Met Gala regulars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were in attendance at this year's event honoring Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, as expected, but what wasn't expected was what they chose to wear. In the past, the duo has usually opted for dark, heavy looks of their own design, but this year, they chose something a lot lighter. Throwing it back to the boho aesthetic that they were known for in the 2000s, both Mary-Kate and Ashley chose sheer white lace gowns worn over dark undergarments with layers of oversize jewelry to top them off. Mary-Kate opted for long sleeves while Ashley chose an ornately embroidered, fur-trimmed jacket atop her shoulders.
Their looks clearly paid homage to Kawakubo's avant-garde designs while harkening back to their boho-chic roots from the previous decade. See the Olsen's coordinating 2017 Met Gala looks below!
