How New York Fashion Week Will Be Different in September

Among the many changes happening at New York Fashion Week this yearlike IMG as the owner and producer of the events that will become known as New York Fashion Week: The Shows, and venue changes to Skylight at Moynihan Station and Skylight Clarkson Squarethere are now a few more to note.

According to Rackedmany brands and designers will return to show at the new IMG venues, like Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, and Ralph Lauren. Big names like Prabal Gurung, Cushnie Et Ochs, and Public School are also among those who will show at IMG this time. IMG also acquired MADE, known for its rising designer shows at Milk Studios, but MADE will remain its own brand and will continue to be a venue for newer designers. All of the shows with IMG will be livestreamed on the New York Fashion Week website,

Additionally, invitations to shows at the venues will be more difficult to secure. The NYFW website states credentials will only be given to major media outlets, and that individuals and freelancers can only attend on official, documented assignment from these outlets. Everyone must reapply for new credentials as well.

Overall, the goal is to make New York Fashion Week: The Shows much less commercialized, with fewer sponsors vying for marketing opportunities, and make the focus just the clothes and the designers.
