Tomorrow, Sotheby’s kicks off its “Photographs” auction, which features some of the most iconic fashion images of all time. As you might assume, owning a piece of history will come at a steep price: The most expensive one—a close-up image of a model’s lips by Irving Penn—is estimated to sell for up to $331,000 while others are in the $25,000 range.
The list of featured photographers reads like a who’s who of fashion: Images by Penn, Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh, and Richard Avedon will all be up for grabs in the London-based auction.
