Known for her bright, modern, and extravagant collections, Mary Katrantzou went in a somewhat new direction for F/W 16, channeling her decorative talents into a retro country-Western theme. Models strutted down an aluminum foil runway in convertible headscarves, boxy herringbone jackets, pencil skirts, and shirtdresses embellished with hearts, stars, butterflies, and spitfire flames, and each of the cowgirl-inspired outfits was styled with feminine patent leather Mary Jane platforms. Katrantzou’s new collection is aimed at a bold fashion fan; among the whimsical pairings were multicolored fur shrugs over leopard-print blouses, and checkered trench coats over floor-length printed tulle skirts.
