Kanye West is nothing if not a constant source of unfiltered and uncensored commentary on, well, just about everything. West has been known to take to Twitter and sound off about everything from fashion to art to music. This weekend, he received Footwear News' Shoe of the Year Award for his Adidas Yeezy Boost 250 sneakers, and during his speech, West was characteristically candid.
The rapper and fashion designer talked about everything from his brief stint at Fendi in Rome to what it was like working with shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti; but one of the most interesting tidbits was his recollection of sneaking into an Alexander McQueen show in Paris many years ago.
"They wouldn't let me in because I was a celebrity. And [McQueen] was kind of disappointed when he saw me—'I thought I said no celebrities!'" West recalls. "And I remember Jay Z texting me, 'Get off the runway, it's kind of rude.' And I was like, 'I'm not f*cking leaving.'"
Classic. West sure has come a long way since he was sneaking into designer shows.
