital’s coolest. Rixo and Rejina Pyo were just a few of the London-based brands in attendance, and it was a pleasure to see them in a different setting. The cachet of Scandi-girl approval is now firmly up there with any of the traditional fashion hubs, and the crowd here can often be credited with starting many of the fashion world’s biggest trends. Flouncy, cloud-like dresses with chunky sneaks or sandals? Crayon brights? Kooky hair clips? All Scandi and all still going strong. The aesthetic has been honed by both the designers and brands of the region as well as the people who wear them with great energy and individuality on the streets.

Rotate's finale was all about red PVC and girls who just wanna have fun.

Naturally, we have the latest street style looks for you to ogle, but this article is about the trends I witnessed emerging on the runways. Within just a few hours of being at Copenhagen Fashion Week, I found the trends that stood out as the strongest contenders. The psyches of Denmark’s designers were clearly aligned, and three shows I saw in a row all featured similar-but-different iterations of a couple of key looks and pieces. The mood? It’s Y2K and sensual, only Scandi-style. So that translates less as whimsical and ultra feminine and more as muted tones (a departure from the city’s normally super-saturated brights), gossamer-thin fabrics, unusual prints, low-slung everything, and sparkle—lots of sparkle! Stine Goya’s see-through sparkly dress and Samsøe Samsøe’s glittering trousers were instant iPhone catnip.

Of course, the Danes have a knack for taking traditionally "cute” things and flipping them on their heads. So you’ll find sweet dresses layered over matching mesh flares or a little disco bra top juxtaposed with super-baggy cargo pants. Take Ganni’s collab with Barbour as a great example—those jackets will undoubtedly be styled IRL with sassy little slip dresses.

1. Cargo Pants

From the streets to the runways, cargo pants are clearly having a moment in Copenhagen. They came in many forms, cuts and colours, proving that there is a pocketed pant for all! Wear them in a glam way with heels or simply use them as a casual alternative to jeans.

Samsøe Samsøe's girls were sporty but counterbalanced the look with heels and sunnies.

Holzweiler's full parachute-style jumpsuit provided a cool alternative.

2. Sparkle

For all the cargo pants and casual looks on offer, there was a surprising amount of sparkle available. I witnessed multiple see-through crystal-dotted dresses hit the runways, this Stine Goya being my favourite.

Saks Potts did its cool-girl take on sparkle by pairing a sequin skirt with a classic white shirt.

Samsøe Samsøe's mesh crystal leggings are going to be so popular.

3. Neutral Palette

We've become accustomed to seeing the Scandi set in super-bright colours, and while those were still present on the runways, I started to notice a softer and earthier palette breaking through.

Holzweiler's landscape-inspired hues were reminiscent of dusty deserts and looked incredibly chic.

Lovechild's column dresses in cream looked very expensive.

For all too long, the minimalistic look has felt size-exclusive—no more, friends!

4. Unusual Prints

"Once again, Copenhagen Fashion Week turned heads with their jaw-dropping shows and fashion-forward moments," fashion consultant Idalia Salsamendi told me. "One of the biggest trends I saw was mixing up and playing around with different patterns. I think it's real fun when you can take a traditional garment and really jazz it up with a fantastic new print or pattern. Brands like Stine Goya, Munthe and Gestuz really stood out for me this season for this exact reason."

Stine Goya is known for her vibrant prints, and this one felt particularly fresh for a floral.

Munthe's geometric-meets-bohemian patterns are totally different from anything else out there.

Helmstedt's whimsical doodles will have everyone asking you where your clothes are from.

5. Denim on Denim

Even though there was a heatwave, street stylers were very keen on double (or even triple) denim. It seems that designers also got the memo. Ganni's collab with Levi's is going to be super popular, but denim on denim comes in many guises as you can see below.

You heard it here first: Denim maxi skirts are making a comeback thanks to Ganni.

Baum Und Pferdgarten girls like to layer denim smocks over jeans.

Small, sparkly and sassy—that's how Rotate does denim.

6. Y2K

There was no escaping the dedication to Y2K looks that the fashion crowd in Copenhagen had. At some points, it was like living in a Britney Spears music video. Designers also took a cue from the era with low-slung waists, belly chains, layered dresses and denim miniskirts.

Jade Cropper is the new Copenhagen brand to know now, and her entire collection was very noughties.

Denim mini? Tick. Waist belt? Tick. Cardigan? Tick. This is so year 2000, and I'm not mad about it.

Chiffon dresses layered over miniskirts and bikini tops were definitely a thing back in the day—now they're back.

Copenhagen Fashion Week may not be one of the big four but season after season it proves its importance to the industry. Buzzy new labels, cult brands and of course, heaps of street-style inspiration are promised when the Nordic brands hit the runway. Over the past few years, Scandinavian style has carved out its own sartorial identity and iconic brands have become internationally appreciated—think Ganni, Saks Potts, Gestuz, Stine Goya and Remain, to name just a few.

Handily enough, our Editor-in-Chief Hannah Almassi, is currently in attendance at Copenhagen Fashion Week, and has a few observations of her own as far as the street style is concerned. "The Scandi set did not come to play! They are already jumping headfirst into AW22 looks despite the fact that there is a heatwave here. That means full trouser suits, knits, coats, boots and more have been more present than one might imagine. There's a strong impact of Y2K across the board, from cowboy boots worn with teeny tiny skirts through to low-rise trousers, baby tees, flouro colours and a whole lot of Balenciaga's Le Cagole bag."

1. BOLD SUITING

Scandinavian style may be characterised more by minimalist dressing, but their play with colour is just as impressive. This season, the street style scene took colour in their stride, and made a bold statement in full tonal tailoring.

The iconic v-front of cowboy boots makes them easy recognisable on the streets of Copenhagen. Longer versions that sit higher towards the knee give an elegant feel that compliments being paired with skirts, whilst classic ankle length boots are a versatile choice for all styling options. 

This knee-length skirt feels so fresh paired with the cowboy boots.

4. DOUBLE DENIM

Once a fashion faux-pas, the double denim combination has been turning heads for the past few years and evidently, its still a contender. For maximum impact, mix hues of denim, or go bold in a colourful denim set.

6. FULL PINK 

The impact of Valentino's entirely pink collection for Autumn/Winter 2022 was clear to see as the streets of Copenhagen were awash with every hue of pink there is. From tailoring, to slick dresses, attendees took it to the maximum with full pink looks accompanied by pink accessories to really pack a punch. 

Don't be afraid to mix shades. 

Barbour's collaboration with Ganni featured their signature wax jackets reworked with pops of fluoro pink and fun branding, proving you don't have to go for brights head-to-toe to make an impact like Simran here.

A great outfit deserves a great handbag and eagle-eyed onlookers will have noticed a trend in this season's arm-candy. The most popular styles played on vintage brand monograms, with a few newer brands embracing the logo trend as well.

7. Puma Speedcat Ballet Flats

Style Notes: No-one could ever accuse the London style set of being wallflowers, and this season they were all opting for Puma's trending Speedcat ballet flats. The ballet trainer style has been enjoying a renaissance as of late and now the look been adopted by a new wave of uber-cool, experimental dressers who are pairing the playful style with everything from classic white shirts and jeans to playful tulle dresses.

Copenhagen calls the shots. The Danish capital has established itself as the pre-eminent fashion week in terms of trendsetting prowess, street style photography and sustainability—and it's only getting stronger every season. This has positioned Copenhagen Fashion Week as a can't-miss event on the global fashion calendar not just for me personally but also for a slew of other international editors, buyers and influencers. 

One thing I love about Copenhagen is how its schedule expertly mixes little-known brands like Jade Cropper and A. Roege Hove with established labels like Ganni and Stine Goya. This gives everyone the best of both worlds: On one hand, you get the inside scoop on new brands to start wearing before everyone else catches on. On the other end of the spectrum, you can feast your eyes on highly anticipated shows from brands you already know and love. 

After I arrived back home in Los Angeles, it was difficult to narrow down the top trends from the Copenhagen collections, but I managed to sort through the cream of the crop in my roundup below. Oh, and I also did a TikTok version!

1. Baggy Jeans

Founded in 2018, Danish brand Tomorrow Denim is focused on using sustainable materials and was a finalist for this season's Zalando Sustainability Award. It's the first-ever denim brand to be certified by both the EU Ecolabel and the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. How impressive is that? 

I'm obsessed with Lovechild 1979's baggy wide-leg jeans, which were teamed with a classic cable-knit sweater. 

Arguably Copenhagen's best-known brand, Ganni did not disappoint for F/W 22. These loose-fitting jeans are bound to be a sellout come September.

This show was Jade Cropper's second collection but her first as part of the Copenhagen Fashion Week schedule. Cropper made a splash with deconstructed pieces, lots of skin and badass styling. The designer is a native of Sweden, and her show was part of the Danish capital's partnership with the Swedish Fashion Council. 

These baggy jeans from Gestuz have two details of note: cargo pockets and tied-up hemlines.

2. Skimpy Knitwear

Commit this name to memory: Jade Cropper is a rising star of Scandinavian fashion. This collection was made exclusively from waste and recycled materials. 

Another promising newcomer, Kerne.Milk's F/W 22 collection was rife with sheer tops, upcycled sweaters and on-trend baggy jeans. The brand is only three years old but already has an exciting future. 

Nobody does knitwear like A. Roege Hove. Founded in 2019, the Danish brand has already won over fashion girls with its skin-bearing, layerable knit tops, dresses and skirts. 

None other than Erin Wasson opened Saks Potts's impressive show at the Copenhagen Opera House. Supermodel status and venue aside, the clothes spoke for themselves, including this covetable barely there top in neon green.

3. Dresses Over Pants

As the reigning queen of colorful prints, Stine Goya hit a home run with her newest F/W 22 collection. This dress-over-pants look was one of the many highlights in a super-fun yet wearable show. 

Swedish brand Filippa K offered up another great idea for styling dresses over pants with this fantastic matching satin set. The brand recently announced its new creative director, Saint Laurent alum Liisa Kessler, so keep your eyes peeled for even more beautiful designs in the near future. 

I'm in love with this sporty look from Fassbender, one of three finalists for this season's Zalando Sustainability Awards. "All our products are built around cutting-edge industry technologies like 3D printed manufacturing, microbial dyeing, or technologically enhanced fabrics," the brand said in a statement. "Eliminating pesticides, chemicals, and toxins from the production process, while making use of alternative raw materials like cactus or sugar cane build the foundation of our company ethos." 

Here, Ganni offered a stellar idea for layering dresses over pants: Go for a monochrome look but add a pop of color via a simple sweater. 

The epitome of grown-up sophistication, By Malene Birger designed this impeccable version of the dress-over-pants trend for fall 2022. 

"Sustainability is about owning less by buying right,'' says The Garment co-founder Sophia Roe, who you may recognize as one of Denmark's most-followed Instagram influencers. This collection marked The Garment's very first runway show.

4. Snow Boots

Oslo-based brand Holzweiler is getting buzzier by the minute. This season, the brand's snow boots styled with miniskirts caught my eye. 

These puffy boots from Soulland were destined to go viral. How about those extra-long sleeves, too? 

These furry boots styled with a beautifully minimalist knit dress at Munthe are guaranteed to keep you warm.

5. Loose Trousers Tucked Into Knee-High Boots

Mark Kenly Domino Tan always chooses the most beautiful show venues in Copenhagen. This time was the National Gallery of Denmark. The elegant looks felt right at home among the prestigious artwork.

Ganni is always at the forefront of every trend, so you can bet they know how to perfect the trousers-tucked-into-boots look.

6. High Socks

Socks and sandals are back—that is, if Baum und Pferdgarten has anything to say about it. The cult brand's F/W 22 collection was chock-full of both tights and socks styled with open-toed sandals, and I'm in love. 

This Fassbender look reminds me of my private school days, complete with high socks, a crisp button-down shirt and a preppy cable-knit sweater.

Next, these four street style trends instantly dominated Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Nothing gets your creative energy flowing quite like a trip to Copenhagen. The Scandi city is rife with talented designers, well-dressed fashion lovers, and plenty of inspiring scenery. The fall/winter 2022 shows during Copenhagen Fashion Week definitely didn't disappoint, with local and international industry insiders descending upon Denmark wearing the coolest looks to date. Fringed leather? Check. Parachute pants? Check. 

The street style scene was a feast for the eyes and filled with lots of clever new styling ideas. There were four trends in particular that I spotted again and again during my trip to Copenhagen. Firstly, silhouettes have got much looser, with baggy jeans and boxy cargo pants reigining supreme. The weather in Copenhagen is particularly frosty at this time of year, and so it's no surprise that show goers leaned into leather for an extra layer of warmth. When it comes to accessories, it was all about the baseball cap, which looked surprisingly elegant when paired with sharp tailoring and longline coats.

Next, Hailey Bieber just wore the 2022 trend I'm replacing skinny jeans with. 

Copenhagen might not be one of the fashion weeks on the traditional fashion calendar, but it has certainly built a reputation for its innovative and agenda-setting approach to design. So many buzzy labels, fresh styling ideas and sustainability initiatives emerge from this city each season. The street style is almost as inspiring as the looks we see on the runways, as guests aren’t afraid to have fun with their outfits over in Copenhagen.

This crowd has sparked lots of the styling trends we have seen dominate over the past few years, such as oversized, colourful midi dresses paired with chunky boots and a love of vibrant prints. This fashion week is all about having fun and experimenting with personal style, which often translates into a whole lot of colour. So we always keep a very close eye on the street style looks, and after so many cancelled fashion weeks, boy, were these outfits fun to look through. After clicking through hundreds of outfits, we saw 10 trends or styling tweaks, in particular, that we spotted again and again.

1. White Shirts

Sometimes you can't beat a classic white shirt, and we love how it looks worn open over a white silk slip dress.

2. Cerulean Pieces

Copenhagen is all about bright colours, and we kept seeing cerulean this year. Miranda Priestly would be proud. 

3. Waistcoats

Waistcoats are trending right now, and we love how they look when worn with matching tailored trousers.

4. Bright Colours

Saturated colours are one of the key trends for autumn 2021, and they're already a hit with the Copenhagen crowd. The general rule is the brighter, the better.

5. White Handbags

When it comes to handbag trends, so many guests wore white leather handbags, proving they really do go with every outfit. 

6. Boxy Blazers

The item we saw the most at Copenhagen Fashion Week was oversized, boxy blazers in all colours and prints.

7. Crop Tops

Crop tops might be divisive, but the below four outfits show they can suit lots of different personal styles.

8. Silk Scarves

Several showgoers wore printed silk scarves twisted into plaits, and it looks so pretty and unique.

9. Quilting

Quilted jackets and coats are going to be popular for autumn and were popular in Copenhagen.

10. Colourful Coats

When it comes to coats, we saw trenches and leather coats in bright greens, purples and blues. If you have to wear a coat, it might as well be jolly.

I guarantee that if you asked to look in any fashion editor's wardrobe right now, you'd spot at least one Danish brand (or in my case, at least four). Over the past few years, the Scandi influence on how we get dressed cannot be understated. From older brands that have undergone a makeover to newer, Instagram-favourite designers, it's hard to ignore the impact this part of Europe has had on the fashion industry as a whole.

We often think of Scandinavian style as being homogenous and minimalistic, but that's actually not true. Whilst Swedish people might opt for a more pared-back look, over in Denmark (Copenhagen, in particular), there's a shift towards eclectic prints and colours that celebrate dopamine dressing. And there are plenty of influencers who prove this, too.

From print queen Simone Noa to Emili Sindlev, who loves to clash colours with sparkles, Scandinavians are opting for the out-there, risk-taking looks that stand out the most on Instagram, and it's this eclecticism that has shone through in the latest trending fashion labels coming out of Denmark.

Where would we be without Ganni? It's almost hard to imagine what the modern fashion landscape looked like before the brand became so ubiquitous. Dresses don't get much dreamier than those from Cecilie Bahnsen. The brand has only been going since 2015, but in the last eight years it has found a loyal following for its signature oversized stylings and romantic silhouettes. If we've got anyone to thank for the resurgence of the puff-sleeved dress, it's Cecilie herself.

Key Piece: It has to be one of the gorgeous dresses. You'll feel like a modern-day Cinderella.

3. BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN
