The fashion world just lost a major icon: Pierre Bergé. The co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent and business partner to the designer passed away at the age of 86, WWD reports. Everyone from French President Emmanuel Macron to supermodel Naomi Campbell has expressed how much Bergé meant to the fashion industry.
"Monsieur #pierrebergé I used to call you Sargent Major, remembering when you would accompany me to work in the mornings when working for you and #yvessaintlaurent," Campbell captioned her Instagram. She explained how smart, witty, and fast he was, and how he always "had the last laugh."
Macron also paid tribute in a statement: "With Pierre Bergé, a whole portion of our literary and artistic legacy is disappearing," he said, per WWD.
