Whether it's makeup or hair trends, I'm always looking at the latest red carpet and street-style shots to see what my fave celebs are sporting. However, another thing I love to look at is what nail trends and nail polishes they are wearing. I write about nail trends daily, and I know more than anyone that celebs have a big influence on the biggest manicures of the season.

Possibly the most famous OPI nail polish of all time, Funny Bunny has been spotted on the hands of Hailey Bieber many times. In fact, her nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, is always sharing how to get Bieber's neutral nail looks, and she often mixes this shade with a clear top coat for a sheer finish.

Another classic, neutral shade that celebs can't get enough of. I've spotted nail artist Betina Goldstein using this polish on the likes of Whitney Peak, Gracie Abrams and more for the perfect nude manicure. There really is no denying how chic it looks.

Last but not least, another Chanel beauty worn by Margot Robbie herself! Yes, Goldstein used this gorgeous gold shade for Robbie's Met Gala look, mixing it in with the brand's top coat for a subtle finish.

If there's one person who loves to tease a new beauty product launch, it's Hailey Bieber. It feels like she has been hinting at a Rhode bronzer launch for a while now, and finally, the Rhode Pocket Bronze (£25) is here. And were they worth the wait? Absolutely.

The Formula and Shades

Following in the footsteps of the highly coveted Pocket Blush (£25), Pocket Bronze has the same buttery formula in cream bronzer form. There are eight shades to choose from, spanning across a range of skin tones from fair to deep, and the shade range feels really considered, catering to a range of different undertones, too.

The formula contains Rhode's signature peptides, as well as tamanu oil, which gives the formula a creamy slip that ensures it effortlessly melts into the skin with a satiny finish. They're easy enough to dot onto your skin and blend with your fingers, or blend out with a brush. Either way, these creamy bronzers meld with your complexion seamlessly, leaving you with a naturally sun-kissed glow. And as its name suggests, these nimble bronzers are small enough to slip into your makeup bag, making them great for top-ups as well.

My Thoughts

My first impression of the Pocket Bronze is just how easy they are to use. I live in fear of bronzers that are too heavy or patchy, but this lightweight formula has a silky, buttery consistency that just blends so effortlessly into the skin, whether worn on bare skin or buffed over a skin tint. They also pair beautifully with the new Highlight Milk (£28), a milky lumizing highlighter fluid, which I like to mix into my base before applying my bronzer on the days when I want more glow.

I'd describe the finish of these bronzers as sheer and satiny; it's not so dewy that it disappears halfway through the day, but remains easy to blend and gives a hint of glow to your complexion without glitter or sparkle (all the shades are matte, FYI). I've tried hundreds of bronzers, but I'm already willing to say this after testing it for just over a week—this is easily one of the very best I've tried, and I'm very picky about bronzers.

I tried three of the shades, including Sip (for light to light-medium skin tones), Sunbed (light to light-medium complexions) and Bake (for light-medium to medium tones). I have light skin; however, my complexion has been particularly sun-starved over summer, so most days I reached for either Sip or Sunbed, which gave me the healthy-looking glow I've been craving.

I used a fluffy makeup brush to buff the bronzer onto my cheeks, forehead, nose and a little on my eyelids too, and it instantly added warmth to my skin with minimal blending required. They also wear really well throughout the day, and although I've been carrying one in my bag, I haven't felt the need to top up as they're really long-lasting.

In case you hadn't already guessed, I'm already a big fan of the Rhode Pocket Bronze. So if you're in the market for a new bronzer this summer, you really can't go wrong with this one. Thank you, Hailey. The Pocket Bronze was definitely worth the wait.

And luckily for you, I’ve found a number of them below. There are many glittering red carpet events in a calendar year, but none captures our hearts quite like the Met Gala. On this first Monday of May, celebrities, designers, socialites, and more will descend upon the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City dressed in fashion’s finest while (mostly) adhering to the event’s theme: Costume Art, in correspondence with the museum’s spring exhibition. The Best Beauty Looks at the 2026 Met Gala

Late but extremely worth the wait, Rihanna floated onto the mossy Met Gala carpet adorned in a silver, gold, and bronze gem-encrusted gown with matching makeup and hair. The devil was in the details: Golden spirals adorned her slicked curls, and gems decorated her eyes and mimicked falling tears. The multi-hyphenate also made a case for frosted lips; her Cupid's bow glistening champagne-gold.

It's official: We're crowning Anok Yai the winner of the best Met Gala beauty competition. From her bronze statue-inspired hair and skin to her visceral dripping tears, the look is teeming with references. This one will go in the makeup history books.

Beyoncé looks every bit a sun goddess in her bejeweled headpiece, flowing curls, and skeleton-inspired gown (and every bit the proud mother at Blue Ivy's first Met). To allow her couture to steal the show, she kept her makeup simple and beautiful—but that by no means means boring. Her cool-pink blush, placed on the apples of her cheeks, adds a youthful glow while her eyes and lips are frosted with glittery shadows and glosses.

Is Doechii capable of anything less than iconic? Based on her Met Gala appearance tonight, the answer is no. The rapper paired her layered look with a stunning array of plum and shimmery mint green eye shadows to pull in her ornate jewelry and let her curls fall softly from her headpiece.

We didn't expect to see Hudson Williams on our list of the best beauty looks, but we learned a firm lesson to never underestimate the breakout star. His softly tousled hair contrasts the striking blue and red slashes of eye shadow adorning his eyes, which he confirmed was inspired by Black Swan. Bravo, Hudson!

Leave it to Sabrina Carpenter to steal the show in both the fashion and beauty categories. While her gown—a custom Dior dress made of film—was undoubtedly the star of the show, her dripping-diamonds headpiece, chic roller curls, and signature soft glam made us ooh and ahh.

Ayo Edebiri's angelic Chanel look was enough to capture our attention, but her shimmering glam (body glitter and all!) made us stay. The actress and comedian let her hair fall loosely out of its braided style to offset her frosty, ethereal glam, fashioned by celebrity makeup artist Dee Carrion using Chanel Beauty.

The picture of painterly grace, Euphoria star Hunter Schafer stole our breath with this watercolor-finish, vintage-inspired look. Her skin was kept simple and velvety to showcase the cloud of peachy-pink blush that stretches from her lips to her under-eyes and the hazy wash of denim blue on her eyelids. To finish the look, Schafer popped on a medium pink lipstick, skipped mascara, and blew her hair dry into bouncy, romantic waves.

Kylie Jenner confirmed it: Bleached brows are spring's coolest beauty trend yet. The multi-hyphenate's look, crafted by celebrity makeup artist Ariel Tejada, is kept relatively simple to show off her custom Schiaparelli gown, ornate jewels, and dyed brows. However, her Old Hollywood kiss curl–adorned hair makes a definite statement.

Joey King is the definition of cherubic thanks to her Pre-Raphaelite makeup and cascading red curls. The actress wears glowy pink blush high atop her cheeks to enhance the look's angelic innocence, and her lips are etched in a similar pink lip liner for a soft, natural pout.

We're transfixed by Ejae's crystalline look. The KPop Demon Hunters star slicked her hair into an ornate updo with delicate, crystal-embellished adornments draping over her asymmetrical knotted buns. To pull it all together, celebrity makeup artist Min Kim deepened the singer and actress's eyes with cool-toned, smoky brown shadow.

The annual affair, canonically hosted on the first Monday of May at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, is where a select few celebrities, designers and, on occasion, royals, don fashion’s finest to fundraise for the museum’s Costume Institute. There is always a theme, innumerable photographers, and a lavish red carpet filled with dazzling attendees dripping in custom couture. But as we well know, it’s the hair, makeup and nail details that bring a look to its final form.

Every year, beauty editors (myself included) pore over their screens to spy the small details that separate the good looks from the great ones. After all, it was Zendaya’s villainous glam, complete with '20s-inspired eyes, drawn-on brows, and glossed, vampy lips, that earned her 2024 Maison Margiela ensemble icon status. Doechii’s custom Louis Vuitton suit didn’t earn the headlines from her 2025 Met Gala debut—her blushed LV logo-shaped face stamp did. So when it comes to the most memorable Met Gala looks of all time, we consider how beauty helps fashion find its mark.

What to Know About the 2026 Met Gala

From the '80s to modern day, Who What Wear beauty editors surveyed decades of Met Gala beauty looks to deem the best of the best. Below, our favourites from Met Gala vets like Rihanna to newcomers like Chappell Roan.

The Best Met Gala Beauty Looks of All Time

We can't kick off the conversation around the best Met Gala beauty moments without mentioning Cher's bold eye look from 1985. In true '80s fashion, the singer accentuated her orbs with vivid violet eye shadow and rimmed her lash line with black eyeliner kohl—a look that somehow feels timeless despite the strong nostalgic nods.

"Zendaya's 2024 Met Gala makeup look has lived in my head rent-free for two calendar years," says WWW beauty editor Kaitlyn McLintock. "The theme that year was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and she went all out with a 1920s-inspired look: vinyl oxblood lips, blown-out red eye shadow and skinny brows. It was a Maleficent-meets-flapper-girl look that left my jaw on the floor."

The year was 2019, and (nearly) everyone brought their very campiest looks to those famous steps. One standout that I'm not soon to forget was Lady Gaga's art-pop eyes, complete with an ultra-graphic eyeliner moment, a hot pink lip (that perfectly matches her fuchsia Brandon Maxwell gown, BTW), and the most exaggerated metallic strip lashes I've ever seen. If all of my memories fade in old age, I'll likely still remember this look.

"Rihanna always delivers for the Met Gala, but this makeup look has lived rent-free in my mind since 2017," says WWW assistant beauty editor Sabrina Talbert. "The outfit is gorgeous, but I think the exaggerated blush really brings it all together in a dramatic way. It makes her eye pop, and I adored the way she paired it with a berry-coloured lip. And considering how far we've come with blush and how much people embrace it now, it truly feels like she was ahead of her time with this one."

Gigi Hadid is the unsung beauty chameleon of the Met Gala. Not only has the model been consistently delivering looks that make the best dressed list since 2015, but she's always changing her hair and makeup style for the big night. In 2024, however, Hadid leaned into her now-signature pinup style of hair and makeup—shaping her bob into old-school, glamorous curls and completing the look with matching red lips and cheeks.

If there’s one thing I know to be true, it’s that Lupita N’yongo knows how to nail a theme. The movie star took the 2019 Camp theme seriously with glittery eyes and brows (a trend she carried into her 2025 look), completing the look with symbolic gold hair combs placed throughout her hair.

"I love when celebs stick to the Met Gala's annual theme. I love it even more when they don't just stick to it but embrace it entirely," says McLintock. "Lily Collins is the perfect example. She attended the 2019 Met Gala with bright lilac eye shadow and a sky-high bouffant covered in flowers. The theme that year was Camp: Notes on Fashion. She nailed it."

"If there’s one thing we know about Ari, it’s that she can rock a wing like nobody’s business," says WWW senior beauty editor Jamie Schneider. "I’m obsessed with the literal interpretation of winged liner here—so ethereal. I think about those handmade 3D petals to this day!"

"I remember my jaw truly dropped when I saw Ciara walk onto the 2019 Met Gala carpet for Camp: Notes on Fashion," says WWW Beauty Director Erin Jahns. "I'm a sucker for emerald, and between the dress, the hair and the makeup, I was (and am still) absolutely gobsmacked."

Iman will forever be a fashion and beauty icon, and this jewel-toned glam from the Eighteenth-Century Woman exhibition in 1981 is a master class in winter glam. (Yes, the Met Gala used to be held in December, as it was in this photo.) Walking arm in arm with Calvin Klein, the model flashed a smile whilst showing off her peachy-pink blush and sultry, blue-black smoky eye.

"We love a commitment to the theme!" Schneider exclaims. "Amber Valletta absolutely crushed it in 2004 (the theme was Dangerous Liaisons: Fashion and Furniture in the 18th Century) with a full Marie Antoinette–inspired getup, featuring powdered curls, petal-pink cheeks and faux beauty marks."

Can I be honest? We don't talk about FKA Twigs's editorial taste in beauty enough—nor her otherworldly glam from the 2024 Met. Her inky tresses were woven into a crown-like structure atop her head, and her glam was kept moderately simple. Well, if you take into account her glowy skin and shimmery lids and not the dozens of crystals embellishing her face, neck, and half-buzzed scalp. One of the most iconic beauty looks to grace any red carpet, IMO.

"If Zendaya channelled Maleficent [at the 2024 Met Gala], then Elle Fanning channelled Sleeping Beauty (a titular role she has experience playing)," muses McLintock. "With true glass skin and a crystallised Balmain gown to match, she looked like an ice fairy walking up the Met's iconic staircase."

Euphoria alum and past WWW cover star Barbie Ferreira took the term "flapper girl" and ran with it. The actress's ultra-glamorous '20s-inspired look keeps up with her intricately beaded dress thanks to a set of violet-shaded eyes, fluttery lashes, drawn-on brows and ringlet curls—pulled together by a single strand of pearls dangling from her middle part.

The 2025 Met Gala may have been rapper Doechii's first, but this LV-emblazoned look ensured that it won't be her last. The self-described "Swamp Princess" stopped us dead in our tracks with her raised LV beauty mark, bringing special-effects makeup into the Met Gala world in a way we didn't know we needed. (It also sends a simple message: She is fashion.)

"I mean, come ON," Jahns exclaims. "I've maintained for years that Emily Ratajkowski might not actually be human (and I mean that in the absolute best way possible), but this Cher-inspired look designed by Peter Dundas sent me over the edge. I love a retro beat to a look, and the '70s feel here is absolute perfection."

"This was easily one of my favourite looks from the 2024 Met Gala," says Talbert. "The pixie cut was elegant, and her eye makeup, which had an icy undertone, perfectly paired with her Swarovski catsuit (made up of 98,000 blue and purple crystals). It had the perfect amount of shimmer, down to the iridescent highlighter she was wearing."

I mean it—Hadid is a glam go-getter at the Met Gala. Take, for instance, this '60s-inspired look that the model and business owner donned at the 2021 event, complete with flowing mahogany tresses and vivid pastel blue eye shadow. Sure, Hadid's custom Prada gown was eye-catching, but the transformational beauty is what made this look a showstopper.

Who could forget Bleachella? Taylor Swift's last Met Gala attendance in 2016—where she also co-chaired the event—made waves thanks to her bleach-blonde, shaggy hairstyle and ultra-dark lips. It was possibly one of the biggest indicators of her upcoming Reputation era; we just didn't know it at the time.

Rihanna again, because we can't discount this gloriously frosty look at the 2023 Met. The multi-hyphenate paired cherry-red lips with icy matte eye shadow, a nod to the man of the hour's signature palette (the theme was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty), plus a pair of eyelash-adorned sunglasses—not shown here, but very worth mentioning.

"As if the custom Ralph Lauren column dress (covered in 36,000 black and silver crystals!) weren't enough, Janelle Monáe really sealed the deal with that perfect red lip," says McLintock. "Obviously, as a research-obsessed beauty editor, I have the ID: Armani Beauty Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in 201 (£38)

"I still remember the way my jaw fell to the floor when I saw Tyla descend on that 2024 carpet," says Schneider. "A bronzy, sun-kissed glow is already the singer’s signature, but she turned it up to the max with shimmery highlighter, cinnamon lip and tonnes of body gloss. And that dusting of sand on her shoulders? Perfection!"

"This was Emma Chamberlain's first Met, and she really delivered with her makeup," says Talbert. "I thought the neon green eyeliner paired with a smoky olive green–gold base and bold lashes created an effortlessly dramatic look. Something about it felt very Twiggy-inspired, and it complemented her dress perfectly."

If there's one celebrity I want to go on a night out with, it's Margot Robbie. No, I've never actually met her, but she seems so fun, and my delusional brain thinks we'd be best friends immediately. Plus, during pre-drinks when we're all getting ready, I'd love to have a nosey through her makeup bag. As someone who prefers a "no makeup" makeup look, with a glowy base and lots of cream blush, it's safe to say that Robbie is my beauty muse. For most people, committing to something as bold as a pixie cut can feel like a major decision, but I'm here to tell you from personal experience, it's a low-maintenance dream. Currently, I have curly shoulder-length hair, but I had my first experience with pixie cuts when I was just six years old after my mother insisted I get a big chop before my first day of school.

How to Pick the Right Pixie Cut for Each Face Shape

Anyone can pull off a long pixie cut, but getting a style that works for your face shape specifically is the key to making it work. Here's a quick rundown from our experts:

Oval: Both hairstylists agree that this face shape can pull off any cut, but if you have curls, Ashley suggests trying a curly fringe with tapered sides.

Round: For straight hair, Santiago notes that round faces can opt for height and volume to elongate their face shape. Ashley notes that those with curls can do particularly well with deep side parts.

Square: "Square looks best with soft texture and movement to break up the jawline," says Santiago. For curls, try a rounder cut that can be swept to the side, per Ashley.

Diamond: "Heart shapes benefit from a longer fringe and a little weight near the jaw, so it's more bob meets pixie," says Santiago.

Heart: "For a heart-shaped face, consider a fuller curly bang and slightly longer pixie," says Ashley. "This will soften the narrow chin."

Rectangle: Both experts agree that rectangular faces can add more width than height to visually shorten the face. "Avoid a short pixie, go for a more mid-length," says Ashley.

How to Style a Long Pixie Cut

Recreating the look you get at the salon can feel like an uphill battle, but this look is so low-maintenance, it's actually easier than you think. It all comes down to, you guessed it, the products. "Texturisers give grit, so the hair doesn’t fall flat," says Santiago. "I love adding a bit of pomade, like shaping fiber from Philip B."

If you have curly hair, your options might look a bit different since you have to consider things like curl pattern and shrinkage. For fine curls, Ashley recommends a lightweight mousse or foam. Thicker curls will need a curl cream and a light gel. And for flyaways, apply a leave-in to soaking wet hair before drying.

1. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
Lizzy Jagger: Fragrance, for sure.

Georgia May Jagger: I feel like putting on fragrance is the last thing you do when you’re going on a night out, to make you feel like you’ve finished your hair, makeup and dress.

2. If you could steal someone else’s makeup bag, whose would it be?
GMJ: I feel like I would steal Emily Wood’s makeup bag, because I bet she has so many fun glitters and colours. I would just like to have a look at it.

LJ: I quite fancy seeing Val Garland’s [makeup bag]. I think stealing a makeup artist's makeup bag would be the most rewarding!

3. You’ve got a spot. Are you team pop it or team leave it alone?
GMJ: I think we’re both team pop it.

LJ: I’m heavily team pop it. I’ll pop it for anyone!

4. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life—what is it? GMJ: Moisturiser or lip balm.

LJ: The May Botanicals Super Balm.

5. What’s the best piece of beauty advice that you have ever taken from one another?
GMJ: I feel like Lizzy is very good at giving herself an amazing facial before a modelling job. She instilled that in me.

LJ: Georgia’s got me further into masks by making her own out of kelp. I feel like a mermaid every time I take one off. You’re just glowing.

6. What's your signature fragrance?
LJ: Jo Malone London English Pear & Sweet Pea is my signature fragrance. I like a light fragrance in the day that I can then layer with something a bit deeper, like rose.

GMJ: Mine is Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia. I love that it’s very fresh and smells like spring.

7. Strong lip or a strong eye?
GMJ: A strong lip. I think we’re both on the strong lip. It’s just easier. We were talking a lot about how we do our makeup in the car, so it’s easier to do it on the go.

8. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
LJ: Either jungle red or emerald green.

GMJ: At the moment, I’ve been going for very sheer glitter nails, sort of early 2000s. I want anything sparkly and iridescent.

9. What's your beauty philosophy in a sentence?
GMJ: I feel like it’s about not taking yourself too seriously on the outside and not trying to compare yourself to others. I feel like we live in a real comparison culture. Try to embrace the individual things that you like about yourself.

LJ: With makeup, especially at night, more is more!

10. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
LJ: Shimmery bronzer for me. Too much iridescence on the skin.

GMJ: I struggle with eye shadow with no mascara. I know it’s trendy at the moment…

LJ: I agree with that one!

11. Candles, reed diffusers or nothing at all?
Both: Candles, for sure.

GMJ: I love the Jo Malone London Red Roses candle.

LJ: And the English Pear & Freesia candle.

12. Name one beauty product that is always in your handbag
GMJ: In my handbag, the May Botanicals Super Balm, for sure. Just because it’s multipurpose.

LJ: And me too!

GMJ: Also, I usually have a concealer as well. The Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer [Stick].

LJ: I always have a Charlotte Tilbury mascara in my handbag.

13. The greatest drugstore product for under £10?
GMJ: Bleach London Hair Elixir for split ends—it’s the best.

LJ: For both of us! I’m using like a quarter of a bottle a week!

GMJ: The No7 under-eye concealer pen from Boots is really good as well.

14. Describe your brows in one word
GMJ: I was going to say "undecided" because I’m always bleaching them or wanting them dark!

15. Your worst hairstyle (or hair moment) ever…
LJ: A wispy fringe when I was pre-teen. A wispy fringe on someone who has naturally curly hair is really high-maintenance.

GMJ: I like a lot of mine. I’m sure not everyone will agree with me because I’ve had a purple mullet [at one point]!

16. Makeup primer: love it or hate it?
LJ: I just got into it. I’m experimenting more with 40-plus makeup primer, like the line filler, the pore filler…

GMJ: I have never used makeup primer on myself. I am aware it’s a thing, and I’m sure that’s why when people do my makeup, it looks better, but I have got very into setting spray, which I’ve never used before.

17. Confession time: how often do you clean your makeup brushes?
LJ: Once every three months, and I know that’s not enough, but that’s about as [often] as I can remember.

GMJ: I’m quite guilty for not really using brushes and using my hands more, unless it’s eye shadow. In which case, rarely!

18. Which celebrity’s hair would you love to steal?
GMJ: I would say my mum, but I wish I could pull off a Drew Barrymore in the '90s, short bleached crop.

LJ: Oooh, me too! I wish I could do a little Linda Evangelista short hairdo, but I’m happy with my own hair.

19. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
GMJ: I quite like the '90s, where it’s like grunge, goth beauty, but it’s also glam as well.

LJ: I quite liked it in the '90s when it was the bare-skin look that took you an hour and a half. But I’m really inspired by the '20s, '30s and '70s (even though they’re quite inspired by the '20s and the '30s). That ethereal, glowing look that’s not afraid of a bright eye shadow.

20. Best beauty hack?
GMJ: I feel like there are so many. Using a hair dryer to warm your eyelash curlers is a thing I’ve seen.

LJ: And I’ll do that after I put my mascara on!

GMJ: I’ve never been able to do liquid eyeliner as well as our mum, but she does a thing where she puts her whole head on the side, and draws like that, and every time I see it, I’m like, I just don’t understand how you’re doing that, and it works!

LJ: One last hack. Beetroot juice instead of blusher. And rubbing chilli on your lips makes them bigger.

21. What do you do in your downtime to relax and reset?
GMJ: Spending time with my son and walking my dogs.

LJ: We love going to spas and getting massages. And we both really like a nice long bath.

If there's one celebrity we all flock to for beauty inspiration on the Who What Wear UK beauty desk, I think we can collectively agree it's Sienna Miller. We all want to know Sienna Miller's beauty secrets, from how she gets her effortlessly tousled hair to the perfume she wears; whatever she's using, I want in on it too. So, when I heard that Sienna Miller uses a certain serum that's also beloved by dermatologists, skin experts and beauty editors alike, I was curious to know what it was.

It's well-known that Sienna Miller is already a huge fan of Skinceuticals' cult vitamin C serum, C E Ferulic. However, it turns out that she has recently added a newer SkinCeuticals product into her routine. This certain peptide serum has even been touted as a "Botox alternative" by targeting fine lines and plumping the skin for a glass-like effect. The product in question? SkinCeuticals Ptiox (£135).

SkinCeutical describes this peptide serum as a "wrinkle-modulating serum", which works to plump out the dynamic expression lines we have on our skin, from crow's feet to nasolabial (or laughter) lines. It essentially works by reducing contraction lines to improve your complexion's overall skin texture and radiance, and allowing you to target even those areas that you cannot directly treat with Botox.

In fact, SkinCeuticals' clinical trial showed a reduction in nine different kinds of wrinkles in 12 weeks, showing an improvement in skin texture and radiance, too. The brand also recommends that P-Tiox can even be used to complement injectable treatments such as Botox, helping to boost the effects alongside your treatments.

It would be remiss of me not to mention that this is an expensive serum and most definitely a luxury skincare investment. However, having just finished my second bottle of P-Tiox, I can absolutely vouch for its results, and I've also had several skincare experts sing its praises to me, too. This is one skincare brand that you can trust.

I've not had any Botox for six months, and where I'd normally see the fine lines creep back around my eyes, they're softer and far less noticeable than they were pre-treatment. Whilst I wouldn't say it's a Botox replacement, I do love the plumping effects, and should I get Botox in the near future, I'll definitely be using Ptiox to prolong the results for as long as possible.

The serum is also lightweight and sinks in fast, so it's great for all skin types and easy to slot into both your AM and PM skincare routine and layer underneath other products. I've been pairing it with the C E Ferulic serum, and honestly, my skin has never looked so glassy. And now that it's Sienna Miller-approved, I'm topping up on a third bottle.

Here at Who What Wear, we've been busy covering the very best Oscars red carpet looks from the 98th Academy Awards. From standout fashion to monochromatic makeup (yes, I'm talking about Chase Infiniti's lilac eyeshadow moment), you're probably all clued up on the biggest looks of the night, but have you ever found yourself wondering what perfume your favourite celebs might be wearing when they step onto the red carpet? Well, I think I've just figured it out.

If you tuned into the awards, you'll know that Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her role as Agnes Shakespeare in Hamnet. Her custom Chanel dress and bold red lip certainly stole the show, but her hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, actually shared an insight into the luxury fragrance (or should we say, hair perfume) she wore on the night, and it just so happens to be every beauty editor's favourite scent.

On Instagram, Scarlett shared a snap of Jessie on the red carpet, next to a picture of the Initio Parfums Privés Musk Therapy Hair Mist, seemingly confirming that this was her go-to scent for the evening.

At £87, this expensive-smelling fragrance has been recommended to me by pretty much every editor I know, and since getting my hands on the scent, it's become a staple in my perfume collection. Although it's a hair mist, I like to spray it all over, but you can purchase the matching perfume if you prefer to layer your fragrance.

It opens with fresh notes of bergamot, mandarin and white magnolia, before a heart of white musk takes centre stage. I'd describe it as a skin-like scent, with a clean, soapy aroma. However, this fresh laundry appeal is elevated by notes of sandalwood and pink musk, resulting in a captivating, heady fragrance that certainly feels fitting for such a prestigious event.

It's the sort of perfume that whispers wealth and cocoons the senses like silk being draped across your shoulders. I can totally see why Buckley chose it for her winning night.

Last night, the stars were out in full to celebrate the 98th Academy Awards, and the Oscars red carpet was nothing short of spectacular. From show-stopping fashion looks to monochromatic makeup and gothic waves galore, there were many trends to note, but one makeup look in particular kept me up all night, desperate to share it with everyone I know.

As a makeup artist and beauty editor, I've written extensively about choosing the right eye shadow for your eye colour. Recently, I shared my favourite brown eye shadows for blue eyes, as they never fail to make them stand out. However, on last night's red carpet, Chase Infiniti wore an unexpected eye shadow colour that made her hazel eyes pop like never before.

Matching her makeup to her custom Louis Vuitton dress, the One Battle After Another actress wore lilac eye shadow as she stepped out on the red carpet, and there's no denying that this was the perfect colour to take her makeup look to the next level.

Paired with glowing skin and a simple glossy lip, the purple hue enhanced her features beautifully, and I think we can all agree that the colour complemented her hazel eyes in all the right ways.

The great thing about this look is that it's not that complicated, either. As you can see, Infiniti's makeup artist, Amber D (@amberdmakeup), focused on the inner corner of the eye (another trick to make your eye makeup pop), while also blending the purple shade all over the lid for a subtle wash of colour. She used a Louis Vuitton eye shadow for the look, from the brand's 450 Cosmic Dreams Eyeshadow Palette (£190).

When it comes to award-show glamour, I drink up every detail of the looks that make our best dressed lists. Though every event plays host to a showstopping assortment of red carpet ensembles, from the stunning gowns to the trendsetting hairstyles, the stars save their best for the Oscars, and the 2026 show is shaping up to have some of the best beauty looks I've seen in a minute.

Don't get me wrong. I love a classic updo and perfectly manicured hands. However, the one thing that sets my soul on fire is red carpet makeup—so much so that I asked my fellow beauty editors to fan-cast our favorite nominees' makeup looks for the evening. The one thing we didn't see coming was the monochrome-makeup trend that suddenly yet swiftly took center stage, and I'm simply itching to re-create these looks myself. Below, see the matchy-matchy lip and eye moments from Jessie Buckley, Emma Stone, Renate Reinsve, and more that played oh so perfectly with their Oscar-worthy gowns.

Not to toot my own horn, but I did predict Buckley's red-lip look. The Best Actress nominee matched her scarlet lips to her two-toned Chanel gown, making this look an instant classic. I theorize that the vermillion accents could be a sweet nod to her character Agnes Shakespeare's signature red frock, but that's just me.

Wunmi Mosaku's deep-sea turquoise gown caught my eye immediately, but her shimmering shadow made me stay. The Sinners star matched her sparkling custom Louis Vuitton gown with a pop of reflective teal eye shadow on the inner corners of her eyes, which happens to be one of 2026's top red carpet trends, according to our senior beauty editor Jamie Schneider's robust reporting. If you want to replicate her exact look, pick up Louis Vuitton's La Beauté LV Ombres Eyeshadow Palette in Beige Memento and Force of Nature.

According to Chase Infiniti's makeup artist, Amber Dreadon, the actress's custom Louis Vuitton dress was the ultimate source of inspiration. Dreadon describes the look as "whimsical, light, and effortlessly youthful," according to a press release, and kept skin and subtle pops of color at the center. She used the LV Ombres Eyeshadow Palette in Cosmic Dreams to craft Infiniti's soft lilac eye before accenting her pillowy pout with the LV Rouge Satin Lipstick in Kiss the Sky.

Do my eyes deceive me, or did Emma Stone match her shimmering, floor-sweeping Louis Vuitton gown with a frosted eye? According to a press release, the star's gown was hand-embroidered—which, by my logic, requires a makeup look with the same painstaking detail. The Bugonia star wears the LV Ombres Eyeshadow Palette in Beige Memento, which features an icy ivory shadow that I'd bet my next paycheck she slathered all over the eye.

Sinners' Li Jun Li has been taking the 2026 award season by storm with her extravagant red carpet looks, though I'm particularly entranced by her matching red moment tonight. Perhaps inspired by the fiery aesthetic of her heavily nominated film, the actress tied in her red Gaurav Gupta dress with cherry-colored glam, including bright-red lips and berry-hued blush.

Renate Reinsve has been dominating award season in the style category, but my eyes were on her red lip (and sculptural hip-high slit) tonight. Perfectly matching her custom Louis Vuitton gown is her matte LV lipstick in orange-red Vuittamine, which I'm adding to my cart as we speak.

1. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
I think hair colour really does change your mood, and having vibrant, fresh colour definitely gives me a boost, so I would say Schwarzkopf Creme Supreme.

2. If you could steal someone else’s makeup bag, whose would it be?
Probably Charlotte Tilbury's!

3. You’ve got a spot. Are you team pop it or team leave it alone?
Oh, I would love to be team leave it alone, but sadly, I never quite made it to that side of the fence! I would pop it.

4. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life—what is it? It’s going to have to be lip balm, because could you imagine needing it and not having it? I think the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is iconic and just always works.

5. What’s the best piece of beauty advice that you have ever received?
Genuinely, sleep and water. It’s so boring and annoying, but I now have to drink so much more water than I ever thought I needed, and as you get older, that’s increasingly more important. Hydration is the key.

6. What's your signature fragrance?
I swap between a few. There’s a Chloé fragrance that I love, Le Labo Thé Noir 29 and then there’s a little aromatherapy oil called E11even, which I got sent a while ago. It’s an aromatherapy stick that you roll on, and it’s gorgeous.

7. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
A natural, beige nude [colour]. I’ve tried to experiment with other colours. I think it just suits me better to be a natural, nude girl.

8. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
I think filler is not a good idea for anyone.

9. Name one beauty product that is always in your handbag
A freckle pen. I love adding [faux] freckles in winter. There's the Charlotte Tilbury Foxy Brown Lip Cheat, a lip liner that I use for freckles, and that’s great.

10. The greatest drugstore product for under £10?
The Dr. PawPaw lip balm is a great one.

11. Describe your brows in one word.
Sad! Extinct! No, I used to have quite big brows, and they’ve just slightly withered away. They are also very unruly; they are fine here and curling on in themselves here, and it’s a battle.

12. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
I love the '60s. I think that everybody looked great. And the '30s were dreamy and romantic. If I had to, I’d say those two.

13. Confession time: how often do you clean your makeup brushes?
I can’t even remember ever doing it! That’s terrible, isn't it? I’ve got one that gets so covered in foundation that it goes really orange, but I’ll just use the soap by the sink. I don’t have a brush cleaner.

14. What beauty rule do you always break?
I would love to be more consistent with SPF. I know you’re supposed to do it in winter, but if it’s grey and cold, I just can't. It doesn’t connect that I would still need an SPF even though 800,000 people have told me to wear it.

15. Which celebrity’s hair would you love to steal?
I'm kind of obsessed with Pamela Anderson in the '90s. That kind of really brassy blonde. That was good hair.

16. Candles, reed diffusers or nothing at all?
Candles. I love the Diptyque Baies candle, and Buly, the French brand. [They are] the most beautiful candles.

17. Best beauty hack?
My entire approach to beauty has been shaped by the fact that I’ve worked with amazing people, and I kind of know where to put things on my face that change it in the right way. Although I feel like this generation knows everything, I don’t think I can teach. My 13-year-old is like, "Mum, please." She knows more than I do; you guys are way ahead of me.

Carolyn Bessette Kennedy was known to wear a very simple Egyptian musk oil (which she picked up from a street vendor in NYC) called Abdul Kareem Egyptian Musk Oil. It's out of production now, and very, very hard to come by. However, what's less well-known is that her close friend, fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez (who also designed her wedding dress), actually created a scent inspired by CBK herself. As it turns out, Narciso Rodriguez For Her (£54) was actually created for her.

If you're not familiar with the iconic Narciso Rodriguez For Her fragrance, allow me to introduce you to it. It's a musk scent that launched in 2003. It's long been one of my favourite perfumes ever (it was the first "grown-up" perfume I bought), but knowing it was inspired by CBK has only deepened my appreciation for this timeless and elegant perfume.

It's a minimalist perfume and truly a pioneering skin scent of its time, long before it became a whole fragrance category itself. Musk takes centre stage in the eau de toilette (the eau de parfum, housed in a pink bottle, arrived later and has a noticeably different scent profile). Blended with creamy orange blossom and osmanthus, grounded by earthy vetiver and patchouli, it unfolds as woody and musky with a soft floral edge, gently sweetened by warm amber and smooth vanilla. I’ll admit, the opening spritz on a blotter can be misleading—this isn’t where the real enchantment lies. It’s in the hours that follow, as the fragrance settles and begins to glow from the skin, that it turns utterly hypnotic and irresistibly addictive as it becomes one with your skin chemistry.

When I put this on, I instantly feel wrapped up yet refined—it's like swaddling yourself in the plushest, most luxurious cashmere. There’s a gentle muskiness that reminds me of burying your nose into the jumper of someone you adore. It’s warm and subtly sensual, but never loses its elegance or timeless appeal. It’s the kind of scent you can wear absolutely anywhere; it's polished enough for the office, yet perfectly suited to an evening out. There’s also a soft, woody undertone that feels grounding and quietly calming.

It lasts beautifully on the skin, especially for an eau de toilette, and I catch delicate traces of it throughout the day. A small spritz is more than enough with no need to reapply throughout the day. In fact, I often prefer it hours later, once it has settled and unfolded into its deeper notes. It lingers wonderfully on knitwear too, clinging to a polo neck or scarf and creating a comforting halo of musk and woods.

What I love most, though, is how seamlessly it melts into the skin. It wears slightly differently on everyone, becoming beautifully personal and uniquely yours. It never overpowers; instead, it simply makes your skin smell naturally captivating, as though that soft allure is entirely your own. I own the 100ml bottle, and it has lasted me for several years, so there’s no need to worry about it disappearing too quickly. Just be prepared for people nearby to comment—not on the fragrance itself, but on how incredible you smell.

Narciso Rodriguez has since launched multiple variations of the scent (most notably, Narciso Rodriguez Rose Noir, which went TikTok-viral a few years ago after a French woman shared it as her signature scent), but to me, you really can't go wrong with the original For Her.

Last night, London hosted one of the most anticipated nights in film. The 2026 BAFTAs were held at the iconic Royal Festival Hall. Although most eyes are probably on the iconic red carpet fashion moments that dominated last night, as a beauty writer, my eyes were set solely on the makeup, hair and nail looks that I want to recreate for myself. And after spending all morning scrolling through the best BAFTA 2026 beauty moments, my thoughts are set firmly on one in particular—Ellie Bamber’s sheer makeup look, courtesy of Armani Beauty.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m somewhat of a makeup minimalist, so it should come as no surprise that this sheer, glowy full-face caught my eye. Between the soft, smokey eye, healthy glow of the cheeks and the glossy nude lip, Ellie’s makeup look is one I’m sure every clean girl is set to try this season. Not to mention that it falls directly into the "Dew 2.0" look that’s set to be one of 2026’s biggest makeup trends.

The Inspiration

"Ellie’s beautiful dress was the inspiration behind the makeup, echoing the sheerness of the fabric through matte texture on the lid and super-fresh, glowing skin. Ellie has the most perfect pale complexion, so we keep it cool on the eyes using sheer browns and greys over the lid, and lots of mascara. Cheeks felt flushed and youthful, whilst the lips were a very considered nude," says Taylor.

The Application

1. Apply blush high on the cheeks for a flushed look.
2. Apply the deeper eye tint next to the lash and the lighter shade over the lid, buffing into the lid and lash line to create depth. Layer the colours like an oil painting.
3. Apply gloss onto the centre of the lipstick to create a fuller pout.
4. I love to apply the luminous silk finish with a regular foundation brush and then use a fluffy brush to blend it into the skin seamlessly.
5. I find the foundation is so skin-like, which I love for a red-carpet finish.

With a new season on the horizon, now is a great time to consider a new look. And what better way to get some inspo than taking a look at the upcoming spring hair trends for 2026? I don't know about you, but I'm so ready to bid farewell to winter and look forward to new hair trends as we welcome the longer and warmer days ahead. So, in the spirit of spring's new beginnings, I've been inspired to try something new with my hair this season, and I'm considering a new hair colour and haircut to refresh my look.

Having spoken to some of London's top hairstylists and hair colourists, there is a definite shift in spring's hair trends this year. There are fresh haircut silhouettes and nostalgic Y2K hair colours returning once again. Much like the shift we're seeing in fashion, hair trends are shaking off their stuffy "quiet luxury" aesthetics and instead returning to more joyful shapes and colours again. If you've been craving a transformation, now is the time to head to the salon.

If you're in need of some inspo to take to the salon, then scroll on for the spring hair trends London's top hair experts predict will be big news this season.

1. Baby Bangs

If you've been considering a fringe, take this as your sign. Fringes are a timeless haircut addition, but for spring, we can expect to see baby bangs come to the fore. "Shorter, soft fringes will be a major trend for spring, like a face-framing baby bangs where the fringe sits just above the eyebrows but increases in length towards the outside, creating something super soft—think '90s Pamela Anderson as the inspiration and Alix Earle more recently," says Caspar Finch, stylist at Hershesons Fitzrovia. "The shape is usually achieved with either a razor or scissors depending on the chosen inspiration," he says.

2. Soft Bixie

The bixie cut, a hybrid between a pixie cut and bob haircut, is becoming far softer for spring. "The ‘bixie’ is a combination of a soft pixie cut and a short-textured bob, combining two shapes to create the bixie. For spring, this will still be a major trend," says Finch. "Look to Gracie Abrams for inspiration at the Chanel Couture show. The focus will be on softer, textured, lived-in finishes for the season ahead, enhanced by a styling cream such as the Hershesons Almost Everything Cream (£20)," he says.

"Make sure to show references to your stylist and ask them to create the shape around your features and facial proportions to best enhance your face shape and hair texture," adds Finch.

3. The Shag

The shag has been quietly making a comeback in recent months, and Izzy Warren, stylist at Hershesons Fitzrovia, tips it to be a defining haircut trend for spring 2026, and it's particularly great for those with curly hair textures.

"Less is definitely more at the moment, so if you’ve got a natural curl or wave, then it’s time to embrace your texture with the curly shag this season," she says. "It’s effortless yet sexy, especially when you have a few pieces of the bangs covering the eyes a little, with curls or waves falling around the face. Miley Cyrus has been seen wearing a longer version of this cut recently. For a more classic shag haircut, look to Suki Waterhouse or Pamela Anderson for inspiration," says Warren.

"Ask your stylist for added layers to make the curls and waves come to life more. A texture mist like the Hershesons Air Dry Spray (£22) will also really bring this cut to life by enhancing your hair’s natural texture as it dries, as well as a Hershesons Sock Diffuser (£30)," she says.

4. Hair Accessories

From The Row's SS26 show hair with its artfully placed French combs to the awards season red carpet beauty moments, it's impossible to ignore the rise in hair accessories right now. "For Spring/Summer 26, I’m predicting we’ll be seeing hair jewels; think metal hair pins and hair bands with metal embellishment," says Warren. "It instantly elevates a simple look like a ponytail or bun, or a cool, undone French twist enhanced with a metal hairpin. It feels a little vintage but super feminine, like Zoë Kravitz at the Golden Globes," she adds.

5. Chunky Bobs

We can't talk about spring hair trends for 2026 without talking about bob hair trends. And after a season of sleeker bobs, we can expect voluminous bobs to return with a bang for spring. "For Spring/Summer 2026, the bob will be looking a lot more full and choppy, holding a lot more weight overall for a chunkier, modern look," says Silver Mestre, stylist at Hershesons Fitzrovia. "What’s great about this look is that it can be worn in lots of different ways. It looks great blown out for a classic, polished look, or looks super cool and effortless when air-dried to enhance the hair’s natural texture," he says.

6. '00s Dirty Blonde

As for hair colour trends for spring, we can expect to see more "dirty blonde" hues being requested in salons, giving a nod to the Y2K hair colours we saw on the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller in the early 2000s, says Nicole Kahlani, concept colourist at Hershesons Fitzrovia. It's one of the beauty trends making a comeback this year.

"I developed a technique called 3D scalp bleach, so that my clients, even those with dark brown hair, can achieve that super cool early-2000s Kate Moss or Sienna Miller 'dirty blonde', which will be highly requested for spring," she says.

"To achieve this, I utilise the traditional scalp bleach, then incorporate my 3D toning technique. I start by lightening the hair, then add a dark blonde root to add depth, and incorporate the balayage lowlighting technique, creating a seamless blend of the colours and beautiful dimension," she says. "This approach not only makes scalp bleach look incredibly natural but also yields a gorgeous blonde, even on darker bases."

7. Powdered Blonde

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we can also expect to see pearly, powdery blondes for spring 2026. "Powdered blonde is a colour influenced by 18th-century hair, as seen on Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights," says Kahlani. "The look is chalky and dense, with less dimension. Blondes appear more one-toned, with a matte finish rather than a hyper-shiny look. Think dense golds with an ashy, antique effect," she says. "These are more natural blonde tones, reflecting a time when hair couldn't be coloured artificially. Even today, with colour melting, a seamless blend, the key is a global, natural-looking matte finish."

This month, we sat down with Daisy Edgar-Jones. The 27-year-old actress has just been announced as Estée Lauder's newest global brand ambassador, and we were lucky enough to catch up with her about the new venture. "It’s truly like a dream come true," she tells us. "I’ve loved Estée Lauder as a brand for a very long time. [It] really [feels] like such a symbol of timeless beauty, so to be a part of that legacy feels very, very special and actually incredibly surreal. It was the makeup and skincare I grew up loving and watched my mum put on, so it feels amazing to be part of the brand."

Below, we ask Daisy all about her go-to makeup products, her best beauty advice and even her signature scent...

1. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
I would probably reach for the Estée Lauder Pure Color Melt-On Glosstick, because they [give] a real pop of colour and add a lot of vibrancy to the day. They are instant fun.

2. Could you talk us through your skincare routine?
I’m very religious with my skincare routine; it’s very important to me. [In the morning], I usually wash my face with just water, and then I always use Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum, because it’s really hydrating and moisturising. It [also] smells incredible.

3. You’ve got a spot. Are you team pop it or team leave it alone?
I wish I were team leave it alone! I know [I] should be! But I find it very challenging not to pop. As I’m entering my late 20s, I’m getting a little better at [being] team leave it alone.

4. Which of the characters you’ve played do you think would have the best beauty routine, and why?
I just played a character called Cate in a movie called A Place in Hell, which will be coming out this year, and she [is] a very high-powered lawyer who always has a blowdry and her nails done. She 100% has a very meticulous ritual to her mornings, and I think she would probably have the most impressive beauty routine. She always wears beautiful eye shadow and lashes, and everything is perfectly put together.

5. What are your top tips for keeping your fringe looking so good?
Oh my gosh, it’s a challenge! I would say get really, really good at learning how to blow-dry it. That’s something I’ve trained myself to do. And you need to find the person who’s going to give you the best fringe trim, because it all starts with the cut.

6. What’s the best piece of beauty advice that you have ever received?
If you have oily skin, you should moisturise. I think I always thought that if you have oily skin, you should wash it and strip your skin of oils, but actually, the more moisture you apply, the less [oil] your skin produces to deal with the dryness.

7. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life—what is it?
I think it would probably be Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I think it’s such a great, reliable product that you know isn't going to budge throughout the day. It has that kind of mattifying effect, but it is very lightweight and easy to apply.

8. Do you have a signature fragrance?
I don’t. I like to mix it up. But I love fragrances that have a real zesty-ness to them, and something that wakes me up and feels very vibrant.

9. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
I quite like a sheer nude. It feels like it goes with everything. Sometimes, if I’m feeling experimental, I’ll go for a nice rich brown or a burgundy, but most of the time it’s a sheer nude.

10. What's your favourite lipstick colour?
I gravitate towards lighter, sheer pinks; there’s an Estée Lauder Pure Color Melt-On Glosstick in Melted Melon. It’s one of my favourites. It’s like a really sheer pink; it can look like your natural lips, but it’s got a little bit of something.

11. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
Filling in my eyebrows just doesn't suit me. My eyebrows are where most of my acting work comes from. I’ve got very expressive eyebrows!

12. Candles, reed diffusers or nothing at all?
Everything! I love candles, I love diffusers… I was recently given these little ceramic balls that you put in a bowl, and you spray them. That’s amazing, and it really lasts. All things candles and smells! There’s a hotel in Los Angeles called The Edition, and it has a collaboration with Le Labo. They have a signature scent just for this hotel. I stayed there once and fell in love with it. I bought every candle they had.

13. Are you team dewy or matte?
I’m team matte, just because I often leave the house for a very long time and don’t have time to come back and apply [my makeup], and I love that a matte [finish] is something that you know is going to stay. I often find that if I go too dewy, my skin drinks up all the makeup. But I like a matte that feels lightweight and wearable, and still looks like your skin, but a little more elevated.

14. What's the greatest drugstore product for under £10?
I would say cotton buds. Just because I'm often quite messy [with makeup], and I feel like whenever I forget my cotton buds, it's such a key part of my makeup routine.

15. Describe your brows in one word
Expressive!

16. Makeup primer: love it or hate it?
I feel like if you have a good enough skincare routine in the morning, you don’t need it. I don’t use it; I feel like I concentrate more on my skincare routine.

17. Confession time: how often do you clean your makeup brushes?
I’m ashamed to say that for a while, it would be, like, once every six months, but now I’m getting a lot better.

18. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
I’ve always very much gravitated towards '60s makeup and hair. I love how bold they were with colour, but also, for me, one of the products I can’t live without is mascara, and I love the kind of chunky mascara of that time; it was so distinctive.

19. Eyelash curlers: love them or hate them?
Love them.

20. Best beauty hack?
I would say the thing that I’ve found so useful is over-lining my lips. It’s something a lot of makeup artists do, but with very nude colours or "shadow" tones, so it’s more about contouring to give the effect of a slightly fuller lip, but it kind of disappears into your skin.

21. What do you do in your downtime to relax and reset?
I’m a massive fan of journaling. I journal all the time. My favourite thing to do at the start of every year is set up my [new] journal, decide on a theme for the year and set myself little goals and challenges.

I have a box filled with cards from all my loved ones over the years, along with old photos and memorabilia from special places.

What would we always find lurking in the bottom of your handbag?

The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and a Vyrao Mini Perfume.

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?

Stilton cheese and salted, thinly sliced tomatoes on a water biscuit.

Who are the people who fill up your cup? 

Nothing quite fills the cup like my female friendships

If you could only holiday in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?

Barbados. I grew up going there on holiday, I met my partner there on New Year's Eve, and we’ve brought our kids there every year since, so it’s really special.

  Do you have an item of jewellery that holds a lot of meaning?

I have my mum's mum's wedding ring, which is really simple but really special, as I never met her.

 In your spare time, what do you love to do?

I love reading at the moment and, of course, long baths.

 Do you have a secret date-night spot in Yorkshire?

It has to be the Brasserie at Saltmoore, start off with drinks in the Lounge bar, playing a board game with wine, then the yummiest food of all time!



  The one spot you take out-of-towners when you want to impress them?

I always take people to pubs local to us, not necessarily impressive, but I love places that are rustic, modest, and have impressive food. There’s a gorgeous spot called The Trooper in Aldbury that has very good food, and it’s near where we live.

It’s a sunny Sunday in Whitby and you haven’t got any plans… How do you fill your day? 

I don’t think you can beat Sandsend beach. There is the best sandwich shop of all time called Mary’s, so I would grab sandwiches, walk on the beach, and take a dip! 



What’s your favourite dish in a restaurant you always go back to?


I have to say, at Saltmoore we have light bites to die for—cod cheek bites and cheese croquettes, which I’m still dreaming about. I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Your favourite place to walk in Yorkshire?

Has to be the North York moors, it’s absolutely breathtaking, and so different to any other horizon you’ve ever seen.

Which item of clothing would you never ever part with? And why?

I live in Chelsea Peers pyjamas and Skims tracksuits. I hate being uncomfortable, so you’ll rarely catch me in jeans they’re a form of torture. 



What’s your most-played on Spotify? An artist, playlist or album?

Olivia Dean, Ella Langley and Raye.


If we were to look in your saved folder on IG now, what would we find?

Lots of recipes for my children. I feel like I cook them the loveliest home-cooked meals because I’ve developed into a bit of a crunchy mum… 


Favourite city for inspiration? 

Los Angeles. I always come away from there feeling like anything is possible and meet the most interesting people.

Favourite item to pack when you go on a staycation?

Share a piece of advice that someone you love gave you that always stuck

My partner always tells me when I’m being a bit overambitious or risky with something, “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”, so that has always stuck with me, although not sure if I do a good job of taking it onboard!

What’s your favourite scent? 

I love the original Chloe scent, but also their Cedrus version is to die for.

Do you collect anything, if so, what?

I have started getting things from countries that we visit, whether it be a beautiful shell from the beach, or something handmade by somebody from that country. I just like the idea of little things from all over the world in our home that remind us of the memories.

What’s your latest obsession?

I am getting quite obsessed with avoiding UPFs and how to optimise my and my family’s health. It’s harder than you’d think, unfortunately.

I love red wine. Either a Châteauneuf-du-Pape or The Guv'nor.

Michelle Obama, without a doubt, is so incredibly smart, charismatic, funny, but also so disciplined and no-nonsense.

Who is your personal hero? 

My mum, who was a single mum, worked full-time, and I just have no idea how she did it with little to no support. She is very successful and has also given me such an amazing life.

We've made it through to the middle of January, and the nail trends are very much what you'd expect of winter nail colours at this time of the year. Maroon nails, rich brown manicures and dark nail colours are reigning supreme right now. However, Kendall Jenner just debuted her first January manicure, and it's the most unexpected nail shade she could've gone for in the depths of winter.

On my morning scroll through my feeds, I came across a photo of Kendall Jenner, posted by her nail tech Zola Ganzorigt. At first glance, this looks like a regular sheer pink manicure. But on closer inspection, it's actually a creamy apricot gloss hue. And I'm obsessed.

The one celebrity I can't get enough of right now? Dakota Johnson. From her impeccable style to her witty sense of humour (not to mention her cool-girl bangs), I'm taking all my inspiration from her as we head into 2026. As a beauty editor, I've also been researching her skincare routine and go-to makeup brands.

If you're also a fan of Dakota, then you'll know that she tends to favour a glowing base, opting for a soft, smokey eye alongside a nude, pink lip. Her makeup is basically everything I want to embody before heading out of the house. It looks effortless and chic, and perfectly enhances her features.

I'll be honest, when doing my research, I realised that Johnson is somewhat of a closed book. It was tricky to track down her most-used products, so instead, I turned to her long-standing makeup artist, Georgie Eisdell, and looked into the products she turns to when prepping Dakota to walk the red carpet—from bronzers and blushers to foundations and lip oils. We were lucky enough to catch up with her about the new venture. "I’m so honoured to be a part of it," she tells us. "Being alongside Anya and Jisoo was amazing. Both of them are such strong, artistic women. When all three of us get into the room, and we can talk and laugh and enjoy each other’s company. Those are my favourite memories."

1. What’s the best piece of beauty advice that you've ever received?
I would have to say, treat your body like a temple. My mum has definitely instilled that within me.

2. If you could steal someone else’s makeup bag, whose would it be?
I would probably steal FKA Twigs' makeup bag.

3. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life—what is it? A really, really great moisturiser. Honestly, good old shea butter.

4. So many musicians have doubled up as beauty icons over the years. Is there anyone that you take inspiration from?
I would say Grace Jones and FKA Twigs for pure individuality and uniqueness.

5. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
I love the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil. The Black Cherry one is amazing. One of my guilty pleasures is just how soft the applicator is.

6. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
I must take my makeup off before bed. I rarely forget to take my makeup off. That’s a big one for me.

7. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
Probably a darker shade.

8. What's your signature fragrance?
There’s a raspberry fragrance in this campaign [Dior Addict Purple Glow], which is really amazing.

9. Best makeup hack?
I really wish I were better at doing my own makeup, but I leave that to the professionals. If your friend knows how to do makeup, get them to do yours!

10. Are you team dewy or matte?
Dewy, most definitely.

11. What do you do in your downtime to relax and reset?
I love reading, I love listening to podcasts and spending time with my animals.

I love a good seasonal manicure. Rich espresso brown nails for autumn? Check. OPI's iconic Funny Bunny Nail Lacquer to mirror the winter snow? Obviously. But what about the in-between period when autumn nail trends seem like old news, but you don't want to commit to your winter nail shades yet? That, my friends, is when you need a good transitional manicure that will tide you over. And this year, I'm following Dua Lipa's lead.

While I was recently scrolling through the singer's IG, I spotted one of her signature cool-girl manicures, and it immediately struck me as the perfect fall-to-winter look. In the photo, she's holding fiancé Callum Turner's face as he kisses her cheek. (I, along with the rest of the internet, love their love.) Her nails are a deep crimson red—each one surrounded by a ring of white. This halo manicure, as I'm calling it, instantly became my number one November nail inspo.

Her nails might look plain old red here, but wait until you see the close-up.

Here's the close-up. It's a simple nail design, but in my opinion, simple nail designs are also the chicest. It appears as if her nail artist started with a base of crimson red before hand-painting a white line around the perimeter of each nail.

I love the berry-crimson colour of her nails, which feels on-trend for the season. And maybe it's because winter is coming and I have snow on my mind, but the white halo effect adds a nice, wintry touch. While this simple design can most definitely be re-created at a nail salon, I also think it could be done in a DIY fashion (for those who are intrepid enough!). The 20-year-old actress became a global ambassador for luxury French beauty brand, Lancôme, at the end of 2024, and we were lucky enough to catch up with the star earlier this year, to ask her all about her go-to makeup products, her best beauty advice, and even her most-worn perfume…

1. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
A good fragrance is key to boosting [my] mood. At the moment, I’m really loving Ô Zenith from the Lancôme Les Ô collection, because it’s always a quick way [to make] me feel more confident.

2. If you could steal someone else’s makeup bag, whose would it be?
It’s a tricky one because, in terms of makeup, I’m constantly finding new people whom I’m inspired by. In this moment, I’d have to give it to Celia Burton, who did my makeup a lot for press recently. She’d always whip out these random new products that I became obsessed with.

3. You’ve got a spot. Are you team pop it or team leave it alone?
I’m technically team leave it alone, but I’m a terrible player for the team.

4. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life. What is it? Lancôme’s Lip Idôle Squalane-12 Butterglow. I will talk about this magical product until the end of time. Any shade. Any time. It has the loveliest sheen and finish. I’m yet to meet someone who hasn’t immediately fallen in love with [this product].

5. It’s a bad hair day. What do you do?
I’d like to give some productive advice, but the real answer is to cry out of frustration.

6. Strong lip or a strong eye?
Strong both. But not at the same time. Or maybe at the same time, if you feel confident with that. I personally think I start to look quite Gollum-y quite quickly if I don’t pull it back.

7. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
Nude. Boring but consistent. Or red. The choice is very impacted by the season.

8. What's your favourite lipstick colour?
I think it really depends on what other makeup you have going on. I tend to go for a mauve brownish tone, but I also love a pinker nude to play into the natural shade of my lips.

9. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
You don’t need to drown yourself in black eyeliner the second you become a teenager. This isn’t a no-go for everyone; some people absolutely rock it. This is targeted to my younger self specifically. From my recollection of things, as soon as I turned 13, the eyeliner pencil was out, and I looked very similar to a raccoon. You don’t need it! Give yourself time to see what works for you; don’t immediately start trying to hide behind something. It took me a while to get out of that one.

10. Candles, reed diffusers or nothing at all?
I’m a very big candle person. I love smells and scents, and I also really love the [warmth] candles leave in a room. I think candlelight is one of my favourite kinds of light.

11. If you could share one piece of beauty advice, what would it be?
Less really is more.

12. What beauty product do you recommend to everyone?
I recommend Lancôme mascara to everyone, to the point where it’s probably quite annoying. Not one mascara in particular, I think it can be dependent on your lash type and what style you think looks best on you. My current favourite is the Lash Idôle Flutter Extension Mascara, but I was married to the Hypnôse Mascara for a while. I feel like a bit of a cheater.

13. Name one beauty product that is always in your handbag.
Lip balm. Never without lip balm. Lip liner is a pretty close second

14. Describe your brows in one word.
Trying their best. Not one word, but I think that sums them up quite well.

15. The greatest drugstore product for under £10?
I think tweezers are essential. Not just in regards to beauty, they’re honestly more of a tool than anything else.

16. Are you team dewy or matte?
I’m team dewy! But that’s partially because my skin type is more so on the oily side, so I don’t know if I’m dewy by nature or nurture, but I’m here nonetheless.

17. Makeup primer: love it or hate it?
I think if you have a good moisturiser or skin prep routine, then it’s essentially the same thing. Is that a controversial opinion?

18. Confession time–how often do you clean your makeup brushes?
I actually pride myself on the fact that I clean my makeup brushes somewhat regularly. Nowhere near as often as I should, but cleaning is cleaning. Maybe once, twice a month? Now that I say that, I feel like that’s actually not a lot at all.

19. What beauty rule do you always break?
Not picking spots. Those small ultra-close mirrors in hotels have become my enemy.

20. Would you rather have ultra-skinny brows or bleached brows?
Bleached? I’m not too sure either of them would suit me very much.

21. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
The classic old Hollywood look always winds up on my mood boards somehow. [There's just] something so gorgeous and enticing about that time.

22. Eyelash curlers: love them or hate them?
I can’t use them! When I was younger, I was on FaceTime with my friend, and her sister came in arguing about a stolen top, and my friend, while curling her lashes, whipped her head around to yell at her sister. In the aggression of the moment, she pulled too hard on the curler and all her eyelashes came out. I’ve been scarred ever since, so curling eyelashes is a no-go for me.

While most people get excited to see their engagement rings, as a beauty editor, my eyes are firmly on their engagement nails. And Elsa Hosk's are among the chicest I've ever seen yet.

We often see Elsa wearing a sheer, milky manicure or a sheer pink hue, and her engagement nails are no exception. The neutral hue, paired with long almond-shaped nails, is a classic combination. Not only does it make for a timeless engagement manicure, but it's also an eternally chic nail colour that transcends seasons and nail trends. And if you are anticipating someone popping the question, or you're a bride-to-be looking for wedding manicure inspo, then this is a manicure that you certainly won't regret when showing off your ring.

What Nail Colour Is Elsa Hosk Wearing?

While we don't officially know what nail colour Elsa Hosk is wearing (I've been keeping a close eye on her usual go-to nail tech, @jenny.jennys). However, having studied sheer manicures and spoken to celebrity nail techs—as well as trying out milky manicures myself—I have a hunch that Elsa may be wearing two very iconic OPI nail colours.

I'm taking an informed guess that Elsa's manicure is a combination of the iconic Funny Bunny, layered with Baby, Take A Vow on top. Elsa's engagement nails have a sheerness to them, which both of these colours provide, and Funny Bunny creates a milky white base, while Baby, Take A Vow adds a touch of cool-toned pink that almost leans slightly lilac.

I put my theory to the test below, applying two thin coats of Funny Bunny, and two thin coats of the aptly named Baby, Take A Vow on top—it's the perfect bridal pink. And I have to say, this might be a very close match if you want to replicate this look on your own nails. I used OPI's nail polishes for my manicure, but you can also request these two shades in the salon if you want gel nails. That being said, if you want a gel nails alternative, then I swear by Essie's Gel Couture Top Coat, a nail polish top coat that applies and looks like gel, but keeps my nail polish chip-free for between 7 and 10 days.

I think a lip [product] is pretty insane, because your mouth is where people’s attention is drawn to first, [so] the shade of your lip is very important.

2. Do you have a favourite lip product?
Right now, I really like the Rouge Dior On Stage Ultra Longwear Lipstick in Redwood Star.

3. If you could steal someone else’s makeup bag, whose would it be?
Oh my god… would it be really basic to say Kate Moss? How does she do it? I don’t know.

4. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life—what is it? That’s, like… brutal. Again, I feel like I have to say [a lip product], as you can cheat and use it for blush as well.

5. What’s the best piece of beauty advice you've ever received?
I don’t know if I received this; it was more a natural progression of taking in [makeup] looks that I liked, or even [looking at] people that I admired, but it's letting the skin shine through. I don’t like anything too heavy, and I was made to feel really embarrassed about my freckles growing up. I think that too much makeup looks really insane on me; I just don’t have a face that suits that, so I think enhancing certain features or emboldening the stronger parts of my face is instrumental to me feeling like myself when I go out.

6. What's your signature fragrance?
I actually just changed it, which is very scary. I don’t know how it’s going so far, but for a really long time, it was Santal 33 by Le Labo.

7. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
I don’t think I have a no-no; I have more of a "that should have been a no-no." But I will never admit it in the moment.

8. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
Honestly, if I'm going to do something, I really like a nude. Just a nude pink is really nice. But, if I do feel like I want something, I like a deep, dark wine colour. And then of course, black. But I would never put black [nail polish] on the toes."

9. How do you use beauty to help get into the character you're playing?
Beauty is the way that you’re choosing to represent yourself. It’s a pretty important piece of the puzzle. Often with characters, it’s one of my favourite parts of the job, speaking with the hair and makeup artist and establishing what the look is going to be, because it’s the character getting herself ready every day. It’s very interesting and insightful to know what is important to them and what they want to be seen as, so often, when I get ready for these characters, I play around with the makeup myself, and then we go from there, just so I have the experience of putting it on and figuring out what’s natural to me.

But it also kind of naturally lends itself, sometimes, if you don’t know who the character is fully, and you try something on, they’ll tell you what they want or they don’t want. For example, [when playing] Wednesday Addams, it was very clear when something wasn’t pale enough or dark enough or grey enough; it’s very intuitive. When the makeup is wrong, it’s hard to do a scene because you feel silly.

10. Which of the characters you’ve played do you think would have the best beauty routine, and why?
It depends on who you’re into. I played this character, Cairo Sweet, who was a touch pretentious but also had really beautiful taste, because she was super wealthy and lived in this mansion, and I just know she would have an assortment of things. But then, if you’re super clean and want to take really good care of yourself, I just did this film called The Gallerist, and [I played] this character who had a perfect blowout and matching eyeliner to her hair [colour], and everything was very curated. I feel like she would have a really nice collection as well, or at least [beauty] tips.

11. It’s a bad hair day. What do you do?
I think you hide. A bad hair day really messes you up. Maybe wash your hair again, or I guess, if I have to go out, I’m wearing a hat. I don’t like the way my hair looks slicked back. I need messy bits and pieces, and if it’s not going to listen, then you will not hear from me.

12. Which celebrity’s hair would you love to steal?
I worked with Amy Adams on a job a year or two ago, and [she had] the most beautiful head of hair I’ve ever seen in my whole life. I could not believe it. I thought, well, of course you played a princess. Her hair is so thick and healthy and [has this] beautiful texture and natural highlights. What a woman.

13. Are you team dewy or matte?
I feel like maybe matte, but only because it feels a little bit safer for my skin. I have combination skin, so naturally my T-zone gets a bit more oily, and whilst I think that's a nice, healthy look, I just don’t think it would work well with my skin in the long run.

14. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
I would say I like the more timeless bits, so I feel like the sixties. If you’re not [reading] too much into [the] crazy eyeliner, a lot of the style was very minimalistic and clean. The nineties were like a slight regurgitation of that, but maybe with a bit more depth or grunge, so I really like those two periods. When I [do] my own makeup, I often look to those characters and people as a reference.

15. Best beauty hack?
I don't know if this really counts… I will say two things just in case the one I want to say doesn’t count. I don’t wear foundation, but when I’m doing my concealer or cream contour, I like to do it when my skin is still wet from the [skincare] product before, because it blends a bit better and it feels a bit less caked on; it’s less obvious. But also, when I do mascara, spoolies are scary, so I empty the spoolie, I scrape it off, and I feel like it reduces clumps. As soon as I get a clump, it’s ruined. I like messy mascara, but you can’t fight a clump; they just keep reappearing!

This month, we sat down with Cindy Bruna. The 30-year-old French supermodel has been a global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris since 2020, and we recently caught up with the star during the Cannes Film Festival to ask her all about her go-to makeup products, her best beauty advice and even her secret eyebrow pencil hack…

1. How does your beauty routine support your self-worth?
I feel like having a beauty routine in the first place is a self-care moment. Taking time for yourself, choosing yourself for a moment, [is] very connected to your confidence and how you actually go out into the world.

2. Which makeup product gives you the biggest mood boost?
The L'Oréal Paris Panorama Mascara is amazing. Sometimes, I go out with nothing on apart from that mascara. For me, it’s everything. Maybe some lip balm and that’s it.

3. If you could steal someone else’s makeup bag, whose would it be?
To be honest, mine is pretty good.

4. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life—what is it?
Oooh, that’s a hard one. I think I would choose hydration for my lips. That’s [the product that] I carry in my bag all the time. A little gloss, or the Plump Ambition Hyaluron Lip Oil from L'Oréal Paris, is very good. It’s very hydrating and at the same time, you have that glow, that little something that you need on your lips. It’s a good way to have both.

5. What’s the best piece of beauty advice that you have ever received?
I think it would be to double cleanse at nighttime. Doing it twice is very important. And, pretty recently, I switched my pillowcase for a silk one for my hair and my face, and it's magical.

6. What's your beauty philosophy in a sentence?
I feel like confidence is the most beautiful makeup you can wear. When you’re walking down the street and you see a woman walking with confidence, she just has an aura that you can’t even explain. You don’t even pay attention to whatever she’s wearing, whatever makeup she has; it's the feeling from within that she brings out to the world, it's everything she needs.

7. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
Wearing your makeup to bed is the worst. That would be a no-no for sure.

8. Name one beauty product that is always in your handbag
A lip balm. I said it earlier, but yeah. A lip balm or lip gloss.

9. The greatest drugstore product for under £10?
Oh, the Burt's Bees lip balm is very good! The one with honey and peppermint. Don’t go for the others, it’s very specific!

10. What is your best beauty hack?
I use my eyebrow pencil on my lips to contour them. That’s something I do a lot. I love a little brown contour, a little darker than my skin tone, just to plump my lips. I would use the exact same colour on my eyebrows, too.

11. Do you have a favourite eyebrow pencil to use for this trick?
Not really, no. I would use powder, but I have a scar on my eyebrow, and this trick can only work with a pen.

1. Which beauty product gives you the biggest mood boost?
I would say the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint. That's the last step of my skincare routine and makes me feel a little bit more even as an acne-prone girl.

2. You've got a spot. Are you team pop it or team leave it alone?
I pick at my face, which is one of the reasons I'm so grateful to work with a brand that makes the greatest complexion products. I know in my heart I shouldn't touch my face. I'm trying to grow up!

3. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life. What is it?
For me, it's blusher. It makes me feel awake. Whether I'm onstage or offstage, it has that same effect.

4. What's the best piece of beauty advice you have ever received?
Less is more. I think that's just generally true for me. I like to feel as in my skin as possible. [Also] remembering that everybody's face is shaped differently. There's not a one-size-fits-all in terms of how you go about applying [makeup]. With the ridiculous amount of content that exists out there, it's important to remember to listen to your body.

5. Are you team dewy or matte?
Dewy. I don't mind looking sweaty sometimes. That doesn't bother me, so I would say dewy.

6. You're having your nails done. What's your go-to colour?
These days, silver. I had silver on my nails recently, and I liked that, but I rarely ever have anything because of the guitar. That's my boring answer!

7. What's your beauty philosophy in a sentence?
Just do what makes you feel like yourself. I've had experiences where there's been [lots of] glam, and I'm like, "Who is that person?" I always appreciate when things feel as bare as possible.

8. What's your favourite lipstick colour?
The Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm. I love this product because lipstick in general can feel chalky, and I'm a big texture freak. This is just so hydrating and amazing. The shade Impulse is like a brick red and makes me feel like I'm awake and alive.

9. What's your biggest beauty no-no?
I'm not a huge powder person. I don't like being so matte, so I would say that. I'm kind of like, "Do whatever makes you feel good." That's the whole point of leaning into products—getting you feeling closer to yourself.

10. Name one beauty product that is always in your handbag.
The mini Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer. It's like a third of the size of the big one. If I pick up a coat and put my hand in the pocket, I will find two of them in there and in my bag or backpack. That and a good brow gel are my two staples.

11. What's your signature fragrance?
Another 13 by Le Labo.

12. What's the greatest drugstore product for under £10?
Aquaphor. It's my favourite. I have used it since before I can remember.

13. Describe your brows in one word.
Quite straight these days. I've never had anyone touch them, and I wish I had because sometimes it's like you black out when you touch your eyebrows, and then you come to, and I'm like, "Where did the tails go?" But I'm just going to let it rock for now.

14. Your worst hairstyle (or hair moment) ever…
Ugh, there was a time in high school when I cut my hair really awful, and I also recently saw pictures of when I had really long hair, but I wasn't taking care of it, and the ends were so gnarly. [My bob] feels good to me now; anything other than this at the moment doesn't feel right.

15. Makeup primer: Love it or hate it?
I love it for the stage. I think it's super useful. I know in the back of my mind that I've gone the extra step to try to keep [my makeup] from sliding off. However, I think the way that I like to apply my makeup is quite sparse, so I don't lean in for a primer all the time.

16. Confession time—how often do you clean your makeup brushes?
I don't clean them as much as I should. I use my fingers for so much, and I wash my hands all the time, especially being on tour. I am hand-sanitising every five seconds! I use the same big [makeup brush] for everything, so I don't think I'm a great example of what to do in that department.

17. Which celebrity's hair would you love to steal?
I was so jealous watching Charli XCX [at Glastonbury] because she's just got the best hair. It's so hot and wild and fierce, and it's so black, and there's just something so attractive about that. It makes me miss having something to whip around.

18. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
Oh my god, sometimes it would be a time that predates any product at all. I love bare faces so much. I think I appreciate what's happening right now. There's access to so much. We're all so inspired by the beauty that we are lucky enough to absorb, but also, [there are] people who opt out entirely, and I think that's equally exciting and gorgeous.

19. Best beauty hack?
This is a Katie Jane Hughes classic: priming your blush with your complexion products so that you're not applying so much directly on your skin. It makes you feel like you are using 80% less product, which is great for getting as much out of your product and using it for as long as you can but also not having it be so cakey.

20. What do you do in your downtime to relax and reset?
I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible, which I think is a direct result of being in a bus or a dark venue most of the time. I miss the sun. Long walks, long days in the park and trying to get in the sea whenever possible.

"This one’s a personal favourite for summer—blush-heavy, sun-drenched skin that looks like you’ve spent the weekend on a yacht (even if you haven’t!)," says celebrity makeup artist, Dalila Bone. "It’s all about layering pinks, corals and bronzers high on the cheeks, temples and even across the nose. It’s trending because people want warmth and youth in their complexion and this delivers both."

2. Barely-There Bases

As the temperatures soar, no one wants to be wearing a heavy foundation, which is why skin tints and tinted SPFs have become more popular than ever to deliver a hint of coverage without feeling sticky. "Summer’s true beauty MVP must be tinted SPF," says celebrity makeup artist, Jacinta Spencer. "Merging skincare with sheer coverage, it evens out skin tone, gives a natural glow, and protects your skin from sun damage. It’s the 'no-makeup' makeup essential that keeps you fresh, flawless and photo-ready from poolside to golden hour."

3. Gilded Eyes

Bronzed and gilded eyes come back around every year and they're truly a seasonal summer makeup staple. "Forget harsh black liners as this summer, it’s all about bronze-on-bronze," says Spencer. "Shimmery bronze shadows paired with matching liner add depth and warmth to the eyes without overpowering. It’s sultry, soft, and so easy to wear, perfect for beach dinners or rooftop cocktails," she says.

Bright pink blush isn't going anywhere for summer 2025. Right now, we're seeing creamy hues of pink on the cheeks that make a statement. "Blush is having a moment and this season. It’s smooth, creamy and perfectly flushed," says Spencer. "Buttery pink cream blushers melt into the skin, giving a youthful, fresh-faced finish that looks like you’ve been kissed by the summer breeze." Consider going a shade bolder than you would normally for your blush to bring it into the summer season.

5. Bronze Goddess

Glowing, bronzy skin is the perfect summer makeup look. "Think sun-kissed and luminous but not sweaty," says Spencer. "This trend is all about that radiant, golden glow that looks like you’ve just stepped off a private yacht in the Mediterranean. Achieve it with lightweight foundations, liquid highlighters and bronzing drops for a warm, ethereal finish that catches the light just right," she says. For extra radiance, use a shimmering body oil to add a sun-kissed lustre to limbs and your décolletage.

6. Cool-Toned Shadow

While warm-toned shades are synonymous with the hues of summer, switching to cool-toned shades for your eye look can help update your look. It's a little unexpected, yet feels modern. "Cool tones are having a comeback and they feel so fresh right now," says Bone. "Think icy blue lids, smoky violets and soft gunmetal greys. They’re trending because people are craving something different from the warm browns and golds we’ve seen for years," she says. "I like to start with a light wash of color and build it up. Pair with a taupe or grey liner and fluttery lashes—a touch of silver in the inner corner really ties it all together for a modern finish."

Ask any dermatologist or aesthetician, and they'll tell you that sunscreen is the most critical step in a skincare routine. Without it, all of the other steps, including expensive serums, toners, and moisturisers, are for naught. That's because the sun's UV rays will accelerate ageing, create new skin concerns and most importantly, increase the potential for serious health issues.

Knowing this, I'm super diligent about applying daily sunscreen, but not just any old sunscreen. I've been a beauty editor for close to 10 years. After trying almost every sunscreen formula under the sun (pun intended), I have a strict set of standards for my daily SPF. First, it must be a sensorial delight to apply. I'm talking about a lightweight feel, smooth texture, and absolutely no pilling (under any circumstances). Second, it must provide adequate, broad-spectrum sun protection. (I always aim for SPF 30 or higher.) Third, it must make my skin look better than it did before. Yep. I won't settle for just okay. And I definitely won't settle for a white cast. I want my sunscreen to make my skin look hydrated, plump, and dewy.

It depends on the spot. Sometimes I can’t stop myself, I can’t hold myself back, but it really depends. Sometimes you’ve got to just leave it.

4. You only have one product to use for the rest of your life. What is it?
Just one? That’s hard! Something that’s pretty consistent throughout the day is just making sure that the lips are moisturised. So something [for that].

5. What’s the best piece of beauty advice you have ever received?
Doniella Davy from Euphoria always emphasises the storytelling we can do with makeup. It’s something I’ve definitely taken into account.

6. What’s your favourite Mugler fragrance, and how do you like to wear it?
I am an Angel girl, so I love my Mugler Angel. But there’s this exciting and growing family of different Angel [fragrances]. Most recently, we have Angel Stellar. I’m excited about [this fragrance] as it has these new creamy pistachio notes and brighter bergamot accents, but it’s still grounded by captivating woody notes. It’s a bright, powdery, ambery gourmand that we are playing with.

7. Strong lip or a strong eye?
Strong eye, just because I’m more vulnerable to messing up a lip!

8. You’re having your nails done. What’s your go-to colour?
Just a sheer nude [nail polish], honestly. You can’t really go wrong with it. It goes with everything, and I like having the freedom to wear what I want with it.

9. What's your favourite lipstick colour?
I like a soft pink or a taupe. I think they can work really well. Something that’s not too far off my natural colour but just sort of elevates it.

10. What’s your biggest beauty no-no?
Definitely going to bed with makeup on.

11. Which celebrity’s hair would you love to steal?
Maybe in another life, Helena Bonham Carter’s hair. I think she’s magical.

12. Are you team dewy or matte?
I would say matte right now, but that could change.

13. What's the greatest drugstore product for under £10?
A pair of tweezers. I love taming my eyebrows, and I think eyebrow shape is really important.

14. Describe your brows in one word.
They’ve definitely been through some different eras. I would say that right now they are… sleek.

15. Makeup primer: love it or hate it?
I particularly like [makeup primer] for eye looks. I think it can be really helpful for that, but maybe not all the time for everything.

16. Best beauty hack?
Something I like to do when I’m feeling extra is to spray a bit of perfume in my hair. I have this vision of walking past someone and them getting a whiff of it. I don’t know if it actually happens, but I like to think it might.

17. If you could only wear one fragrance in the evening, what would it be?
It’s definitely in the [Mugler] Angel family. A lot of these fragrances are really versatile. Maybe Angel Elixir or Fantasm. I also think the new Angel Stellar could work well. I feel it’s slightly more sophisticated, so it depends on what kind of night you’re having, but I think they all work in different ways.

18. Which era of beauty inspires you most?
[The] ‘90s [are] always a really good reference point. I also think the ‘60s [were] really sweet.

19. Eyelash curlers: love them or hate them?
When it’s a mascara day, I use [eyelash curlers]. Although last year, for the first time, I tried a lash lift. That was nice, and I didn’t have to worry about [curling my lashes] as much. But you have to maintain it. So when in doubt, I’m a fan of an eyelash curler.

20. Confession time: how often do you clean your makeup brushes?
Definitely not as often as I should.

21. What do you do in your downtime to relax and reset?
Not a very exciting answer, but I like to be a homebody, hanging out with my friends. There’s so much bouncing around and travelling and high-pressure work environments, so really, the best recipe for some good downtime is being cosy with loved ones.

There are three facts that I know to be true: You can always count on an all-black outfit to make you look stylish, the 2025 hair trends are the most elegant yet and that French women have always and will continue to be the acme of chic. From their just-kissed lips (or “bisou, as they say it), to their perfect blue jeans, our neighbours across the channel are a barometer for sophistication.

They’re shrouded in mystique, which only adds to their charm and allure. But if you ask me, one of the reasons French women are so coveted is because of this one simple trademark— their hair. Across every arrondissement in Paris, sprawling hill in Provence or coastal town on the Côte d'Azur, you’ll find a French woman whose tresses are softly tousled and beautifully undone. Indeed, it’s never overly styled or, dare I say it, slicked back. (Sacré bleu! Could you imagine!) Yet, if there is one quality of their hair that’s remained an object of our desire, it’s their fringes.

Much has always been discussed about the French girl fringe, from its low-maintenance upkeep to face-framing effect. This style has truly become a staple in the beauty industry. If you open up any hair trend report from the last few years, you’re bound to see some iteration of it, purely because it is so classic. There’s no denying its appeal, which is why when it came time for my own seasonal hair refresh, I decided to get the chop myself. There are many Gallic muses to draw inspiration from. However, the one I kept coming back to was Parisian blonde bombshell, Brigitte Bardot.

While I don’t share her colouring, pouty lips or siren eyes, there’s something about her cheekbone sweeping bangs that is so easy-going and flattering for so many hair textures and face shapes. In fact, I’d contend that the Bardot fringe hair trend is the perfect starting point for anyone who is eager to get a French girl fringe, but is concerned with the upkeep and commitment.

Who is Brigitte Bardot?

But before I break down the hairstyle, I need to take a moment to acknowledge the inspiration behind the trending cut. Brigitte Bardot is a French actress, model, musician and screen siren proficient in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

A fixture of the French New Wave film movement, she worked closely with auteur directors like Jean-Luc Godard, Roger Vadim and Louis Malle. Her most notable features include her 1956 breakout film And God Created Woman and 1963’s Contempt, a movie set across Rome and Capri about an actress and playwright’s failing marriage.

What is the Bardot Fringe Hair Trend?

Like her contemporaries at the time, Bardot was recognised by her long fringe—a symbol that would become her onscreen characteristic and a pop culture fixture. Unlike Jane Birkin or Catherine Deneuve, Bardot’s fringe was parted in the middle and swept across her cheekbones. According to Hollie Rose Clarke, ambassador hair stylist for Living Proof and the talented hairdresser who transformed my own locks, the Bardot fringe hair trend is “a fuller curtain bang that perfectly frames the face”.

“The iconic look is soft with a perfectly ‘I woke up like this’ texture, shorter pieces around the bridge of the nose and textured curve around the face, which graduates into face-framing layers,” she adds. It's a unique take on the French girl fringe as it is less about a linear cut around the eyebrows and more about the positioning of the hair around the cheekbones and jawline. It’s these distinctive elements that give the Bardot fringe hair trend “a big impact, contorting and framing the face for an effortlessly chic revamp,” as Clarke explains.

How is the Bardot Fringe Different to Birkin Bangs?

If you’re familiar with French girl fringes, you would’ve heard of Birkin bangs, which is named after the late French-British actress’s own choppy fringe. (Interestingly, Bikrin and Bardot both worked together once in their respective careers. They both started in 1973’s erotic drama Don Juan, or If Don Juan Were a Woman.)

As for the main difference between these two cuts, Clarke tells me it comes down to length and movement. “The Birkin bangs are shorter than the Bardot fringe, sitting just below the eyebrow with a very soft and textured finish to the ends of the bangs. Of course, you might think that the Bardot fringe hair trend is simply another form of curtain bangs, but as Clarke explains, "curtain bangs have a defined part and a heavier weight line to create a more dramatic shape, while Bardot fringes are softer with a more lived-in and playful texture."

Bardot Fringe Hair Trend, Review

Despite never having a proper fringe before, only light layers through my midsection and ends, I was pleasantly surprised with how versatile, delicate and airy the Bardot fringe was on my wavy hair.

After a thorough consultation, Clarke and I aligned on snipping out some pesky split ends, keeping my hair long so it sat just above my waist and ensuring the Bardot fringe was flowy, angular and still had enough length for me to style however I like. (Read: throwing it back in a sophisticated updo or blow drying it out to give some body and volume to my face.)

How to Style the Bardot Fringe Hair Trend

The hardest part of any haircut is keeping that salon-worthy feeling at home. I'm somewhat of a styling novice myself, so I tapped Clarke's extensive wealth of knowledge to ensure I knew exactly how to keep my Bardot fringe in good condition on my own. Here's what she had to say.

"There are two methods to styling the Bardot fringe hair trend: the blow-dry technique and the lazy-girl version." Regardless of whether you're air drying or using hair tools, both processes will begin the same way. "Prep your hair with something that will give structure to the hair, such as Living Proof Volume & Root Lifting Spray," Clarke explains. "This will reduce frizz by 86% and add natural definition to the hair.

If using a hair dryer, you'll want to "blow dry your fringe forwards without lifting the root, keep the fringe close to your forehead". Once it's 90% dry, "pop your fringe into your desired part and blow dry away from the face," Clarke continues. Finally, "wrap the end of your fringe away from your face and create a soft flick."

For those who want to avoid excess heat, you'll want to begin the styling process by removing any excess moisture and dampness. Once 70% dry, Clarke advises to "add a no-dent hair clip to keep the parting of the fringe from opening too much."

"Either tuck the ends of your fringe behind your ears without tension or use another no-dent clip to create an over-exaggerated flick up at the ends of the fringe. We want to see a 'U' shape."
