We made it! Finally, it's the first Monday in May, which means that the chicest celebrities and tastemakers are busy ascending the famous steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2026 Met Gala. This year, the museum will display an exhibition titled Costume Art, with the ball's dress code being Fashion Is Art. Guests were asked to "express their own relationship to fashion as an embodied art form and celebrate the countless depictions of the dressed body throughout art history," and so far, many have done what they were told. (There are always a rogue few who don't, a daring choice given how often non-thematic looks are met with negative reviews.) Naturally, cohost Beyoncé knows better, rising to the occasion like she always does—and doing so alongside her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who made her Met Gala debut tonight.

For tonight's ball, Beyoncé's first in a decade, the Cowboy Carter singer chose to work with Balmain's former creative director, designer Olivier Rousteing, together creating a silver, skeletal naked dress fit with a matching crown à la her sister Solange's Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination headpiece from 2018 and a feather cape. (In 2016, at her last Met Gala, she dressed in a peach-colored latex number by Givenchy.) The crown wasn't the only embellished accessory she wore, though. With it, she worked with Chopard, curating a mix of diamond pieces, including a necklace in 18K white gold with one 6.41-carat brilliant-cut diamond and 140 carats of additional diamonds. And that's not counting the bracelet, earrings, and rings.

Her daughter went a simpler route, donning a white, strapless bubble dress with a shorter hemline that perfectly showed off her Cinderella-esque pumps and a coordinating bomber jacket, both by Balenciaga. A diamond necklace with a yellow diamond pendant was the star, while her brown cat-eye sunglasses gave her look a feeling of unbothered coolness that only a 14-year-old girl could pull off. Yes, she's 14, and yes, we're feeling old too.

On the red carpet, Beyoncé was the picture of a proud mom, saying, “She looks so beautiful," about her daughter. "It’s incredible to be able to share [her first Met Gala] with her.” She also praised her daughter’s red carpet posing, saying, “She was ready! She is ready.”

Although I've been a brunette my entire life, as soon as the sun makes an appearance and the temperature soars, I'm always tempted to go lighter. I usually opt for balayage or highlights to give my summer hair colour some dimension, but each summer I feel a jolt of excitement of going just a little bit blonder. In fact, hairdressers and colourists often tell me that once you dabble with blonde, you never look back. However, choosing the right shade of blonde can be an overwhelming decision. What blonde hair colour suits me?

"When choosing the right shade of blonde, it's important to consider your skin tone, its undertone, and also your eye colour," says Cobella. "For people with cooler skin tones, ashier, cool-toned blonde shades suit them best. For warm skin tones, I recommend golden, honey-toned shades." It's also important to consider the maintenance that comes with going blonde. Depending on your hair colour and the colour application method that your hair colourist uses, you may need regular salon appointments to keep your hair colour looking its best. You'll also want to consider how much heat styling you use. "Before going blonde, consider your hair's current condition. Can it withstand going blonde? Think about your lifestyle. Going blonde can require regular upkeep to ensure it looks its best, with hair treatments or salon visits to liven up your blonde," she says.

What products are best for blonde hair?

To best prepare your hair for blonde, Cobella recommends some home haircare. "To make sure your hair is at its healthiest before going blonde, apply regular hair treatments, such as hair masks and oils. If you are sticking with the length for the meantime (*raises hand*), the great news is that long hair has tons of versatility. "We’re absolutely loving shaggy layers for long hair,” says Trygstad. "It feels like we’re moving away from beachy waves and more towards early ’90s styles that are sleek and shiny,” says the stylist. Brow Flick, which is designed to be used in conjunction with Boy Brow, is a super fine-nibbed pen that deposits colour into the brows and is the more polished sister to its pomade counterpart. While Boy Brow gives that fluffy, undone look, Brow Flick allows you to define your brows by focusing on the shape and the arch.

Let’s just say Boy Brow is your daytime BFF and Brow Flick is your evening essential. After applying the pen, you can either leave the brows as they are or finish off with a slick of Boy Brow in either the matching tinted version or the clear option.

Destiny's Child did a lot for me through the 2000s. The group's R&B power songs like "Survivor" and "Bootylicious" were always playing on my Walkman. And when the Charlie's Angels movie came out in 2001 and "Independent Woman" came into my life via the movie's soundtrack, everything changed. That song still gives me confidence. The traditional "naked dress"—as beloved of honed-and-toned celebs everywhere for the past decade, like Beyoncé pictured below—may be on its way out, and I'm pretty pleased about the whole thing. As with all major trends, this cycle appears to have run its course, and the idea of those uncomfortable-looking, artfully placed crystals and embroidered details layered onto nude dancer-style mesh now verges on cheap, tacky and ubiquitous, despite the original designer versions being incredibly intricate and expensive.

Imagine I'm the next J.Lo for a second, if you will, and it seems far cooler in 2018 to do conceal/reveal in a subtler or even a more eccentric way. Rihanna—ever the trailblazer—has been one of the women at the forefront of this revised "naked dress" trend. She was first in the celebrity world to cotton onto the frothy fabulous tulle creations of London-based designer and recent Vogue Fashion Fund winner Molly Goddard, and none of us will ever forget her Swarovski-studded moment at the CFDA Awards back in 2014.

Recently though it seems like another see-through dress trend has captured the imaginations of all kinds of A-listers from Olivia Palermo to Kim Kardashian West. Fueled by Goddard and the likes of Virgil Abloh at Off-White, the extreme tulle dress is taking centre stage. Rather than the nude skin-tone meshes of the past and rather than being bodycon and super-restrictive, these are bright, fun dresses one can eat a bowl of pasta in and then have a really good dance/Boomerang session—priorities for any girl living her best life.

The new wave is often seen in a different light also: Look at Off-White's styling strategy for these '80s-inspired tulle explosions (that reminded me of a particularly memorable Viktor and Rolf moment from S/S 10) and you'll see these fairy-like frocks being styled over cycling shorts or bright trousers for a more casual outcome. The key to doing bodycon the 2017 way is to keep it off-the-shoulder and opt for a sheer, textured fabric rather than Hervé Léger–style tight panelling. As all of her 101 million followers on Instagram know, Beyoncé has been on a roll with her maternity outfit photos. Ever since she first announced her pregnancy back in February, she's been sharing a number of chic looks. But her latest outfit is more casual than we usually see from the star, as Beyoncé just wore ripped jeans, a denim jacket, Converses and an ASOS Maternity £14 white T-shirt with the word "Preggers" written across the chest.

Of course, given that the Bey-approved tee is only £14, it immediately sold out. We wouldn't have expected anything less. But if you're also a mum-to-be or know someone who is, perhaps you can take solace in the fact that the tee could possibly be restocked in the future. Cross your fingers!

Ever dream of working directly with Beyoncé? Well, for three young ladies, that dream has officially become a reality. As Vogue UK reported, the queen herself just signed three young women to her record label, Parkwood Entertainment. The first two contracts went to LA-based sisters Chloe Bailey and Halle Bailey after Bey's manager watched a YouTube video of them singing "Pretty Hurts." The other was offered to ex-The X Factor contestant Sophie Beem.

We don't have further details yet on how involved Beyoncé will be with each of the girls, but no doubt it'll be epic.

Well, ladies and gents, it might only be Monday but we’ve got some news sure to keep you smiling all week. It appears that the queen of all queens—Beyonce, of course—will be collaborating on ONE pair of shoes with esteemed shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti. The pairing makes perfect sense, as Beyonce has long been a fan of his designs and Zanotti himself is the go-to for celebrities with hip-hop credibility. To wit, he is name-dropped in songs by everyone from Nicki Minaj to Pusha T. 

But Zanotti-fandom aside (and the man is seriously talented), the real thrill here is the prospect of some Beyonce-designed soles. In an interview with Forbes, Zanotti revealed, unsurprisingly, that she “has very clear ideas. She knows what she wants.” And how does she compare to other celebrities? “Few are like Beyonce. She’s complete,” the designer, who has previously collaborated with the likes of Kanye West and Kid Cudi, pointed out. 

The only hint we get as to what the sure-to-be-coveted pair will look like is a reference to “ultra-thick platform stilettos,” so they might not be suitable for the everyday life of the BeyHive. But who would expect a quiet shoe from Beyonce? And besides, we’re bound to welcome whatever she delivers with wide-open arms.

It's a fairly common refrain that little sisters borrow clothes from their big sisters—and apparently, it's still very true. At Vivienne Westwood's runway show in Paris yesterday, Solange was spotted in a striking Harbison Collection coat from the brand's S/S 15 collection—and it might seem familiar because big sister Beyoncé wore it just two weeks earlier.

Beyoncé attended Kanye West's debut show for Adidas as part of New York Fashion Week, opting to wear the graphic coat for the occasion. The sisters accessorized the looks very differently, though, allowing a bit more of their personal styles to shine through.
