The Gucci Princetown Loafer ($695) has had a good run. A real good run. We’ve been obsessing over it since 2015, which means it’s no longer sitting in ‘trend’ territory, but it’s now more of a seasonless classic—so we’ve been wondering what would capture our hearts next. Behold, the Alberta Ferretti Embellished Embroidered Mules ($1000). It’s also a backless loafer, but this one takes on a different vibe—it’s embroidered, and has a pointed toe, and feels decidedly fresh for spring.
Kendall Jenner stepped out in a pair back in August, Nicky Hilton's been spotted in them, Louise Roe showed us how to dress them down, and then they popped up over street style during the S/S 17 shows (see Diletta Bonaiuti below).
While we predict it’ll be the Alberta Ferretti version everyone wants to get their hands on, Oscar de la Renta has also been quietly creating a similar style shoe for the past few seasons—it’s also a backless loafer, with a mixture of embroidery and embellishments and a slew of different fabrics. Read on to check out both versions, and shop the look.
