What New Year's Eve Looked Like in the '90s

Pop quiz: How did you celebrate New Year's Eve in the '90s? And more importantly, what did you wear? In honor of the highly anticipated holiday, we've decided to take a little walk down memory lane and see how Hollywood fêted NYE during the glorious decade we now associate with the Spice Girls and flannel shirts.

We scoured the web and found some stylish gems, including photos of some of the biggest stars of the '90s—think Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson. On MTV, Stefani sported pink hair and wore a miniskirt over pants while Aguilera wore a glittery tube top and leather pants. Are you feeling the itch to bust out your favorite '90s brands yet?

Meanwhile, Simpson's outfit would actually fit in perfectly in 2018: She wore a timeless LBD with black strappy sandals. (Okay, maybe we'd nix the lariat necklace from her post-millennium outfit, but other than that, we wouldn't blink an eye if we caught someone wearing it this year.)

While Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera are often associated with the decade, we also found some other style icons you'll love just as much. From Queen Elizabeth II to Elizabeth Taylor, all of these images provide a fascinating snapshot of '90s fashion. Happy browsing! Scroll down to see how celebrities rang in the New Year in the '90s.
