The "Ugly"-Cool Pants Trend We Never Saw Coming

Every season we see old trends become new again and the S/S 17 runways were not an exception. As Vogue points out, thanks to shows like Stella McCartney to Baja East, our inner teenager is about to have a fashion moment. No, it's not more crop tops or chokers—raver pants are about to steal the spotlight from your favorite skinny jeans and trousers.

From the zipper-lined to the metallic variations, the baggy pants are on the brink of a resurgence. On the Ellery runway, we saw a high-waist, cropped fit that—dare we say it—had a more structured and tailored look, while the same can be said for the black pair we spotted at Carven. DSquared2 and Stella McCartney, however, went for the baggiest looks with an acid-wash denim style, and a draped, logo-emblazoned style, respectively. Meanwhile, at Baja East, the metallic and textured wide-leg silhouettes sold us on the throwback-inspired trend.
