And this, of course, extends to my blushers, opting for pared-back hues like brown and burgundy over bold shades each and every time. However, luckily for me, there’s a new blush trend on the radar of chic people that perfectly strikes the balance between feeling fresh for 2026 and timeless enough to fit seamlessly into my classic makeup routine. And you might just recognise it from '90s makeup looks. Enter the nude blush.

Between capri pants, thin eyebrows and low-rise jeans, it's clear that 2026 is the year of the ‘90s revival. But none of these things feels quite as compelling to me as the return of the nude blush. It enhances your natural complexion without looking overdone or taking you out of your comfort zone, creating a healthy, natural-looking flush on the cheeks. It also works well with every type of makeup look, from a bold red lip to your everyday "no-makeup" makeup look. When it comes to championing the ‘90s nude blush trend, it should come as no surprise that MAC Cosmetics is at the top of this list. And with 29 shades (11 of which are nude) to choose from, it’s no wonder why this blush is constantly being praised on social media at the moment. So, of course, after seeing the rave reviews on my TikTok For You Page, I decided to give it a try. I’m obsessed with the blurring effect this blush has, even with the shades that have a more radiant finish. It’s the perfect second-skin blush to add to the soft-matte makeup looks I’ll be turning to when early autumn comes around. My only recommendation would be to prep your skin properly if you have dry skin like me.

2. Merit Beauty Flush Balm

If you’re a regular reader of Who What Wear, then you’ll know just how much we adore Merit’s Flush Balm for its dewy and healthy-looking finish. With seven different nude shades to choose from, this blush will suit a wide range of skin tones. Plus, it's formulated with vitamin E, which helps to boost hydration. This allows it to blend in seamlessly as opposed to sitting on top of the cheeks, which only adds to the natural-looking nude glow it gives you. Due to how creamy the texture is, it doesn’t last as long on the face as other blushes on the market; however, it’s compact enough to take on the go for reapplication, so I’m not at all discouraged from using it.

3. Nars Insatiable Liquid Blush

If you’re a lover of liquid blush, look no further than Nars’ Insatiable Liquid Blush. Launching only two months ago, I haven’t had this in my makeup bag for very long; however, it's already become a firm favourite in my nude blush collection. It's a highly pigmented but easily blendable formula that settles into a second-skin-like satin finish. All Access and Brash are the perfect nude shades for my deeper skin tone, but there are also four other lighter hues to choose from. Just be aware that a little goes a very long way and the product dries down rather quickly, so blend it out immediately to avoid patchiness.

4. BareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush

As someone with dry skin, I’m very critical of powder blushes and their ability not to look cakey or patchy on my cheeks. However, BareMinerals’ Gen Nude Powder Blush was an instant hit with me. Created to mimic the natural flush on your face, this creamy pressed powder was created to give the skin a flattering, soft-focus finish. With ten nude shades to choose from, there’s something to suit every skin tone, so if you’re looking for a truly natural-finish blush that’s subtle and won’t be overpowering, I cannot recommend this enough.

5. Haus Labs Color Fuse Glassy Cheek Stick

I have extremely dry and eczema-prone skin, so any makeup product that incorporates skin care into its formula very quickly grabs my attention. The Haus Labs Glassy Cheek Stick in Clove is not only the perfect nude shade for my deeper skin tone, but it's also packed with skin-loving ingredients that improve hydration by up to 62%. And, trust me when I say it lives up to its claim. It’s dewy, luminous and glowy, but have no fear about it looking too waxy or artificially shiny like other blushes on the market often do. Not to mention that if Glassy Clove is too dark for you, this skin-loving formula also comes in a range of increasingly lighter nude shades. Just note that if you have oily or acne-prone skin, this is one that you’ll want to set with a powder on top.

6. Rhode Pocket Blush in Tan Line

Perfect for on-the-go use, Rhode’s Pocket Blush quickly became a cult favourite amongst editors and makeup lovers alike. And the shade Tan Line is the perfect shade for those with tan or medium skin tones. A wearable pinky-brown that was created to mimic a sun-kissed glow, this creamy blush can be sheered out for a natural flush or built up for a more dramatic look. This shade is too light for me personally, but I’m a big fan of the deeper shade, Toasted Teddy, which is a gorgeous bronze-terracotta that blends in seamlessly for a glowy, neutral-looking finish.

If you have a paler complexion, opting for a light pink or beige tone is your best bet for a natural-looking nude blush that doesn't look muddy or orange. When looking for the perfect recommendation. Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk Cheek Tint was by far the most popular amongst my fellow editors and friends. Described as a soft, neutral beige-pink, this your-cheeks-but-better shade will give you a natural but glowy flush of colour that can be built up into a more dramatic look. But don’t just take it from me; one reviewer says, “Rosy Nude is one of those shades that’s incredibly easy to build up or keep sheer, depending on the look I’m going for. I wear the shade Rosewood, which comes up as a slightly flushed, pink hue on my cheeks, perfect for that "no makeup" makeup look. Oh, and the dewy finish is to die for.

If you want a more statement makeup look, Fenty Beauty is where it's at. I love using this stick to add a real pop of colour to my cheeks or lips. It has a really cooling, almost jelly-like texture that adds a gorgeous sheen to the skin, and it features colour shift technology to create a customised rosy glow. I think I'll be reaching for this the entire summer.

3. Wonderskin pHlush Stick

Another multi-use stick I can't get enough of is the Wonderskin pHlush Stick. Less jelly-like and more creamy than the option above, this stick can be used on the lips and cheeks, although, because of the larger applicator, I personally find it easier to use as a blush. It features pH-adjusting pigment technology to deliver a custom flush to the cheeks that looks naturally beautiful every single time. What I love about this formula is that it also contains jojoba, castor, and sunflower seed oils, shea butter and niacinamide, so it makes your cheeks look so plump and juicy.

If you're after a specific lip product, let me introduce you to the HAUS Labs PhD Hybrid Lip Oil. I'm a big fan of lip oils, and this has quickly become a new favourite. The texture is perfect. Summer is fast approaching here in the UK. But to be honest, it didn’t hit me until this week, when the temperature really started to rise. And this can only mean one thing; it's time to start packing away my fuller coverage makeup products to make space for my lighter beauty essentials.

And the most recent method I’ve discovered, specifically comes from TikTok, and just might be my favourite yet. Enter the “blonzing” technique.

What Is Blonzing?

As you might have already guessed, “blonzing” is a make-up technique that involves blending bronzer and blusher together to help you achieve the fresh, sun-kissed skin we often see in summer, but without any risk of UV damage, of course. I’m very big on my sun protection, so I’m all about anything that will give me that healthy glow without any of the risks that run from being under the actual sun.

The blonzing method initially started with simply mixing your separate cheek products together; however, as time has gone on, there are now a number of multi-use products that perfectly balance the flush of colour you get from your blusher with the mimicked tan you achieve from applying bronzer. This allows for getting a natural-looking and radiant finish, as well as allowing you to avoid layering too many heavy cheek products on when it’s hot outside.

Every now and again, certain blushers seem to define a season. Whilst this isn't a new shade from Rhode, Google searches for Tan Line are up over 5,000% right now, and my feeds suggest this is about to be a TikTok-viral blush, so I'm betting that it's about to become the new Toasted Teddy for summer 2026. And with so much interest in the cream blush shade, I decided to get my hands on one to see what all the hype is about for myself.

The Shade

Tan Line is a wearable pinky-brown that leans a little warm on the skin. A lot of blush shades scare me, but on my light skin, it's become a new favourite going into summer when I want something pink-leaning, not entering bubblegum territory. It's a stunning shade that I've been wearing day and night, thanks to the adaptable formula that allows you to wear it as a gentle glow or layer for a more intense flush of colour. I have Sleepy Girl, which is similar but leans more mauve-y and cool-toned (which I've been wearing on repeat), but Tan Line feels like it's more summery sister.

The Application

If you're not already familiar with the Pocket Blushes, then you might be wondering what the formula is like. I'll be honest, this is one of my absolute favourites. I've tested upwards of hundreds of blushers as a beauty editor, and this creamy formula is foolproof. I'm forever scared of applying too much blush, but this never happens with this formula. It's buttery soft, easy to blend and melts straight into the skin with a satiny finish. It's a glowy blush, but without any sparkle or shimmer.

A little gives a natural-looking glow, but it's easily built up if you're going for full glam. It's easy enough to dot onto your cheeks and blend with your fingers, as it is to apply with a makeup brush. With the sun-kissed tones of this blush, I like to sweep it across my cheeks, tap a little onto my nose and even apply a little to my hairline and chin to look like I've spent the day in the sun.

My Verdict

I'm so glad I discovered this Rhode Pocket Blush shade. I never really got on with Toasted Teddy—which looks stunning on deeper skin tones than mine—but this feels just as sun-kissed on my light skin tone. My skin is starved of sunshine right now (it's crying out for a summer holiday), but Tan Line brings a healthy glow and warmth to my skin that looks like I've just come back from a week abroad, and I just know I'm going to wear it all summer.

As I write, we're in the middle of fashion month and awards season, and both the runways and red carpets have been offering up countless beauty moments that I just know are going to shape how we'll be doing our hair and makeup before long. And don't get me started on the spring/summer 2026 beauty trends starting to come through now. In short, there is inspiration aplenty.

However, it's not just the trends on the runways, red carpets or our feeds that shape the emerging makeup trends. Many beauty trends are born out of product launches themselves. As a beauty editor, hundreds of new beauty launches land on my desk each month, and, behind each new product, brands dedicate huge resources to finding out what consumers like you and I really want in our makeup bags. And so they can often be quite telling about the emerging makeup trends we'll see in the coming months.

After hours of scrolling through celebrity beauty moments and testing new products, I'm ready to share my findings. Ahead, I've rounded up the spring makeup trends that you'll absolutely want to try for yourself this year. This is all makeup inspiration you'll need for the season.

1. Leading-Lady Blush

After consistent years of placing blush high on the cheeks to sculpt the face, it's returning to where it's actually meant to be: on the apples of the cheeks. Bold blush has been dominating for a while now, but we're instead seeing more natural-looking flushes that look like you're naturally blushing. It's also impossible to ignore the influence thatWuthering Heights has had on our blush application in recent months, and a glance at the recent red carpets reveals that this blush placement is returning once again.

Worn lower and centralised on the apples of the cheeks, it emulates a natural flush from spending time outside, and we can expect to see more Brontë-blush-inspired looks as we head into spring, perfectly timed with the rise of matte and powder products that deliver a second-skin hint of colour to your complexion.

2. Blurred Lips

For a long time, lipstick has often felt far too fussy and high-maintenance. But for spring, beauty brands have been ushering in a new era of sheer-matte lipsticks and lip liners that softly sculpt and deliver a soft-focused, blurred finish. Celebrity makeup artist Nina Park has pioneered the blurred lip look, where she artfully sculpts her clients' lips with various shades of liner. However, you needn't have the artistic hand of a makeup artist to get in on the look. Merit's Signature Lip Blush and Violette_FR's Bisou Balm come in sheer-matte finishes that add a tint of colour for a "just bitten" effect, whilst Rhode's Peptide Lip Shade effortlessly contours the lips for a blurred result.

3. Skincare Hybrids

With the promise of warmer days ahead, it's only natural that we want to trade in the heavier foundations of winter for lighter bases come spring. And, thankfully, skin tint, tinted SPF and concealer formulations are harder-working than ever before. This new wave of skincare-makeup hybrids does so much more than conceal. Take Outside In's Silk Serum Foundation, which applies like a weightless serum but self-sets into a light-diffusing base, whilst delivering hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to hydrate and strengthen the skin barrier. 4. Suede Bronzer

Just like cream blushers, cream bronzers have dominated our makeup bags for seasons now. However, it's impossible to ignore the flurry of baked bronzers launching for spring 2026. Powder bronzers often get a bad rap for being heavy or glitzy, but newer formulations are more buttery and softer than ever before. Rather than looking flat on the skin, they instead lend a matte, suede-like texture and soft-focus finish. The best part? Once the weather warms up, they won't melt off your skin!

5. Au Natural Brows

Between the rise in brow lamination and fluctuating brow trends of the past decade (we've had 2016 dip-brows, bleached brows and the return of the skinny '90s brow), it seems we're finally leaving our brows well and truly alone this season. Going hand-in-hand with the continuation of "no makeup" makeup or undone waves, I'm seeing more and more brows looking seemingly untouched, both on the red carpets and the runways.

Besides having a great brow tech on speed dial, there are now plenty of brow pencils and brow gels that neatly groom and shape your arches to a naturally enhanced effect. Glossier's Boy Brow Arch and Merit's Brow 1990 pencils have some of the smallest nibs I've ever seen to mimic a microbladed effect, and L'Oréal Paris' Infallible Brow Lamination Gel coaxes even the most stubborn hairs into place with lasting hold.

6. "Charred" Eyeliner

As I write, Gucci's autumn/winter 2026 show is still firmly in my mind, where lead makeup artist Sam Visser sent models down the runway with heavy, smouldering, kohl-rimmed eyes that would be the envy of any party girl. After seasons of barely there eye makeup, no mascara and next-to-no eye shadow on the eyes, you can take this as your sign to pick up an eyeliner and have fun with eye makeup again. Is it the most springlike makeup trend? Perhaps not. But it does feel like a refreshing eye-makeup trend. If you find black too harsh, try a brown eyeliner instead. And you can't go wrong with a Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner.

In an ideal world, I wouldn’t wear makeup at all. I love the idea of bare skin, freckles on show, and a face that looks exactly like it does first thing in the morning—just perhaps after a really good night’s sleep and a litre of water. But stress, hormones, late nights and the occasional breakout mean I do reach for makeup, even if my goal is never to look made up. What I want is skin that looks like itself, only a little more even, a little brighter, and a little more awake.

Heavy foundation, bold blush, and perfectly painted lips have their place, but for day to day I want products that do their job well, but subtly. How to Choose Natural-Looking Makeup Products:

Choosing natural-looking makeup starts with understanding your own skin and letting that guide every decision. Coverage should be flexible, not fixed—look for sheer-to-light formulas that can be built only where you need them, rather than products that mask the entire face. Anything described as “skin-like,” “second skin,” or “blurring” is usually a good place to start, especially if it comes in cream or tint form.

Shade selection matters more than you might think. With blusher, bronzer, and highlighter, opt for tones that already exist in your face—whether that be soft pinks, muted peaches, or gentle browns—and choose subtle sheen finishes rather than full-on sparkle.

Texture is just as important as colour. Natural makeup should melt, blend, and move with your skin. If a product dries too quickly, feels tight, or sits on top of pores, it will always look like makeup. Creams, liquids, and finely milled powders tend to be the most forgiving, especially when applied with fingers or a soft brush.

Over the summer, we saw "sunburn blush" dominate social media. This trend was all about mimicking the look of sun exposure without, well, actual sun exposure. It involved applying blush (usually a cream formula) horizontally across the face, from the apples of the cheeks to straight across the nose. When Victoria's Secret–inspired red blush, Hailey Bieber–approved berry blush, or spicy orange blush was used, it really did mimic the natural flush you'd get from a day spent under the sun.

Now that we're firmly in the midst of autumn and with winter just around the corner, "sunburn blush" is less relevant. Enter "toasted blush," the new trend that's taking its place. (This is a micro-trend that belongs to the greater toasted makeup trend that's flooding my FYP on Instagram and TikTok. "Toasted nails" are even trending!) Here, Emily Ratajkowski demonstrates the "toasted blush" look courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo. Can you see a difference? Toasted blush involves the same product placement as the sunburn-inspired look, except it substitutes the more summery shades for warm, cozy, and earthy tones—think soft clay colours and terracotta tones.

It's tempting to think of toasted blush as the next evolution of sunburn blush, aka the same thing in a different colourway. That said, there's another element that makes it unique. Unlike sunburn blush, which has a youthful vibe, toasted blush is intended to appear more sultry and lived-in, almost as if the blush has melted into the skin. "This trend is all about tonal uniformity (deep browns, burnt oranges, rusty reds) to create an alluring essence of heat across the complexion," celebrity makeup artist Andrew Denton previously told Who What Wear.

To re-create the look, reach for a warm-toned blush and don't worry about being too precise with your application. Remember, it's all about a sultry, lived-in effect, so blending and smudging the blush out with your fingers or a sponge isn't just acceptable, it's encouraged. Bonus points if you pair it with a warm-toned neutral lip colour and soft, sultry eye makeup per Ratajkowski's look.

As someone who's accustomed to the unpredictable UK weather, it seemed ungrateful to wish away the summer season. However, the truth is I’ve been counting down the days to autumn and winter since the beginning of August. From the stylish outerwear I’ll be investing in to the long walks around London with a hot matcha in hand, winter has my heart. How to Find the Right Blush for Dark Skin

Depending on your complexion and undertone, all too often, rosy pinks vanish into dark skin or turn ashy, leaving us with zero payoff. You want to look for something that blends seamlessly with your complexion, leaves it looking radiant and also something that pops, but not too much. (We must beat the blush blindness allegations, after all.)

To help us all, I've picked the brains of a true expert in the game, Dame Pat McGrath, founder of Pat Mcgrath Labs. “For me, blush is the accessory that completes the look on every skin tone. I’m obsessed with blush, and it’s one of my favorite moments in the beauty process. With the right shade and formula on deeper skin, the look will be major,” she tells me. These are her top tips for choosing the right product for your deep skin tone.

1. Shade Depth and Undertone Match

Look past the packaging names and just look out for the berries, plums, brick reds, burnt corals and deep terracotta shades. McGrath’s top tip? “For deeper skin tones, I focus on both undertone and formula when selecting a blush. Warm undertones look beautiful in rich corals and terracottas, while cool undertones are beyond gorgeous with berries and plums,” McGrath advises. Neutral undertones? With a mauve blusher, you can’t go wrong, but you’re free to play with warmth or coolness. Just avoid ultra-pale or peachy shades that can give you a jump scare when photographed.

Usually, I’d say that creams and liquids are "it", as they blend into skin for that soft-glam finish we all love, without looking flat or chalky. It's not often that you'll find me fawning over yet another makeup launch, let alone a blush. But every beauty insider knows that Glossier Cloud Paint is far from your average blusher. Having flipped the world of minimalist makeup trends on its head all the way back in 2017, this iconic glowy blush has found its way into practically every beauty editor's makeup bag—courtesy of its buildable pigment and a radiant finish.

And in my humble opinion, it paved the way for the whole cream blush movement before it even became a thing (a bold statement, I know). In fact, I can account for at least five emptied-out tubes that I've thrown out in the last four years alone. Now, imagine my excitement when I got wind of the news that Glossier is launching a new iteration of the Cloud Paint blusher—a hybrid plush formula that applies like a cream and dries down like powder for a soft-focused, blurred makeup look.

Full disclosure: I've sworn off powder formulas a good few years ago, and apart from an occasional dab of setting powder, my choice of makeup products often leans on the glowier side (read: skin tints, cream bronzers, liquid highlighters—you name it). So, although I was very much intrigued by the launch, at first, I was convinced that because of its powdery nature, the new Glossier blush wasn't for me.

From the get-go, I loved the packaging. In keeping with the brand's aesthetic, it is minimalist yet playful, mirroring the colour of each shade on the outside. Housed inside each compact, the formula is unlike any blush I've tried so far (and that's no mean feat, considering I've quite literally tested hundreds). The "memory cloud" soufflé-like texture means that each dab into the product feels like touching the softest Play-Doh.

Innovative textures aside, the shade range doesn't disappoint either. With ten shades in total, four of said shades were inspired by the original Cloud Paint blush line-up (Puff, Beam, Soar and Storm), while the remaining six are brand-new additions. From wearable mauve-y pinks and bolder corals and reds to the more muted blonzer-esque shades, there's no shortage of options to complement every skin tone.

Having opted for shade Puff (a neutral pinky hue), I first applied it using the brand's new dual-ended Cloud Paint Cheek Brush, which features a pillowy-soft end that feels like applying makeup with your fingertips and a fluffy brush end designed to buff, diffuse and blend.

Make no mistake: this isn't the most pigmented blusher on the market, but nor is it trying to be. It offers a buildable veil of flexible coverage that can be easily amped up if you're after that dramatic look, but it's also sheer enough to wear on a day-to-day basis.

To my surprise, it doesn't feel drying at all. Rather, it delivers the same smooth and seamless application that you'd expect from a cream blusher. Thanks to ingredients like powdered ceramides and botanical glycerides, it doesn't grip to any of my dry patches, ensuring comfortable wear all day long.

As it dries down, you start to notice the blurring effect almost immediately—but not the kind that leaves you looking all cake-y and filtered. Although it is on the more matte side, it still maintains that skin-like finish, which is almost never the case with other powder blushes I've tried before.

Above all, I appreciate how seamlessly it works with the rest of my makeup. Often, when you apply a powder directly on top of a glowy foundation, the formula may lift, move around and inevitably turn patchy. I'm glad to report that due to its hybrid nature, the Glossier formula does nothing of the sort. In fact, I have even tried layering some liquid highlighter right over top to restore some of the shine on the high points of my cheeks, and I have had no issues whatsoever.

That said, as impressive as it is, the real test is the longevity check. After all, we all know that blush is the first product to move, slip or gradually disappear throughout the day. And nothing puts a formula to the test better than wearing it on a busy day of running around between press appointments in central London.

To my surprise, despite having been on my face since the crack of dawn, it stayed firmly in place without budging. Around late afternoon, I topped it up to intensify the pigment just before heading out to dinner, and I can confirm that by the time I'd returned home, apart from looking a bit worn-in, it sure didn't look as though it had been over 11 hours since the first application. About the only con worth mentioning is that I wish the compact also included a mirror for easier on-the-go touch-ups.

Long story short, this blusher singlehandedly made me fall in love with powder formulas all over again. Everything from its innovative texture to the impressive shade range and the handy brush that it comes with proves that the era of blurring makeup products is far from over.

This is one of the most wearable brown blushes I've tried—partly because the formula is sheer enough to never feel too heavy, but still buildable. Merit has nailed that "no-makeup makeup" feel. I didn't expect to love this one as much as I do. It looks quite dark in the pan, but on the skin it has a softness and dimension that's really flattering. The two-tone compact makes it feel a bit more layered than a flat brown blush—the outer shade gives structure, while the pink centre adds a soft flush—but it's worth noting that this had the lightest coverage of all the ones I tested. I wasn't wearing foundation—just a bit of concealer—and I found the colour struggled to come through. I suspect the pink centre diffuses the brown tones more than I expected, so the overall effect feels less brown, more neutral-rosy. That could be great for someone looking to dip into this trend without going full tonal. I tend to reserve this for evenings or when I'm wearing a red lip and want everything else to feel pared back. There's something really elegant about how it sits on the skin—it doesn't shout for attention, but it gives that 'I know what I'm doing with makeup' effect. I wouldn't call it beginner-friendly, but if you're confident with your brushwork, this one adds real sophistication to a look. It also doubles beautifully as an eyeshadow—just a quick swipe through the crease and you’re done.

In an era where it seems like a new beauty item goes viral every second, it can be hard to know which products are actually worth investing in versus which are simply overhyped fads. There are, however, those few beauty staples that have stood the test of time despite the constant influx of new products. Think Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle perfume, Clinique's Honey Almost lipstick and of course, Benefit's Benetint Lip & Cheek Stain.

As someone who loves easy-to-use makeup that looks natural and glowy with minimal effort, you'd be surprised to know that I had never tried Benefit's iconic Benetint Lip & Cheek Stain until recently, and there was a very simple reason for that: the shades just didn't pique my interest. Despite hearing nothing but good things about it from my fellow beauty editors, as someone with a cooler undertone, the brighter reds and pinks this tint was available in never called to me. However, when two new shades of this iconic formula landed on my desk, I knew I had to give it a try.

The History

Created in 1976, Benetint (named Rose Tint at the time) was originally created by founders Jane and Jean Ford as a custom-made tint for an exotic dancer who wanted to enhance her nipples for performances.

After its initial success. The original rose red hue was extended to four other tints, which have since been discontinued. The brand now carries three versatile shades that can be purchased in-store and online across a range of different retailers.

The Shades

Benetint now comes in three shades: The original Rose (a true red), Raspberry (a berry pink) and Dark Cherry (a burgundy-brown). All three shades can be sheered out or built up for more pigment on the skin, meaning it's suitable for a wide range of skin tones. My personal favourite is the shade Dark Cherry, as this appears as a natural-looking flush on my deeper skin.

The Formula

There are plenty of cheek and lip tints on the market at the moment, but while most of them have a jelly or serum-like texture, Benetint remains a true water tint, giving it more longevity on the skin as well as a more natural-looking finish than oil-based tints. The texture also allows it to apply more easily both over and under other products without disturbing the rest of your makeup base.

My main concern before trying the product was that, because of its watery base, it would be too drying on my already dehydrated skin, as well as be more difficult to blend out. I was also sceptical of the precision with which this product could be applied to my lips and cheeks since the formula was so runny when I tried it on my hand.

The Packaging

The Benetint comes in a glass bottle with a small doe-foot applicator to help with precise application. The shades 'Dark Cherry' and 'Raspberry' can be purchased in a 6ml bottle, whilst the original shade 'Rose' can be purchased in a 6ml or 10ml bottle. It might initially seem like a small amount of product for the price, however, after trying it, I can definitely vouch for the fact that a little goes a very long way. Even if you prefer a more pigmented finish and apply multiple layers, one bottle is sure to last you for at least a few months.

The Application

I initially planned to blend out the product with my fingers; however, after I used the doe foot to apply it, it immediately began to run down my face. So I quickly picked up a brush and decided to blend it out that way.

With a blush brush, the product buffed nicely into the skin, but I would note that you have to work much more quickly with this watery formula than you would with a cream or liquid blush. Even as I was blending it out, I could feel the formula drying very quickly into the skin, meaning you don't have a lot of time to work with it. For this reason, I would be wary of using my finger to blend out the product in fear of patchiness and uneven pigmentation on my cheeks.

I loved how natural 'Dark Cherry' looked on my skin. As I mentioned earlier, I hate red blushes, so I was initially worried that this would appear too red on my cool skin tone. However, it provided me with a skin-like flush that was the perfect balance between glowy and natural.

I particularly loved how it felt after the application. Although you can clearly see the blush on my cheeks, the tint settled into the skin in a way that is undetectable by touch. It also didn't leave a tint on my fingers after a quick transfer test, meaning it won't budge after the initial application. Despite being transfer-proof, it didn't feel too dry on my cheeks after my skin was prepped; however, as my lips were dry, I decided against using it as a lip tint.

If I were to try this on my lips, it would most likely be a formula that I would need to layer gloss on top of; however, I will definitely be using this as a cheek tint for both 'no makeup' and full-coverage makeup days.

My Verdict

Although I would warn people with dry skin like myself that this cannot be used without adequate skin prep (I made sure my skin was thoroughly moisturised before applying), it lasts the entire day without smudging or needing reapplication.

Overall, I was really impressed with this product. The pigment is easily buildable, the finish is so glowy that it instantly gives me that "glass skin" effect and, above all, the formula doesn't feel cake-y at all.

If there's one thing that I don't appreciate when it comes to liquid blushes, it's the accidental leaks. However, this clever packaging from Hourglass takes care of it all: it dispenses the formula out of the bottle in the form of droplets (but only if you press on the other end), eliminating the possibility of leaks. Plus, the formula is unmatched when it comes to pigment (a little goes a long way), and the creamy consistency is super easy to blend.

8. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

The Rare Beauty liquid blush took the beauty industry by storm, and deservedly so. I've sworn by this formula for at least two years now, having always relied on its punchy pigment and a flexible blend. When applied, it feels buttery smooth on the skin, and once blended, it reveals a natural-looking dewy glow. Just be sure not to use too much product, as otherwise you might end up with blush all over your face.

If you're after a natural-looking dewy blusher, allow me to introduce you to the gem that is the Nars Afterglow liquid blush. I also loved the serum-like consistency, which leaves my skin nice and hydrated in the process.

How to Apply Glowy Blush

"There are many ways to apply blush, but one of my favourite ways of getting that fresh, dewy blush of colour is by applying it in a W shape across the nose and cheeks to create a naturally sun-blushed look," shares Tilbury.

"You can also apply it on the apples of your cheeks and blend it up and out towards the ear, or—for an instantly snatched, sculpted look—apply it up and along just above the cheekbones," she adds.

According to Coombes, the key to a seamless finish is layering. "Start by tapping a cream or stick blush onto your fingers; the warmth helps it blend seamlessly into the skin," he says.

"Then, use a damp sponge to diffuse any edges and press the product deeper into the base for a second-skin effect." And if you're after a bolder look and a lasting finish, Coombes suggests "sweeping a pearlescent powder blush over the top with a fluffy brush."

For those of us after an extra glowy finish, Coombes recommends lightly dusting your cheeks with a touch of highlighter "just above the blush and blend the two softly together to create a beautiful gradient effect."

"One of my favourite tricks is to tap a sheer lip gloss or balm directly on the highest point of the blush as a glossy topper—it gives a reflective, editorial vibe," he shares.

What to Avoid When Applying a Glowy Blush

That said, Coombes advises against "over-powdering the skin before applying cream or fluid blush textures, as it can diminish the glassy dewiness and result in a patchy finish."

"Also, heavy shimmer formulas can accentuate uneven skin texture or pores. Glowy blush reflects light, so keeping it lifted and blended out will maintain that fresh, natural radiance," he adds.

So, when my two loves collide and a new Victoria Beckham Beauty blusher lands on my desk, you better believe it gets my attention. Enter: Victoria Beckham Beauty Colour Wash Blush Water Tint.

And I know what you're thinking, doesn't Victoria Beckham Beauty already have a blusher? Yes, and it's good. A cream blush formula, Cheeky Posh, is a creamy stick blusher that can be scribbled onto cheeks and blended with fingers. The texture is velvety, and it blends like a dream into a soft-dewy finish. And, truthfully, it's one of my favourite blushers going. Its ease of use and foolproof concept make it a dream for makeup-lazy girls like me. But Colour Wash? Colour Wash is different.

The Formula

The concept of Colour Wash as a blush isn't actually anything new at all—it's a cheek tint. The benefits of this sort of formula span from increased longevity to a water-like lightness. The finishes tend to be more skin-like and natural-looking.

My chief concern before trying? They're messy. Historically, I have found that you have to work quickly when it comes to blending, and there is little room for mistakes to be made. I don't want to deal with messy droppers and brushes—I want to swipe, smudge with my fingers and go. So, I'll be honest here, while I was flattered to be one of the first people to get my hands on the new Colour Wash Blush Water Tints, I was also sceptical.

The thing that makes Colour Wash's formula special, however, is the infusion of skincare ingredients. Infused with mineralised sea water to energise, coconut fruit water to hydrate and an Australian superfruit extract to boost luminosity, the finish of Colour Wash promises to bestow a radiant glow upon skin that looks undetectably natural.

The Shades

Colour Wash has launched with three shades: Flushed (a true red, that Victoria considers her signature shade), Coral (a warm-toned coral) and Vintage Rose (a deep, berry-toned purple). And while the shades of Cheeky Posh are buildable, their more opaque nature means their stretchability (or lack thereof) isn't a selling point. The Colour Wash shades, on the other hand, have a sheer, water-like texture, making them far more wearable across a plethora of skin tones.

As someone who adores a deeper blush, my eye was drawn to both Flushed and Vintage Rose.

The Packaging

There's no doubt the packaging is chic. In fact, in true VB style, it's very chic. The small bottles have clear, frosted glass, with the tint showing through, so if you possess multiple shades, they're easy to differentiate in your makeup bag. It's needless to say they feel luxe. This je ne sais quois is what makes a VBB product a VBB product—a slice of daily luxury that makes you feel great about yourself.

My biggest apprehension, however, was relating to the delivery system—a pipette.

The Application

Pipettes just aren't for me. They're messy and require effort that I don't think needs to be exerted to get a great finish. Looking at the Victoria Beckham Beauty website showed the tint being pooled onto a surface via the dropper and then applied with a buffing brush (whereas I usually use my beloved multi-use Hourglass brush to blend Cheeky Posh, if not my fingers). And those prone to both mess and laziness, like me, will be put off by this. At first, I followed this technique and applied the product to the back of my hand before swirling in my brush, but the stain it left on my hand wasn't ideal. So, I did the beauty-editor cardinal sin and put the dropper straight onto my face.

And, actually, I was impressed. The dropper is stiff and not easy to press, meaning you have total control over how much you are applying. And actually, for the most part, I barely needed to activate the dropper at all, instead just rolling the tip of the pipette over the high points of my cheek. I then used a buffing brush to blend it all up and outwards. This process wasn't anywhere near as messy as I first anticipated and actually only took about 10 seconds.

I also think it's worth mentioning that while you need to act quicker with your blending than you might with a cream blusher (I'd suggest doing one cheek at a time), there is far more blendability than other products of its kind. You can move and blend easily without fear of any unwanted streaks staining the skin.

My only piece of advice? Don't use your fingers to blend if you don't have a sink nearby to wash the tint from your hands—it will stain.

The Result

I appreciate I'm totally tooting my own horn here, but just look at my skin. I genuinely don't think I have ever used a blush that makes my skin look this good. My complexion looks healthy, radiant and truly lit-from-within—all without making my already oily skin look greasy or overly sweaty. The wash settles on the skin in a way that is undetectable by touch—there's no transfer, no tackiness and no budging. Visually, however, the blushes are detectable, and in the absolute best way.

I look as though I have just spent the month at a health retreat, and every square millimeter of my skin is showing my inner health. The results are, frankly, otherworldly. Colour Wash possesses what is, without question, the most beautiful finish I have ever encountered.

My Verdict

If you can't tell, I'm sold. I'm sold over and over and over again. Does the lazy girl in me wish Colour Wash had a doefoot applicator? Kind of. But if that doefoot were to compromise this absolutely unparalleled result in any way, I'd be devastated. I'm willing to overlook the slight adaptation of my daily blush application to look like this.

If you want a natural-looking blush that doesn't require constant reapplication (yes, it does stand up against a 10-hour day rushing around London), Colour Wash is it. Everything else is a waste of your time.

I haven't touched setting powder in months and it's been years since I even considered applying a matte foundation. I don't think it's just me—it's a sign of the times. Whether you have dry skin or oily skin (or something in-between), a glowing finish has been every beauty enthusiast’s goal for a while now. From K-beauty-inspired "glass skin" to its latest iteration "butter skin", our fascination with the pursuit for a radiant complexion shows no sign of disappearing any time soon.

As someone with a typically oily skin type and acne-prone complexion, true 'glass skin' can sometimes feel a bit jarring. After all, I spent most of my teens attempting to remove any hint of shine from my face—which is why the slightly dialled-down 'butter skin' trend appeals to me. For me, 'butter skin' starts with the hard work of my skincare routine, my toner, serum, and moisturiser. When it comes to this year's biggest makeup trends, it's all about blusher. From powder formulas to cream blushers and even multi-use blusher sticks, we're all wanting to add a pop of colour to our cheeks this season.

I personally want my cheeks to look as dewy and juicy as possible, so I've been busy testing the best liquid blushers on the market to see which formulas will come out on top. I've found so many gems, but there's one particular blush that has changed my makeup routine for the better. Yep, I'm talking about none other than Rare Beauty's Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.

This particular product caused quite a frenzy on social media when it launched, with people praising the colour payoff and radiant finish that it gives. Although I'm a beauty editor, I hadn't actually tried it out myself, so when a few samples landed on my desk last week, I practically ran home to give it a go. I wore my favourite shade to work the other day and one colleague instantly complimented me on how glowy and fresh my skin looked. The follow day, someone else said the same—and the compliments have just kept flooding in ever since. I'm so radiant, in fact, that our beauty director, Shannon, is convinced I'm sneaking in a daily facial. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Review

The Formula

As mentioned above, this product comes in the form of a liquid blush. I love using liquid makeup products all year round as I find that they glide onto the skin and add a dewy finish. That being said, you can also purchase the blush in a range of matte finishes (but more on that later).

The formula itself feels lightweight on the skin (I didn't feel like I was even wearing makeup after applying this) and blends in seconds. It is enriched with lotus, gardenia and white water lily so it feels incredibly soothing, and it contains long-lasting pigments so you don't have to worry about it sliding off throughout the day.

The product is buildable, but one thing I will say is that it's very pigmented. I applied a small dot of blusher to each cheek and it gave me a noticeable flush of colour. It can be tricky to get used to at first, but the great thing is that thanks to the impressive colour payoff, this product will last you a very long time.

The Shades

Whether you like a dewy finish, a matte finish, a statement blush or a subtle hint of colour, Rare Beauty has got you covered. The brand currently has 13 shades on offer, ranging from soft pinks to statement reds and deep berry tones. There are four matte and nine dewy finishes, so although the product is more tailored towards that dewy look, there are some toned-down options available.

The Packaging

There's no denying how cute the packaging of this product is, but it's not just a pretty face. Not only does the slim tube make it easy to slip the blusher into your handbag, but it also comes with a doe-foot applicator that you can swipe directly onto your cheeks. My top tip? Remove excess blush from the applicator before applying to avoid wearing too much product.

The Verdict

I honestly can't believe how many compliments I've had on my skin since wearing this blusher. Not only does it add a beautiful flush of colour to my cheeks, but it also gives my makeup a more radiant finish and makes my whole complexion look a lot more alive.

I've had so much fun testing out the different shades and finishes, but my personal favourite has to be "Happy", a cool, dewy pink. I like wearing this shade in the daytime and layering it with "Hope" (a nude mauve) in the evening for a slightly more statement finish.

The formula is easy to apply, it glides onto the skin and it stays in place all day long. Yes, it can take a little while to get used to (I put on way too much product the first time round), but once you realise how pigmented it is you'll know to apply a small amount and build up the colour from there.

Until recently, blusher was very much an afterthought in my makeup bag—I relied upon mascara to make me look awake and bronzer to add a glow to my skin. If I were doing a full face of makeup, I'd maybe add a few dabs of a muted blush to my cheeks, but more often than not, I'd skip the step altogether. To be quite honest, blusher always felt a bit scary—after all, it can be so easy to overdo application, and as someone with a lot of rosy tones within their skin, I was always concerned about looking overly flushed.

Then I discovered cream blush and liquid blushers, and everything changed. Not only are cream and liquid formulas significantly easier to apply than their powder counterparts, but they never look cakey. I've also found them to be longer lasting, and I love the fact that, unlike powders, they don't settle in or draw attention to my acne scarring, or to dry patches or fine lines.

What Should You Avoid In Blushers for Mature Skin?

As we get older, skin naturally becomes drier and loses volume, resulting in it feeling thinner and looser. This means it creases much more easily, leading to fine lines and wrinkles appearing. "Avoid matte and overly powdery formulas which can emphasise dryness and fine lines, and also dull the face," advises Nguyen-Grealis. "Glitter-heavy blushes can settle into wrinkles, too." When it comes to choosing blusher colours, she recommends avoiding very dark or overly bright shades, which can sometimes look too harsh.

How Should You Apply Blusher to Mature Skin?

"Ensure the skin is well-moisturised and primed to create a smooth canvas," says Nguyen-Grealis. "Smile gently and apply blush to the highest point of the apples of your cheeks, blending upwards toward the temples. Avoid applying too close to the nose or too low, which can drag the face down."

As for the best tools to use to apply blusher to mature skin? "Use a damp makeup sponge, your fingers, or a soft brush to blend the product for a natural finish," says Nguyen-Grealis. "If needed, lightly set with translucent powder to avoid overemphasising texture while maintaining a luminous finish."

As I previously mentioned, my relationship with blush started rather rocky, and it took me much trial and error to discover the best formulas — those which blended seamlessly, didn't settle into my fine lines or amplify my rosy complexion. As many of these requirements also apply when it comes to discovering the best blushes for mature skin, I drew upon what I'd learnt to inform my choices.

1. Matte Is Back

This trend might be a little controversial, but matte makeup looks are back in a big way for 2025. "It's more about a matte finish," says Scintu. "But not completely matte, [this trend] has evolved. The Dolce & Gabbana Everlast Foundation still gives a luminous finish, so you get the best of both worlds." Genevieve agrees, saying that this year has seen a big focus on matte lips, too. "I can already see soft-touch matte lips breaking into our routines, but long gone are the days of drying liquid lipsticks. We’re talking hydrating, blurring formulas that still last on the lips without the dryness or cracking."

If matte lips aren't your thing, why not mix things up and opt for a matte base with a glossy lip? Alternatively, you can opt for glowy skin with a matte lipstick to incorporate the trend into your look.

2. Return of the Contour

Speaking of throwback beauty trends that are making a comeback, according to Genevieve, contouring is back for 2025. "Contour was huge in 2017, and it has stuck around to an extent, but I can see the rise in sculpting and enhancing natural features once more," she says. "It’s less about how we can alter [the look of] our bone structure, and more about enhancing what we have."

This is definitely a prevalent trend in the beauty industry, not only in makeup, but skincare too. This year I've seen a rise in sculpting skincare tools, so it's no surprise that people are also wanting to create this naturally sculpted look with their makeup. As Genevieve says, this trend has evolved over the years and now it's all about enhancing our features, and I love to use both cream and powder bronzing products to do this. Focus on applying these products to the cheekbones, jawline and temples for a contoured effect.
