With the change of season, comes a change of style. Or more accurately, an update to our existing style. During the last few months as it's transitioned into full-blown winter, we've found ourselves obsessed with new hair accessories, and the 100+ ways to wear a scarf (not actually 100, but it comes pretty damn close). And while we consider ourselves experts when it comes to the prediction and dissection of fashion trends, we always love to hear directly from the buyers themselves.
Sportsgirl’s Accessories Buying Manager, Bianca Burd, slid into Who What Wear Australia's DMs and answered some of our pressing winter trend questions—like what is the biggest accessory trends everyone should have on our radar right now, and what ankle boots we should buy next. It's further proof that Sportsgirl has been a go-to for our editors for years, simply due to the affordable pricing and always being first to jump on seasonal trends.
Keep scrolling to read what Burd has to say about this year's winter trends and to shop the Sportsgirl pieces, as well as some similar items we've picked out.
WHO WHAT WEAR AUSTRALIA: What do you think will be winter's biggest accessory trends?
BIANCA BURD: Hats and rose-tinted sunglasses (because who cares if the sun isn't out). In terms of jewellery, statement earrings are the new statement necklace. Waisted corset and cinched-in belts are also in season.
WWW: Whats the best way to really make the most of this year's winter trends?
BB: Experiment with anything mirror metallic, velvet, or fur (fake, of course!).
WWW: What ankle boot style should we be buying for winter?
BB: You've probably already bought a velvet pair, so your next buy has to be a studded or laced-up military option. Loafers are also a great alternative to boots this winter.
WWW: And how should we be styling our winter shoes?
BB: It's all about the contrast: fabulous statement earrings with ripped denim, chokers with flowy dresses –it's not a blinged-out look, it's more urban and edgy.
WWW: Kendall and Bella have been wearing hats non-stop—do you think this is the year of the hat? And if so, what style?
BB: Absolutely. Anything from a baseball cap to a baker boy, slouchy beanie, or felt floppy. Not only does it keep you warm, it hides bad hair and is definitely a styling must have this winter.
