This J.Crew Dress Was Immediately Wildly Popular—Here's Why

J.Crew's new arrivals are coming in hot, and in perusing them, we couldn't help but notice that an immediate fan favourite was a button-down cotton eyelet dress that will run you a wallet-friendly $148. The dress was made in a slew of sizes (00 to 16 and 00 to 12 in petite) and although it was listed as one of the brand's newest arrivals this week, it's almost completely sold out in the lavender hue.

So why the instant popularity? For starters, it's that lavender hue. (It also comes in black, which is still fully stocked.) The pretty colour's rise to It-colour status has been quick this season, and fashion girls seem to be drawn to it like moths to a flame. Secondly, it's a universally flattering dress style: fit and flare, which is a fuss-free way to accentuate the smallest part of the waist. And lastly, it has pockets. While this may seem insignificant, wouldn't you much rather have a dress with pockets than without? We would.

The breezy dress will take you from vacation to wedding showers to happy hour during the warmest months of the year and is the perfect thing to wear with those new espadrilles you got. If you already want the dress as much as everyone else apparently did, you're in luck—we found it on Net-a-Porter in sizes 0 to 12. We suggest acting fast if you want it to be a part of your wardrobe this season and next. Shop it below.
