The parchment-colored tulle dress is embroidered with the score from La Traviata, an opera by Giuseppe Verdi that debuted in 1853, in Venice, Italy.

The dress took 1,600 hours to bead.

For the Grammys after-party, Perry wore Look 6 from the Valentino Haute Couture Spring 14 collection. It is a tutu dress draped with blood red tulle and embellished with a serpent made out of feathers. The dress was customized specifically for Perry by removing the sleeves.

The serpent and the apple took 350 hours to create. The dress is inspired by the 1607 opera L’Orfeo, written by Claudio Monteverdi, which tells the Greek legend of Orpheus’ descent into hell, in an attempt to bring back his wife Eurydice, who died of a snakebite shortly after their wedding.
