Marion Cotillard is a fashion powerhouse, and while she frequently dons high-fashion brands such as Dior for her red carpet events, during a Cannes Film Festival party Monday night, she decided to shake things up.
Marion wore a sparkly strapless bustier and pants with an enormous train designed by fashion newcomer Michael Halpern. Michael is a recent fashion graduate from Central Saint Martins college, and Marion’s look is his first-ever major red carpet moment. Having a movie star like Marion wear your design is an achievement even for seasoned fashion designers, so Michael is clearly one to watch. Michael talked to Vogue about his accomplishment.
“Marion is such a phenomenal actress, so when the opportunity arose to dress her, it was just a dream,” Michael told Vogue. “Since it’s Cannes, we both wanted high glamour, and the sequined bustier and trousers combination seemed perfect. She’s incredible, humble, and, of course, gorgeous.”
The outfit is so larger than life that it can hardly fit in one picture, so we think it’s safe to say that Michael achieved what he was going for.
