11 Styling Tricks to Steal From Russian Fashion Girls

In 2012, The New York Times introduced readers to a new wave of street style stars dubbed the Russian Fashion Pack. Wealthy, polished, and unapologetically glamorous, the group flaunted their couture outfits outside shows and became regular front-row fixtures in Paris.

Five years later, they’re firmly ensconced in the industry: Miroslava Duma has built her website, Buro 24/7, into an 11-edition international media property and launched Fashion Tech Lab, an incubator and fund for innovative startups, as well as luxury kids’ site The Tot. Ulyana Sergeenko shows couture collections biannually, and Vika Gazinskaya’s line is carried by Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi. The country has also produced some newer entrants in the years since, like Olga Karput, founder of Moscow concept shop Kuznetsky Most 20, and Lotta Volkova, stylist and right-hand woman to Demna Gvasalia at Vetements and Balenciaga, whose styles skew cool and directional rather than über-refined.
