>We’ve been cheering on Halima Aden since she broke the mold as the first pageant contestant to tackle the swimsuit competition in a burkini, all the way up until recently, when she appeared in a Harper’s Bazaar beauty shoot for the May 2017 issue. Now, in quite a no-brainer role, Aden’s teamed up with a fellow stereotype-breaking brand when it comes to modest fashion, The Modist, for its latest photo shoot. And it’s led to some pretty drop-dead-gorgeous photos.
>In celebration of a limited-edition kaftan collection for Ramadan, featuring luxe, intricate designs by the likes of Adam Lippes, Mary Katrantzou, Preen, and more, Aden joins a trio of models in a woodsy, ethereal setting. They’re dressed in vibrant colors and patterns while maintaining a modest POV—making the designs appropriate for anyone celebrating the upcoming Islamic holy month or simply preferring to dress covered up. While we’ve enjoyed seeing Aden inclusively cast in runway shows alongside all other models of the moment, this particular shoot, paying homage to her own culture, feels pretty special too.
