The star-spangled baubles on our radar right now are the Gold Earrings ($395) from Alexis Bittar and Phillip Lim’s inspired collaboration. Renowned jewelry designer Bittar crafted the glamorous chandelier earrings, which 33 models wore in Lim’s F/W 13 runway collection.
Recycling is the key word used in the making of eco-friendly clothing--but the masterminds behind Topshop and Reclaim to Wear’s second collection call it “upcycling,” the process of converting discarded materials into something not only useful, but beautiful too. Either term works for us, as long as the result includes these ditsy floral camis and lace-paneled dresses. The stylish, sustainable pieces incorporate unused--but unquestionably lovely--prints from Topshop’s previous seasons, so consider us sold!
Floral Panel Dress ($140)
Oversize Floral Shirt ($90)
When Hedi Slimane took over the Saint Laurent label, he introduced the new Janis shoe (Kate Moss, Nicole Richie, and Carey Mulligan are fans), which comes in three closed-toe styles and is poised to take over the Tribute’s reign. Shop these soon-to-be classics, like the Signature Janis Studded T-Strap Escarpin Pumps ($1095) and Classic Janis Escarpin Pumps ($775) in Pink Leather.
Sartorial discoveries like new shoes and Topshop’s latest collab never fail to thrill us, but sometimes, a good, old-fashioned TV drama does the trick too! FX’s new show, which premieres July 10th, involves a serial killer operating on the U.S.-Mexico border and two detectives--one of them, played by Diane Kruger, with Asperger’s--on a mission to solve the case. Needless to say, we’ll be tuning into The Bridge every week!
If you’re as obsessed with British model Cara Delevingne as we are, snag Colour Me Good Cara ($11) illustrated by Mel Simone Elliott. Delevingne’s signature funny expressions and quirky poses lend themselves perfectly to this creative tome. Excuse us as we dig up our old box of Crayolas…
This summer, the Victoria & Albert Museum pays homage to one of our favorite eras in fashion history: the London club kid scene in the ‘80s. Celebrities who frequented the underground nightlife spots like Blitz--Boy George, Steve Strange, John Galliano--wore highly stylized, theatrical costumes, which had a profound impact on Vivienne Westwood, Katharine Hamnett, Bodymap, and Galliano himself. The museum’s Club to Catwalk: London Fashion in the 1980s exhibit showcases club kid-era outfits from those designers and many more.
