Real Women Say This Piece Makes Leggings as Pants Acceptable

With the recent resurgence of leggings, a familiar debate has once again arisen: Is it acceptable to wear leggings as pants? Well, Glamour recently conducted a study to get to the bottom of what women really think about the polarizing trend, and its findings show that 61% of those polled agree that leggings aren’t acceptable in place of pants unless they’re paired with a longer top or sweater to cover the backside. Personally, we are digging the look of a tunic or duster jacket over a pair of leggings and agree that the crop-top look is best reserved for the gym. Additionally, there’s a major designer that’s in agreement. For its recent runway show, Céline sent a pair of leggings topped off with a long dress from its F/W 16 collection—proof that leggings can look sleek and sophisticated.

Keep scrolling to see the Céline runway look and a recent airport outfit worn by Selena Gomez, both excellent examples of how to wear leggings as pants. And last but not least, shop a leggings-and–long top combination that we love below!
