When Vetements announced six months ago that it would be collaborating with 18 different brands, the partnership we were most curious about was Juicy Couture. The label reached peak popularity in the early ’00s with its velour tracksuits (often snapped on the likes of Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton), but we were keen to see how Vetements would make Juciy Couture relevant today.
The collaboration just landed on Net-a-Porter and Matches Fashion, and it definitely feels more ‘now’. Vetements has kept Juicy Couture’s signature velour fabrication but made the label relevant in 2017 with current shapes—high neck skivvies, high-waisted slim leg pants, and a one-shoulder jumpsuit (that wouldn’t look out of place on a red carpet).
Kylie Jenner was the first celeb we spotted in the collab, and with pieces starting from $650, it’s not the type of collection you’re going to see everywhere. But the question remains, will you be splurging on a new set of velour sweats? Or will you whip out your old Juicy Coutures from high school and wear the originals?
One thing’s for sure, Kylie Jenner sure knows how to make it look cool. She paired it with another piece from Vetement’s S/S 17 collaboration—the label’s reversible camo jacket created in partnership with Canada Goose.
