When Ashley Graham steps onto any red carpet, you can bet that heads will turn. But at tonight's Met Gala, she outdid herself with a gorgeous corset dress by H&M.
So why did the model opt to wear everyone's favorite affordable brand for fashion's biggest night? "I was ecstatic when I received the invitation to join H&M for the 2017 Met Gala," Graham told Who What Wear. "I've been working with the brand for years and appreciate that they incorporated my vision into the design of the dress. My stylist and I sketched my 'ideal' dress, and they made it come to life. It's the perfect mix of femininity, timelessness, and art."
Graham is especially fond of one detail in particular: "My favorite aspect of the dress is the deconstructed bustier, and all of the handcrafted details that make it unique," she told us.
Of course, the design of the dress was no coincidence. In a press release, the brand explained how it coordinated with the theme of the evening: It was "influenced by Kawakubo's interest in revealing the inner workings of garments," H&M stated. "An off-white corset was subtly deconstructed while a long red silk skirt was boned and fastened by hook-and-eyes, both decorated with exuberant ruffles of dark red silk organza." Intrigued?
