Miley Cyrus, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Emily Blunt all have (at least) one thing in common: Neil Lane designed their engagement rings. Hollywood's go-to jeweler for everything from red carpet events to proposals has created some of the most iconic bridal jewelry, and in a recent interview with Racked, he talks industry trends and basically says that it's all about details.
"Mixed metals for sure, and the variety of cuts. That's something we see more now, that we didn't have years ago. When I first started in this business, nobody had heard of an Asscher cut or a cushion cut or even a square cut! Most people knew round and princess cuts, and those were what sold in most stores," he says in regard to stone shape and metal trends.
Lane also sees a rise in rings that feature intricate design. "More and more, I'm also seeing details being important. Details under the diamond, scrollwork, pavé work. People are interested in the little details," he says. And there you have it, straight from the king of engagement rings.
