Fashion is fun and all, but it definitely comes with its fair share of nuisances, some of which only true fashion girls will understand. However, this doesn't mean that those minor disturbances aren't avoidable. With the right preparation and precautions, there won't be a single fashion dilemma that will knock you down.
Ahead, we've assembled a handful of what we think are the 10 most common fashion annoyances. From static-ridden clothing or being photographed in the same thing twice to busting a button or feeling like you literally wear the same thing every single day, there is not one problem we didn't solve for you here.
Scroll down to find out how to avoid each one of your biggest fashion dilemmas.
When your clothes are clinging to your body as a result of that thing called static, spritz a little sheer aerosol hair spray on the underside of the item, whether it be pants, a dress, or a skirt. Although it might seem odd at first, we promise it will get rid of that static ASAP.
RUINING YOUR OUTFIT WITH A COAT
Temperatures, unfortunately, have a tendency to drop to degrees that are not coat-negotiable. Instead of being sad about having to cover up your outfit with a heavy topper, invest in one you love just as much as any outfit that will go underneath. We recommend ones with faux fur, prints, or bright colors.
BEING PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE SAME ITEM MORE THAN ONCE
It's every girl's worst nightmare to be photographed in the same item twice. While we fully encourage repeating your favorite pieces, we do recommend styling them in fresh and alternate ways each time. This way, only you will know that you've worn said piece before.
SWEATER FUZZ ON BLACK PANTS
A fuzzy sweater and black skinny jeans? Sounds like the ideal winter outfit formula, if you ask us, but the look comes with the annoyance of fuzzy remnants getting left all over your pants. While this solution might not be rocket science, keeping travel-size lint rollers everywhere (in your car, purse, and desk) will ensure a fuzz-free look 24/7.
YOU ONLY HAD TIME FOR YOUR OUTFIT, NOT YOUR HAIR
We've all had those mornings where we get so caught up in concocting the perfect outfit that we run out of time to do anything else—especially our hair. In cases such as this, try putting a simple ribbon in there. The quick addition will appear to others as though you did in fact put a little thought into your hairstyle that morning. (We won't tell if you won't.)
YOU (FEEL LIKE YOU) WEAR THE SAME THING EVERY DAY
So you live in a select few basics and statement items—that's okay! There is no shame in having a great style uniform and sticking to it. However, when you are starting to get bored (or self-conscious) of your constant repetition, spice up your look with the addition of statement accessories that will get everyone talking.
Your whole closet is at the dry cleaners, on the floor, or out of date, and all you have to wear is a wrinkled shirt that you definitely don't have time to iron or steam. Instead of tossing this item on the floor as well, find a way to rework the piece, wrinkles and all. Button-downs are the easiest items to achieve this with. Wear them backward, as a one-shoulder top, etc.
BUTTON BREAKS/CLOTHES RIP
When you're a woman on the go, the last thing you need is for a button to break off or your pants to rip in the middle of your hectic day. Having a sewing kit on hand in your purse, at your desk, or in your car (just like the mini lint roller) will be the lifesaver you need when you find yourself in a pinch.
WHITE CLOTHES IN GENERAL
Forget about the post–/pre–Labor Day debacle—white clothes are scary! What if you spill? What if your undergarments are visible? What if both are happening at the same time? Take all precautions and always have multiple pairs of nude underwear on hand, in addition to stain-removing pens. Better safe than sorry.
