Finnish label Marimekko showcased its first collection under new creative director, Anna Teurnell, at the iconic backdrop of The Sydney Opera House this morning.
Teurnell previously headed-up Who What Wear Australia favourite, & Other Stories (which unfortunately doesn't ship to Australia so you’ll have to shop it next time you’re in Europe), and understands simplistic design and what women want to wear. Marimekko is known for its iconic prints and eye-catching, bright designs, so we were excited to see how the two would come together and what she’d bring to her new role.
The collection featured garden inspired prints, worked back with monochrome archive prints from past designers, for easy-to-wear and practical clothes for work or weekends. The S/S 16 collection also sees addition of new accessories—shoes, eyewear and bags. If minimalistic design and eye-catching colours are your jam, then this is everything you’ll want to wear come summer.
