I’m Bobby, and I have an online shopping problem. Hey, could be worse, right? Now, let’s get it straight: While I may find myself “adding to cart” more than a normal person, I don’t just blow everything I have just because I want something. Trust me, I wish—but that’s just not realistic. Part of the reason why I can keep shopping is because I’ve developed a few tricks over the years that ensure I’m always making the right decision with a purchase to minimize buyer’s remorse. And because I love you, dear readers, I’m going to share my tips with you right here.
Keep scrolling to find out why I’m never unhappy with my online purchases—and shop my current favorite picks you’re bound to love.
Many online shops now have a “runway” feature where you can actually see the item you’re interested in purchasing in motion. I always check this out before adding the pick to the cart because you’ll often be able to catch a more realistic view of what the item looks like because brands sometimes alter the color and fit of an item for the photo of the item.
One of the reasons why I love to shop and am always so happy doing so is because I sometimes make money by shopping. How? I live for Ebates—a cash-back website where you can earn a percentage of what you’re spending at over 2000 stores. How could you possibly be disappointed with something if you’re not just spending money, but making money?
If you want to ensure you’re getting the best deal possible, always do your research—especially for those items that are sold at a range of stores. Love that 3.1 Phillip Lim top? Check it out at a variety of places, and compare prices to find the lowest option. You can also use websites like Polyvore, which aggregate all of the online shops that carry the specific item you have your eye on.
I never go into a new a season without a plan. I study the market and runway shows to spot the trends and specific items I want to invest in that season. Then, I identify which online shops stock those finds and bookmark each. Throughout the season, I check back a few times per week and make decisions. If I see an item I love is selling out fast, I buy it—regardless of if it’s on sale. (If you really adore something and know you can’t live without it, you won’t regret the purchase). If something isn’t selling so fast, I frequently monitor to see when it goes on sale and purchase then. Note the best time to shop for seriously discounted items is in July for spring and summer, and January for fall and winter.
