This year's Golden Globes came and went, but we're still talking about the major fashion moments that kick-started award season. Hollywood's leading ladies and men brought their A-game to the first big red carpet event of the year, and while we love talking gowns and trends, shoes also had a moment in the spotlight.
Despite the evening's black-tie dress code, celebs broke all the fashion rules and showed off their fancy footwear with sheer hemlines, revealing slits, and even tea-length dresses. Footwear News points out that, from what we could actually see, two brands dominated the red carpet: Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin. Best Actress winner Emma Stone rocked the classic Jimmy Choo Minny Sandals ($425), which were covered by her billowy star-embellished gown, while Natalie Portman donned a custom pair. Reese Witherspoon stunned in a pair of six-inch Louboutin sandals, and Tracee Ellis Ross chose the same designer for her sparkly pumps. As for the men, Donald Glover, Justin Timberlake, Ben Affleck, and Leonard DiCaprio all also opted for a red sole with Louboutin dress shoes. Will this trend carry on as award season continues? We'll keep an eye out for it.
