5 Things New York Fashion Girls Do When They Go Out

Trends come and go (for example, New York City fashion girls have declared that off-the-shoulder tops are dead), but inherently, every season, a few stick around and become synonymous with Big Apple style. At the Dior x Saks Fifth Avenue Cocktail Party and Dinner this week, one group of sartorially inclined women made a case for a few of this year's fresh dressing techniques that NYC girls swear by for their going-out looks specifically.

Dressing in head-to-toe Dior (naturally), everyone from Cipriana Quann to Chelsea Leyland was at the fête, and we're taking fashion notes. First up, DJ Leyland juxtaposed her feminine skirt with a minimalistic makeshift crop top while Hannah Bronfman embraced another head-to-toe-black ensemble but went for comfort with a matching set. Meanwhile, Leandra Medine surprised us with a muted color palette of black and white courtesy of an elegant crochet dress and simple, ankle-strap heels.

Generally, our favorite rule-breakers and -makers are the girls who go for statement looks. Fernanda Ly did just that, pairing her silk dress with moto boots, and Cipriana Quann fit the bill too with a bright red cashmere coat worn as a dress. But all five fashion-forward looks were equally gorgeous and certainly proved why NYC-girl style continues to inspire our OOTDs.
