Forbes magazine's annual list of the 100 highest-paid celebrities was released yesterday, and it's no surprise that the most talked about female singer-songwriter secured the top spot. We're talking about Taylor Swift, who, according to the report, earned a whopping $170 million over the past year, more than doubling her $80 million earnings from last year and beating out last year's top earner in the music business, Katy Perry, who placed third.
The wild success of her 1989 World Tour, which grossed $200 million and is projected to bring in a total of a quarter billion dollars—along with her endorsements for brands like Apple, Keds, and Diet Coke—were all contributors. Also on the list are fellow musicians Adele in the ninth spot with $80.5 million, Madonna at number 12 with $76.5 million, Rihanna following at number 13 with $75 million, and Katy Perry at number 63 with $41 million. With a new boyfriend, a fun holiday weekend with friends, and this top honor, Taylor Swift is having quite an eventful summer.
