It's no secret that the Hermès Birkin is like the Holy Grail of bags—thanks in large part to the fact that it's incredibly difficult to actually get your hands on one. While a traditional Birkin will set you back five figures, a recent iteration sold for way, way more. And yes, we're talking more than this $222,000 bag. As Harper's Bazaar pointed out, a very rare Diamond Himalaya Niloticus crocodile diamond 30 cm Birkin with 18k white gold and diamond hardware was sold at a Christie's auction for $300,168. "The diamond pieces created by Hermès are exceptional, but none are nearly as iconic as the Himalaya," Harper's Bazaar mentioned from a press release from Christie's. "It is believed that only one or two of the Diamond Himalayas are produced each year, globally, making it one of the lowest production runs for handbags." So fascinating!
