Naomi Watts can add another feather to her cap—the Hollywood actress has partnered with Sportscraft, to design a summer capsule collection. It’s the first time Watts has designed for a fashion brand, but from what we can see, it definitely doesn’t look it—she clearly has an eye for what Australian women want to wear. While celebrity designer collaborations are as common as a Kanye West rant these days, Naomi’s collection feels like a natural, and organic fit. Relaxed white separates, sandals, and a cross-body bag feature in the collection, and are pieces that we often see her in during her down-time.
To celebrate the launch (the collection is available from today online and in selected stores), we caught up with Naomi to find out how she plans to spend the holidays, what she’s asking for this Christmas, and how she’d style the collection. Keep scrolling!
Who What Wear Australia: What tips do you have for the ultimate travel wardrobe?
Naomi Watts: Pack pieces that can be mixed and matched so you can change looks from day to night with minimal pieces. The Nomad Saddle Bag ($300) works extremely well for long flights and long walks and keeps your hands free for everything else you have to tackle! The Nomad Slides ($200) are an easy sandal to put back with dresses or shorts so they are interchangeable for day and night—you never want to pack/carry too many shoes—more room in the bag for shopping!
WWW: What is your favourite summer outfit?
NW: For me it’s a white bohemian dress with flat sandals, something with ease, a bit romantic.
WWW: What is your favourite summer meal?
NW: I love fresh fish and seafood—lots of healthy salads and fruit. The kinds of foods Sydney has to offer—Australians are very spoilt!
WWW: How would you style the pieces in your collection?
NW: The pieces all mix so well together. The sandals are perfect for a summer's day styled with the shorts, and are interesting and eye-catching enough to wear with a linen dress on a summer’s evening. I love the idea of the Nomad Silk Kimono ($230) over wide-leg trousers—which is so chic but still effortless.
WWW: How will you be spending your festive season?
NW: This year we have a short break around Christmas due to school and work which could mean a white Christmas at home in New York City with family and friends.
