How to Wear Fall's Biggest Trends When You're Not Size 2

One of the most common critiques of the fashion industry (and one that's rightfully lobbed, we might add) is its lack of body diversity. From fashion week runways to ad campaigns and magazine editorials, the fashion world's obsession with skinny has long been documented.

At Who What Wear, we try to do our part to add more body variance into the mixwe frequently cover emerging news from the growing plus-size fashion community and the models who regularly speak out on this important issue. So we were thrilled to do an original photo shoot featuring one of our editorsa totally normal, not-so-skinny size 8—wearing this season's biggest trends.

We hope you find it inspiring and refreshing to see a not-dreadfully-thin woman wearing (and pulling off!) the trends normally portrayed on only the thinnest of frames. We had such a great time working on this and found it rather enlightening.

Pulling off a Marrakech-inspired look requires a strategic pairing of modern stapleslike a button-down blouse and denim pantswith a pop of print and texture. This brocade coat is statement-making but not overwhelming, and the heeled metallic loafers give the outfit an elevated finish.

The Trend: Op-Art Prints

Everyone from Valentino to Louis Vuitton showed an op-art print on their F/W 15 runways. How to do it in real life? Ground a boldly printed dress with a leather moto jacket draped on the shoulders, and add a pair of casual sneakers.

This skirt made a splash on F/W 15 runways, including brands like Christian Dior and Proenza Schouler, but it's totally easy to translate it to street style. Opt for one that hits around the knees, like this Tibi version, and team it with a cropped sweater and ankle boots. The shorter turtleneck draws attention to the waistline and gives the silhouette a flattering effect.
