Thanks to Carrie Bradshaw’s serious obsession with Manolos, Jimmys, Louboutins, and their ilk, Sex and the City was filled with memorable shoe moments. Remember when Bradshaw is robbed at gunpoint and begs the thief not to take her favorite pair of strappy Manolos? Or the time when Carrie figures out that the reason she’s so broke is because of her costly footwear fascination? Needless to say, Bradshaw—played by Sarah Jessica Parker—and her covet-worthy collection of stilettos were inextricably linked throughout all six seasons of the show. But when HarpersBazaar.com recently asked Parker about her favorite SATC shoe moment, the actress chose an episode that we found notable as well.
“I think the one that people remember, love, and talk about a lot is the moment she sees the Manolo Mary Janes in the Vogue closet and says, ‘Oh my god, I thought this was an urban myth,’” Parker reveals. “I think that was a very funny and clever way of talking about something that is to some a silly sort of infatuation. But it gives it some kind of smarts. That's great writing and the fact that that great shoe existed. … I knew from that, because I had borrowed a pair for an event and ended up keeping them. But then, one time, I did see Manolo Mary Janes in the Vogue closet and they weren't beaten up. Mine were soaked from the rain, and I had run city blocks in those shoes. When Carrie said that line, I was like, ‘I get it!’”
