Before you take our quiz to find out which (affordable!) spring trend you should stock up on this season, you might need to make a little room in your closet. Having an overwhelming wardrobe is the worst thing you can do to your clothing and style. The chaos only leads to a longer outfit-planning process and loads of wrinkled clothes—which is why we're challenging you to seven days worth of de-cluttering, with each day focusing on a different section of your wardrobe. Are you in? Keep scrolling to get started! And be sure to keep us posted on your progress throughout the week with the hashtag #WWWSpringClean.
Gather all of the coats and blazers you haven’t worn in the past year and one by one decide if it’s a keeper.
Challenge: Edit out at least three items.
Because it’s important to have options when it comes to denim, organize your jeans by each key style: skinny, cropped, boyfriend, distressed, straight, and flared. From there, try on every pair and make a pile of your least favorites.
Challenge: Let go of two to three pairs.
Take a good look at your shoe collection and pull out any that have visible scuffs (and are beyond repair), an uncomfortable fit, or are super-trendy.
Challenge: Ditch at least three pairs.
There’s no need to own piles of old T-shirts.
Challenge: Save your ten favorites and set the rest aside.
We’re talking about your selection of dresses, skirt, and tops reserved for GNOs. If you can think of three or more times you’d potentially wear an item, it’s a keeper. If not, consider parting with the piece.
Challenge: Say good-bye to five pieces.
Sort through your jewelry box and remove the costume and extremely trendy pieces. From there, decide if you’d ever wear it again or if it’s worth saving.
Challenge: Part with three to four items.
Categorize all of your handbags by style and think about which ones you use the most. Keep your favorite shapes and colors together and edit down the remaining purses.
Challenge: Retire at least two bags.
At the end of the week, gather all of the pieces from each challenge and sell or donate to your nearest thrift store!
