(In 2009, she also married musician Ryan Adams, with whom she’s working on a record—fingers crossed it’s her next project!) Like her latest films, which are more refined than her early ‘90s fare, Moore’s notable now for her sophisticated, classic aesthetic. The down-to-earth star proclaims she’s “a jeans and t-shirt girl through and through,” and while she definitely rocks laid-back, girl-next-door pieces, she’s also known for elegant, feminine-yet-unfussy looks that have placed her on our fashion radar for years. That’s why we were thrilled when Moore agreed to raid our closet this month, styling an outfit that speaks perfectly to her sensibilities. Moore raided the Who What Wear closet with one mission in mind: to create an outfit that not only speaks to her personal style, but is also great for transitioning into fall.
Moore curated a look that she calls “quintessential me”—a cool take on her relaxed style. “I love the graphic, ladylike blouse and leather jacket,” she says. “This outfit exemplifies who I am on a day-to-day basis. Maybe I’ll be in flats most of the time, but if I have to step up my game, I’ll wear these classic Manolo pumps!”

Moore calls Newbark’s Camilla Flats ($615) her comfortable yet chic alternative to sneakers. “I’m a sucker for anything animal print too, because it adds a little pop to jeans and a t-shirt,” she says.
Though Moore may refer to herself as “a pretty simple person,” her taste in shades is decidedly fashion-forward! Her favorite pair? Oliver Peoples’ feminine, retro Sofee Sunglasses ($380).
Moore’s affinity for stripes led her to select Tucker’s Tie Neck Polo Blouse ($298, 210.822.2764) as one of her picks. “I like that it’s not a classic t-shirt,” she says. “It’s got a little more bohemian blousy-ness to it.” She’d wear it tucked into a pencil skirt.
“I was told by someone long ago that anytime you see a navy blue pump you have to buy it, because they’re not as easy to come by as a black shoe!” Moore reveals, explaining why she gravitated towards Alejandro Ingelmo’s suede Flavia Pumps ($725). “I love the cutout detail. These seem like classics I’ll wear over and over, and those are the pieces I like to have in my wardrobe.”
“This bag is definitely going to be in my life for real!” Moore gushes about Jerome Dreyfuss’ Bobi Leopard-Print Calf Hair Shoulder Bag ($960). “This feels like a really good day-to-night bag. I can see myself going to meetings all day and transitioning this for a dinner.” The actress especially loved the purse’s feminine chain and luxe texture.
A great travel scarf is an essential part of Moore’s repertoire, which is why she fell in love with Elder Statesman’s Pashmina Cashmere Shawl with Tassels ($1445). “Maybe it’s not totally appropriate now, as we’re all sweltering,” she laughs. “But I always have a scarf with me in my bag. Especially living in Los Angeles, the night sort of constitutes having something to wrap up in!”
“I feel like I could wear Club Monaco’s Susie Parka ($229) millions of different ways, dressing it up or down,” Moore says.
“I loved Ann Taylor’s Floral Leopard Jacquard Ankle Pants ($98, available mid-August) immediately,” Moore says. “I’d style this with a crisp men’s button-up and heels, or a t-shirt and army jacket. They feel fun!”
Moore fell for the rich, autumnal shade of 10 Crosby Derek Lam’s Sleeveless Diamond Seam Dress ($995). “I have a plethora of black leather dresses and skirts, but I love this maroon color,” she says. “It’d be a great piece to carry into fall and winter. I’d wear a little t-shirt underneath and pair it with a heavier jacket. It fits so well too!”
