1. Merit Solo Shadow in Midcentury

This is the Merit Beauty eye shadow I reach for daily. I tend to go between two shades: Midcentury and Brun. Midcentury is a subtle, warm, everyday colour, whereas Brun is a little darker. If I'm doing an evening look, I'll use Brun in the crease of my eye for a little more definition, but you'll usually find me wearing Midcentury all over the lid. The creamy texture glides onto the eyelid and blends like a dream. Plus, you can build it up depending on your desired finish. It's a cream-to-powder formula, but if you have oily eyelids like me, I recommend using an eye shadow primer to help keep it in place.

I'm a big fan of the Armani Eye Tints, and I recently got my hands on the shade Cashew, the perfect brown for everyday wear. I thought a liquid eye shadow would be my oily eyelids' worst nightmare, but this dries down to a natural finish and actually lasts surprisingly well. Don't get me wrong: I did experience a little bit of creasing after a while, but nowhere near as much as I expected. It's definitely a subtle brown, but I really like how it brings out the blue in my eyes (if I do say so myself).

5. OPI Funny Bunny, Baby, Take a Vow and Put It in Neutral

Celebrity manicurist Georgia Rae’s mix of one coat of Funny Bunny, one coat of Baby, Take a Vow and one coat of Put It In Neutral just might be the ultimate formula for effortlessly classy nails. "When I’m doing my own manicures, I like to apply one super-thin layer of Funny Bunny followed by a layer of Love Is In the Bare or Baby, Take a Vow," says Rae. "On a deeper skin tone, I’d layer it with Put It In Neutral, which has a more beige undertone. Both shades allow the sheer white to show through but warm it up slightly so it’s not so stark," she says.

In my decade working as a beauty editor, I've been lucky enough to try thousands of new beauty products. But even with a beauty cupboard full of skincare products, expensive serums and moisturisers at my disposal, my actual skincare routine is pretty minimal. I've learned the hard way that introducing too many products only ends badly for my sensitive skin and acne-prone complexion. The Formula

As I mentioned, what makes this particular serum so special is that it uses retinaldehyde (or retinal for short), which works faster than retinol formulas to plump fine lines and wrinkles, decongest acne-prone complexions, as well as smooth skin texture and fade scarring or pigmentation.

The serum itself is lightweight and non-sticky, absorbing into the skin fast. You apply it after your nightly serums and/or moisturiser. If you're new to retinal (or any retinol or retinoid product), it's advisable to start with strengths 1 or 3 first, building up to applying it once or twice a week in your evening routine. As your skin adjusts, you can increase the frequency to each night, and after you've finished a tube, Medik8 advises you move up to the next strength if you've tolerated the formula well.

What I love most is that Medik8 has incredible clinical trials to back up its products. In an independent trial over 12 weeks, users saw a 20% reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation and an 11% inrease in skin firmness. My Verdict

I’ve been using Medik8 Crystal Retinal for years (alongside the Medik8 Crystal Retinal Eye Cream, which is also a favourite of mine) and nearly every skin expert I speak to recommends it. I have sensitive skin, and it’s one of the few retinoid products I genuinely trust. What makes it stand out is that whether you’re an experienced retinal user or trying the ingredient for the first time, there are different strengths available to suit your skin. As your skin gradually adapts, you can move up to the next level, building on the skincare benefits as you move onto the next strength.

I started with strength 1 (the lowest, which is designed for sensitive skin and retinal beginners) a few years ago, and have now worked my way up to 6. Since using it, I’ve noticed my rough skin texture becoming smoother and my fine lines beginning to soften. It’s also one of the rare retinoid products that hasn’t caused me any irritation or flaking on my sensitive skin, which is a major plus. It also doesn't upset my acne-prone complexion either. In fact, I find it helps a lot in reducing my breakouts.

I'll then progress onto 10 to build on my results and treat the deeper lines I'm starting to see on my skin. In fact, I recently saw a friend of mine also uses it, and her skin looked incredible. All in all, if there's one retinoid serum I can wholeheartedly recommend that anyone add to their skincare routine, it's this one.

You'd think that because I'm a beauty editor, I've always got a full face of makeup on, right? Wrong. 1. Summer Fridays Flushed Lip Stain

First up, my favourite lip product at the moment. New from Summer Fridays, this lip stain isn't technically a lip liner, but it's my go-to for a defined, long-lasting look.

The super-fine nib is ideal for creating a perfect outline, and the lightweight tint feels hydrating on the lips (thank you, aloe vera and panthenol). You can, of course, use this all over, but I like to use it as a liner, then go in with a nude lip gloss or clear balm. It's not a peel-off formula, so it's quick and easy to apply, and trust me when I say that it lasts all day. It's marketed as a subtle tint, but I'd actually say the buildable formula makes quite a statement.

2. Sacheu Lip Liner Stay-N Peel Off Lip Stain

If you want something that really won't budge, then let me get you onto the Sacheu lip liner stain. This is a peel-off formula, and while the doe-foot applicator isn't as precise as the option above, you can still get a really nice finish. The annoying thing is that you have to leave it on for up to 20 minutes before peeling it off, but trust me when I say that it's worth it for the long-lasting results.

It looks super dark when you first apply it, but once you remove the stain, you are left with a much more natural result. My top tips are to ensure your lips are hydrated beforehand, as this can cling to dry patches, and also to have a bit of cotton wool on hand for any parts that don't peel off straight away.

3. NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie Lip Liner Stain

I can't stop raving about this lip liner stain from Nyx. It is one of the most precise liners I've tried, and you don't have to peel it off, so your lip look is complete in seconds. The transfer-proof formula feels really lightweight, and I've personally fallen in love with the selection of nude shades on offer.

It has an interesting ballpoint felt tip to create a sharp outline, but it does take a little longer if you want to use it all over the lips. The only downside I found with this one was that it wasn't as long-lasting as other formulas in this roundup, but apart from that, I can't fault it.

I moan about my hair a lot. I shouldn't, really. I've been blessed with incredibly thick hair and natural waves, but if I'm being honest, I find it quite hard to deal with. Sometimes I want a smooth, sleek finish, and no matter what I do, it seems downright impossible. I've tried every conditioner, hair mask, hair oil and hot brush under the sun, and whilst they seem to work at first, the minute I step outside, my flyaways make an immediate return.

So, at the start of the year, when I was being briefed on the upcoming Garnier launches and the brand mentioned a new smoothing spray, I dismissed it almost straight away. It won't work on me, I thought, and the bottle got filed away in the beauty cupboard for someone else to try. However, a few weeks later, I was out with some fellow beauty editors, and they all said, "Have you tried the Garnier Diamond Sleek Smoothing Spray?" They couldn't stop singing its praises, and all of them convinced me to give it a go.

The Formula

As mentioned, this product is a smoothing spray, but it does so much more. The keratin and argan oil-infused formula shields hair from humidity and creates a polished finish by coating the hair fibre, almost like a magic cloak. It is heat-activated, so you will need to use a hair dryer or wet-to-dry tool after applying the spray for the best results. I personally like to use my Revlon hot brush, as these two together are a match made in heaven. Don't worry about applying a separate heat protectant either, as the formula protects up to 230 °C.

The Application

As you can probably guess, you apply the product to wet hair after rinsing out your shampoo and conditioner. I like to split my hair into sections and apply liberally to each strand, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. As soon as you spray this, you will be met with the most incredible scent. Honestly, whenever I use this, I feel like I've stepped out of a five-star salon.

The Results

The first time I used this, I was blown away (no pun intended). I don't think my hair has ever looked so smooth when blow-drying it at home, and it's quickly become a mainstay in my haircare routine. One thing I will say is that I personally don't find it adds loads of shine to the hair, but apart from that, I cannot fault it. The ease of application, the scent, the results and the price all get a 10 out of 10 from me.

Whilst I've always been loyal to my leave-in conditioner and hair oil, I think this is the sort of product that's really been missing from my routine. Not only does it create immediate results, but it keeps my hair looking sleek for days. If you also struggle to get a sleek finish at home, I really recommend giving this a go. I'm not one to call a beauty product a miracle-worker, but this is probably as close as it gets for me.

I'm the type of person who has nails that grow quickly. But my nails aren't very strong, so it's nearly impossible to grow my nails without them splitting, breaking or peeling—all it takes is one knock, and they snap. And if you're reading this too, you might have the same problem as I do, wondering how to stop your nails peeling, how to stop nails from breaking and how to grow your nails more easily. So, I've made it my quest to find the best nail strengtheners and nail growth serums around to help transform my bendy, brittle nails into long and strong nails of my dreams.

However, one nail strengthener I have yet to try is Essie's Hard to Resist Nail Strengthener (£11), which promises to strengthen nails in just three days. I was sceptical, but I've been putting it to the test to see just how quickly this nail strengthener works. Scroll ahead to see how I got on.

The Formula

Essie's Hard to Resist polish comes in three different shades, including a clear formula (which I tested) and two tinted shades with a clear pink and purple hue, designed to brighten and disguise nail discolouration. The formula contains MSM, a compound that helps to encourage keratin production in the nails to increase strength and help prevent splitting and breakages.

I personally opted for the clear shade, which promises to repair nails in just three days. You apply it to clean, bare nails for it to get to work. Essie recommends applying two coats for the best results. I've been wearing mine for three days now, and I have some thoughts on it.

My Verdict

My first impression of the polish is just how glossy it is. I picked the clear version, and even without a tinted hue, it definitely made my nails look instantly healthier-looking and shiny after two coats. And it dries within a minute, so there's no hanging around waiting for it to dry.

It's a great nail strengthener to keep on your nails in between gel manicures or polish. It's tempting to leave your nails bare when you want to give them a rest, but this really helps to form a protective barrier that makes them feel harder right away, as well as shielding them from water (which, with repeated exposure, can soften bendy nails even more) and helping give them a chance to grow. Before applying this, some of my longer nails were a little bendy and prone to breaking, but since applying this a few days ago, I've not had any breakages or splitting. Result!

Whilst it might be too soon to give a full review of how well this nail strengthener works, I have remarkably noticed some benefits after just a couple of days of wear. My nails definitely feel harder and stronger.

I will say that I have noticed the polish peeling away a little, so you may need to top it up every few days to maintain the shielding and strengthening benefits. But all in all, I'm happy with the results I've seen so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing the full benefits after a couple more weeks of testing.

I'll hold my hands up: I adore what Botox does for my skin. My fine lines and wrinkles soften, my hooded eyes look more refreshed, and it gives my skin an amazing glow. My Verdict

No serum or skincare product is ever going to lift the facial features like Botox can; however, if fine lines and wrinkles are your primary concern, this serum is a great way to soften the dynamic lines we get around the eyes from smiling or on the forehead from raising our brows. I've seen a visible difference in the stubborn lines that creep up on my forehead when I've not had Botox for a while, and the finer lines around my eyes are noticeably softer, too.
